The 850 has more traction for take off and better gears for powder riding while srx is more for the top end of racing

I finally had the pleasure of riding a beautiful SRX triple just like yours, this past weekend. What a treat, the sound alone was music to my ears but buddy had it tuned up well and I was very impressed with the power and response. It was just a joy to ride. Enjoy Deep Blue Something something (the sled) lol.

Put these two sleds on a hard packed trail and race a 1/4 mile. That’s srx will wipe the floor with that 850.

No sheet they are totally 2 different sleds set up 2 different ways. How can you even compare? If you put low track with studs and changed gearing the new sled would destroy the SRX. Just setup different

Run 8bu weights that are heeled in primary. Stiffer spring to bring engagement of a bit. And run a steeper helix in the secondary. 21 40 gearing. Make sure valves are clean and you should see the bottom end open up on that sled. Won't go by the 850 but will be right by its side

I’m at 6500ft and race in usually 40 degrees weather in soft unpacked snow.

That SRX needs it's power valves cleaned adjusted to spec carbs completely serviced a few more degrees off timing and an aggressive healkicker clutch kit with a stiffer primary a spring. These simple mods would turn that fun sled into something scary. I am a CAT man but my best friend has been kicking my ass since we had 340's then he got an 84 Phazer and really maid me look stupid.

Srx is such a beautiful and power house on the right terain! Yamaha has my vote 👍. The new sleds just look like reptials 😂. The late 90s early 2000s sxr or srx have the best look of all time. Even the new srx dosnt compare.

You’re right. We don’t know much about drag sleds out here. Just mountain kids. I’m gonna do some racing on the trail this year and really let they SRX shine. She’s not an off trail riper. Oh and the Matryx is 2.75 lug btw 😬.

She was hitting 8500 RPM but she was jetted too rich. I already dropped two jet sizes on the main since filming this video. I still wants less fuel. I'll be filming a new video once I have her running. 100%

I agree a longer track would be great. We were racing in loose deep snow so studs wouldn’t help. Next time I wanna race this sled on the trail. I should blow it’s doors off.

@@FeederCountry @Feeder Country Those are both awesome sleds, I'm stuck in the 90s. I aquired an old 440 Jag that I'm currently driving, in Alaska sleds are used daily. Some of my friends ask me why I'm driving a piece of crap sled? After a month of use I'm now an Arctic Cat fan! All companies definitely built very bulletproof sleds that outlast most in the 80s, 90 and 00's 😁

@Feeder Country In the Alaskan bush.... I'd rather get stuck out checking traps and underwater nets using any bygone Era 80s-2000s sled. They are much easier to troubleshoot and work on definitely. I'm happily driving my 90s Jag 440 with a 136 inch track. It gets past 70 easy, but it's strong engine, ease of maintenance got my respect 😁

Those SRXs were missiles back in the day. They lived on the long stretches of lake here in Northern Ontario… and got dusted in the bumps on trails. I’d love to see an 850 running a Mach Z 800 or XCR 800 trip-trip.
