the cactus is so cute! 😄 random suggestion: can prerelease promo cards be Booster Fun in the future? It’d be sweet to always crack a cool version of something re: the set’s theme (and also it’s a nice way to promote collector boosters!)
Blunder Junkion has some introductions to Bloomburrow, which I’m waiting for. Blunder Junkson doesn’t make any sense to me, random characters team up to rob a vault, but no one mention who’s vault it was.
@@jamesdillon5976 that’s illogical and a fallacy. The idea you have a converted mana cost that is useless is just another example of reducing the value of older cards and spiking the power creep. There will be spree cards with “this spell can’t be countered” and flashback and ward and lifelink and deathtouch that will make your collection worthless without the latest set, as well as ruining the card aesthetics
@@skaven969 what do you mean about having a cmc that is useless? Power creep? Sure, I could see that in the future for Spree. I could also see that for the other kicker-like mechanics, like Entwine, Escalate etc. I understand what you mean about everything new getting tacked on stuff to make it more exciting and selling packs and essentially forcing rotation in non-rotating formats, but I don't think Spree is a bad mechanic in itself.
@@bondeulv spree could be effective, but that isn’t the point of spree. It is to create a module card that surpasses the previous why would I run damnation when I have damn and module cards that let me choose to go wide or target a single card. What this does is lead to the homogeneous decks at top tier and the bottom tier scrounging for cards as formats like pauper are suddenly more expensive because green mana ramp is the most value for the cheapest commons. Basically all the cards that you consider good are crap compared to any with spree. As well as deciding the converted manacost no longer dictates the spell’s powerlevel. We will be seeing a lot more spree only because it lazy modular card design. You can put any combinations of effects on a spree card, technically you could make nicol bolas planeswalker have spree.
I'm so disappointed watching you open that prerelease kit and seeing the prerelease promo in a clear plastic wrapping with just the Arena code token to go along with it. What happened to the recycleable paper wrapping that's been a thing for a bunch of prereleases? Why were no tokens included with the promo card? With 6 packs of Play Boosters you're gonna end up with maybe 3-5 tokens. Some of which could be useless ad cards, the rest Art cards. That's just not enough for a prerelease. Do better. Edit: The Prerelease kits we got here had the promo in a recycleable paper wrapper., so I guess it's only in some regions.
Got to play with the set last weekend. Loved mercenaries and outlaws, but a lot of the other stuff felt weird. Committing crime was too broad. Targeting an opponent, their gy, or anything they control is so easy to do. Spree costs felt off. Saddle, despite being one of the coolest things, had many abilities that didn't seem worth tapping down a creature for. Plot feels like a modified version of suspend, which has a similar problem. Why plot a card when I can just cast them? Turns are a cost. Just saw bounties. Don't see why these couldn't have been in the decks as an enchantment, but I absolutely love what they are going for.
i've been using a draft simulator to practice and i build a temur deck with 2 plot bears, oko thief of crowns, and loot the key to everything. red impulse draw also counts for it's ability!
Can you PLEASE stop giving countdown D20s! Give us regular a regular D20, or better yet, two D10. Please! I hate that I can never use my Magic dice. Hell, i would be happier with a single D10, then I would have a usable life counter once I played in two pre-release. And D10 are far more useful as counters during games.
2:20 - Exciting! I got an unplayable filler rare! A 2 color unplayable filler rare! The Vorthos inside me is already imagining a backstory for this cool art wasted on this bulk rare! And here's the thing: You had the option to just do ANOTHER TAKE with another prerelease pack, but you decided to feign excitement about a boring, overcosted (R). You could have replaced that deception with a fun story about the card's development... but you don't have one of those because it's a "designed to be bad" card. You also COULD have commented on the art and the artist, but you didn't even notice the most interesting things about the bad card you opened. So instead you lied to us. Shameful.
I miss prerelease. For a while now I've been working weekends and just can't attend anymore. Plus at least where I live it's about10 bucks more expensive than it used to be which is less inviting...
Red-White. I like aggro and that is the only fun aggro style deck in the format. For more controlling decks Blue-Red will be interesting to build but probably won't work very well, they underpowered the Red side of it again. Can someone over on your end of the Sound remind the designers that Red-Green is traditionally an aggro deck and they should stop forcing the slow "4+ power" archetype onto it? Please? That makes more sense on Green-Blue with its obsession with BIG creatures anyway.
Not in as many words, but they'll fit pretty well in any deck that cares about crimes because of the ping effect. So mostly RB, but UG will care too if you luck into an Oko.
There's ~3 cards in green that care about deserts, one in blue and one in black. There's also a few cards that tutor for deserts, and an uncommon bounce land that rewards you for bouncing a desert to your hand. Def not as much of an emphasis as LCI or any Ravnica set, but if you have Colossal Rattlewurm, Cactarantula or Outcaster Greenblade having at least one desert will do ya good
the thing i'm most exited about is the breaking news bonus sheet. i love how bonus sheets can shake up games like in march of the machines and the cards on the list seem really fun to play with.
10:11 Oh, so UG is ramp. Gotcha. For a second, I thought it wasn't Ramp. You know, because you lied to us and said it wasn't. But then you showed us a bunch of creatures with high mana values, and then a ramp (U). Boy, I'm so glad a company lying to you about their products is legal.
