Prime the engine with cheap gas, it will start right up and put some heat in the cylinders so the alky. will start to burn. I do it every week end, for about 20 years now!
The inexperience and lack of understanding with this setup is front and center. I certainly hope in the 10yrs since this video was taken that lessons have been learned. Unbelievable.
The o-ring that seals the blower base to the manifold plate had a tear in it. I thought it was fixed but apparently it wasn't. The reason it was so hard to start it that I had just fab'ed up a pressurized fuel primer assembly the night before and couldn't get the pump to pickup the fuel from the side tank. She knows what she's doing... that's Penny Boring, drives a alcohol dragster in Div 7 Super Eliminator (7.90 index 1/4mi) and also we run in the Top Eliminator West events (6.30 et. 1/4mi)
Sweet! They used to run IHBA events locally but not anymore. I think the nearest race is in Oregon somewhere now although I haven't been. We hit Mission raceway once in a while... the eliminators are running at the Lordco Nationals in June... we'll be there for that weekend for sure! Seen a lot of women in the dragsters in the past few years... gotta love it!

I asked that very question of a very Top Alky team during a light rain in Waco..."This thing drinks about 4 gallons during a run, another drop or TWO, won't make ANY difference! Tim Stokes" other racers claim, "They are just resurfacing the track..." Here is the killer, it was wed night, thursday, before the last hauler was drug out of the "Mud pits" Thanks to all for a lifetime of good times and great memories!
motor built from junk parts, btw what's up with that intake manifold. raw fuel coming from under the blower that's quality shit right there put that thing to good use on the end of a chain
Alcohol for a cold start? I think not. Try race gas. Alcohol doesn't light for shit when the engine is cold. Read the comments above. They had a primer tank that wasn't picking up fuel properly, so they engine was not getting a proper shot of race gas to light it off.
trying to talk i cant do that with blown gas ......this alky motor was not even close to being right it never cackled number one .....the idle way too high ......you had idiots trying to fire without a priming bottle......lastly you cannot talk into someones ear with zoomies ........what a goddamn joke
if you guy"s know how to build motors like us. THAT IS NOT THE WAY TO START IT WHEN IT IS COLD .I WILL TELL YOU IN OUR WORDS .you have no idea in what you are doing .
1. I am sure the owner knows a lot more than you about combustion engines. 2. When is starting an engine classed as "tuning". 3. The uploader isn't even the owner. - who are you talking to? If you can't say anything positive don't say anything.
