Merc GT R isn't built for standing start drag races - it'll lose every time because that's not what it's built for. It'll nail almost everything from a rolling start though (which is what it's designed for, because full races aren't just standing starts). You need rolling starts too.
It creates so much drag though, that is what is currently scarong me from buying one (amg gts/gtr) i have goals of wanting to build it to make 1400hp at the wheels (gad vip stage) and take it imsa to have them work on the car to get to around 3200 lbs (check out their imsa rxr amg gts/gtr) i just worrying that itll be slower then a corvettes and lambos due to drag.... Any adivce or tips?
you can make that exact same statement for the GT3, bc it has a massive wing on the back, if you didn’t see. The merc can’t beat the gt3 on a track, here the amg is outmatched. The porsche made 7:20 around the nurburgring, when the amg did 7:33. The gt3 can beat the merc on the straights and corners
@@austinweippert4065 Then i rectify because i was wrong for both these cars. Searched for both wrong, in the vid they have the gt3 rs and the amg gtr and the 911 gt3 rs driven by Kevin Estre did 6:56 minutes around the nurburgring
Let me tell you….the Turbo is a hero off the line but apart from that uninspiring and boring as a sports car. Drove the 991.2 Turbo S Cabrio and was emotionally completely DISAPPOINTED. But as daily driver in summer and winter time with awd, pdk…and other gimmicks no one needs in a Porsche…it can also be used as a substitute for a quiet and fast limousine!
That statement is usually used when something has failed to meet required expectations...that Gt-r (in small letters) further loses to the M5 and im not even referring to the competition pack and of course, in a longer track, its more a pauser rather than a purposeful car..

I have Mercedes AMG GTR 21MY. It is so amazing car. I`ve owend Porsche 911 Carrera S 21MY, but I sold early because 992 is not fun car to me. 922 loses exhaust so that I can not satisfy that car.. Not fun for me. Last year, I bought Merceces AMG GTR and very satisfied with AMG GTR. Amazing car ever.

Can't go wrong with any of these. GT3RS NA sound, amazing tracking ability and supreme handling. AMG GT-R: V8 Rumble goodness. Turbo S: An Engineering Marvel and insane speed and useability.
I haven’t watched the video yet, but a race between a 4 wheel drive car that goes fast in a straight line and two cars that are fast and turn well. It can only go one way. But nice to see them all together

@@dimitris9573 yes but it launches like a built every single time, my point was that the other guy was blaming the AMG driver , and I would say switch the drivers and you will see the same thing
Very nice video but 7 second 100-200 time is very slow for the gtr. I used to own one and here in turkey the fuel that we get is just junk and still my car ran 6.3-6.5 almost every time but regardless this video is a really nice comparrission

If the AMG had 4matic+ or if you guys had a Rolling race, the Merc would have just thrown the Gt3rs and would have jacked up with turbo s pretty decently because RWD's aren't good at straight line acceleration
Instead of all of these videos of people drag racing track cars, can someone start making videos of people putting drag cars on a (street) track? It will probably be more entertaining to watch.
U see how porsches downforce just kicks in at high speeds also the smaller 6cyl is worse on top speed also the amg has a twin turbo 4l v8, so no chance there
