Rock Falls, IL for Sick Summer
Cities are beginning to see the benefits in our community! Rock Falls, IL is the latest to welcome the drag and drive community for Sick Summer.
Tom Bailey posted a video on the Sick the Magazine facebook page “Sick Summer will be making the most of a short day one drive with an official opening day party in the town of Rock Falls, Illinois.
Racers will be able to park up and enjoy live music, food trucks and local displays as the town of Rock Falls comes out to support America’s fastest real street cars on their journey throughout the Midwest.”
Austin Mackey posted on the RMRWers page about condensation on his air to water intercooler tank. Ryan Hill uses the same method as Rich Guido and Rick Steinke and uses an Igloo cooler for his tank. Joe Enrst uses self adhesive neoprene sheets and say its been good for 3 years. Anthony Harville and Jason Hurley used bed liner. Joe Barry and Nate Strunk use Lizard Skin.
I want to thank the Southeast Gasser Association community for welcoming me with open arms to the event last weekend! And thanks to Travis Clark, I got to meet a Drag Week Gasser Champion that is now racing in this series! Tim Hall is a five time drag week participant, competing in 2014, 15, 16, 17 and 18. For 2018, he raced both Drag Week and SEGA. Even though he hasn’t competed in in drag and drive since 2018, these guys still live the drag and drive lifestyle, swapping a center section in the pits after Round 1 of Qualifying. They made it through Round One of Eliminations but had a fuel pump issue taking them out in round two.
In one conversation, he said that he’ll eventually finish his other project car and bring the Scalded Dog to drag and drive!
Drag Drive Repeat is dedicated to the drag and drive communtiy! We will visit with participants of events like Summit Racing Midwest Drags, Hot Rod Drag Week, Rocky Mountain Race Week 1.0 and 2.0, Sick Week, and many of the other events that are beginning to happen!
If you are new to drag and drive style events, think of it like Two Lane Blacktop (you know, the old movie with the horrible ending). The participants of these events will drive their car from track to track, on public roads/highways, allowed only to use the parts/tools they bring with them in the car or in a trailer towed by the racecar. You must be self sufficient to compete in this type of endurance drag racing! There are no trucks with trailers that are following you to pick you up when you break.
