amazing! I was looking for a vintage pattern with this style but couldn't find any styles simple enough to easily grade up to my size. So happy to have found this tutorial so I can draft my own!

you know what i actually love that Vicky is making mistakes and Charlotta is correcting her - a lot of pattern drafting tutorials are done straight up perfect skimming over the tiny little errors that beginners like me would make - like not having that collar at the back neck totally at a right angle - and i wouldn't know what i did wrong or why it needed to be done differently. I think it's important to explain mistakes that could be made and how not to make them

Hi Tash, Thank you for your comment and Im glad you liked our process- I completely agree with you, quite often the mistakes teach you much more. Vicky actually was my textiles teacher to begin with, so it was strange swapping roles!

I love Shawl collars, and have drafted a beautiful one for blouses for myself ~ However, I’m struggling to draft the collar so it doesn’t sit quite so snug against my neck~ Any suggestions?

Hi Charlotta today I am trying to work on a women's pant, I have a question,if I want to put an elastic in the waist there will be some gathers on the waist for that do we need to take extra fabric on the waistline or put tbe elastic with measurements already having.Also it would be great if you do a series on pants with the basic pant pattern.

Shadow 5 Hi Raveena, you’re correct, to put an elastic band in the waist of your trousers you need to make the waist itself wider. The widest part of your trousers are your hips, so measure around there and add a bit extra ( ca 1-2inches). That way you’ll be able to pull up your trousers. Good luck with your trouser making!! We are planning a course on trousers, as I think they are actually really tricky to get right, so keep an eye out for it! All the best.

I’m confused as to the sewing because at the high shoulder point it ALWAYS bunches up and creates an ugly shoulder fit but that’s probably just me not knowing how to properly sew it. Thanks, I remember watching this when it was first released when the channel was called ‘Charlotte Ayers’. I suspect my drafted basic bodice is also throwing off my overall patterns. Can I find a video of ‘basic bodice’ from you? :)

Hi Emmanuel, I think it could be one of two things, either your basic bodice block is not quite right in the shoulder seam, or you are trying to put too much ease in when you sew the collar. From what you say its probably your basic bodice block, we are about provide a link on our website for a basic bodice block , we will let you know once its up.

Shadow 5 Good morning Raveena, No worries, questions are good! Sadly there’s no direct answer, it all depends on your body and your pattern size and fit. Sorry! We’ve got a whole series on made to measure videos planned, it’s just tricky finding the time!

Hi therr, I am your new subscriber from India😀 I like the way you put clear explainations and drafting.Please make a tutorial on tailor collar.I am from India so if you know we wear KURTI in our daily life.I want to learn various collars that can be put on KURTI.As I m finding most of the tutorials for a jacket collar I am unable to apply it on my KURTI pattern.Please help I would really appreciate if my comment gets your notice.☺❤
