Being Italian Trixie being shocked at kids smoking on school ground made me laugh. The first high school I went to was very preppy and extremely strict but still at the mid day break kids and teachers smoked literally in the same area. We also had the "salamellata" which was a monthly event for charity where we ate sausage sandwiches at night in the school perimeter with a beer kiosk in the park near by and teachers didn't give a fuck if 15 years old were completely hammered in the school perimeter. The other school I went to tho was in the depressed area I live in and teachers were very vocal about not supporting smoking. But still when I broke down crying after a teacher screamed at me one day I went smoking in the parking lot and she came to me and apologized, totally unphazed by the fact I was smoking. Damn now that I think of it in my middle school 12 years old "bad boys" used to smoke waiting for the classes to start... The fact is tho that not having very harsh prohibitions makes all of this boring after a while and people in their 20s often stop binge drinking and smoking weed without even realizing it, because it isn't fun and "prohibited"anymore
