On June 26, 2000, the Human Genome Project (HGP) public consortium announced, in a briefing at the White House, that it assembled a working draft of the sequence of the human genome. Remarks made by Bill Clinton, Tony Blair (via satellite), Francis Collins, and Craig Venter.

Its been 20 years since this - what strides exactly have we made since this? Doesnt feel like any, in a meaningful tangible sense.

I am currently reading " A life decoded, my genome my life" by Craig Venter the book elucidates on the life of a remarkable scientist and also how riddled with drama the genome project really was even till the very end. Truly a story fit for a novel.

29:23 Dr. Collins mispronounces Dr. Venter's first role. Hospital Corpsman (core-man) - an enlisted medical medic assigned to a Marine Corps unit. I am one - 8404 Fleet Marine Force. He was one in Vietnam. It is pronounced CORE-MAN! S is silent.
