I am 74 years old and run a gorgeous Marina Bay Blue X5 M Competition with the Ultimate and other packs, if I had this car when I was a lot younger, I probably would not have been posting today!!! To offset my carbon footprint I also run an i3s and have just purchased a new Mini Cooper S, all are fun to drive. Of course, I know that I am crazy.

I love both of them. I prefer BMW but it’s not because of the speed. I like it because overall fits better and the speed difference doesn’t matter because nobody drives like this all the times.

@Rambo Stuart That's not right. The normal M models are not meant to be the competitor of any RS or AMG models. Therefore the competition models are called "competition". And Audi simply got rid of the "performance" badge. The new RSQ8, RS6 etc. are already the top models.

Try them both again in the Dry and add the X6M and Urus into the mix. Now that would be fair. I think RSQ8 Quattro system is the hold back some here as is slight power advantage to the M.

The thing is that all the new audi rs are not rs performance pack, like it was with the old version of the rs6/7. Its the standard power train, wait till audi get's out the performance pack on their cars. Becouse that is an X5MCompetition, bring the X5M standard see the difference.

Hello guys. Had a little legal drag between my X5 4.0d and Audi Q7 4.2 tdi not so far. For some reason, 4.2 Audi has lost every time! Had 4 legal accelerations same time and Audi was behind me. Honestly was surprised me as my bimmer's engine is only 3 liters diesel with twin turbos..... it was lovely legal runs from 50 to 70 mph and I believe both drivers were satisfied.

M50i has the same engine block as X5M has but was detuned but is AUD100k cheaper than RSq8 in Australia. It is a great buy.

those 23" wheels on the Audi might be adding a significant amount of rotational mass, I also think Audi just mapped the throttle softer, you know its the Audi mantra "smooth".

I think launch control is just better in new bmws than Audi. Also the tires width, on X5m is 315 size standard in the back which would give it better traction in rain.

The thing with BMW is, that they always has more Power then they say. i Drive an M235i Gran Coupe and it says 306 HP / PS.. we tested it so often and it always says 329 HP / PS. Same with M5Comp it says 625 and has 670 to 680

It’s crazy to think you can buy an older 2012 F10 M5 with the same engine as that in a lighter car for not much more than £20k, then remap it to 750bhp lol.
