Xuv 300 is a renamed Syyangyong Tivoli.... chopped to make it under 4m length for tax benefits.... nothing indian about it

I purchased the Nexon manual diesel soon after it was launched. It has been an amazing experience. I have driven it across all kinds of terrains. It moves like a charm on steep mountain roads in the sport mode.

It was a tough call for me as well. Finally I chose XUV over Nexon. After having done around 6000 kms I can proudly say that I made the right decision. If you’re a driving enthusiast you’re gonna love this car and it’s frugal on fuel as well. If driven calmly it easily gives a mileage of 22 Kmpl and above on highways

The xuv's first 4 gears are really short and it's good as dead at 3900 rpm ,it's pointless to be in 4th gear past 110 km/h while the Nexon can pull strongly till 100 even in 3rd gear ... It's evident in the second race while the Nexon starts slightly closing the xuv shows a jump meaning a gear shift and it maintains it's lead well .

Well I would say top end of Nexon is more torquier than any of its rivals it pulls hard even in 6th gear. As xuv has more power it would win but in long drags Nexon could beat it.

Exactly.. there is no option to switch off the traction control.

Nexon came second because there is no option to turnoff the tranction control in it . That's the reason why it lagged initially . And for those who don't know about traction control it cuts the over power delivered by the engine which is a con for drag races.This feature is useful when the cars gets in muddy roads.however mahindra also provides this traction control feature which u can operate manually.😃

Pls also start to do a in gear acceleration test too from 40kmph in 2nd gear for 400 meters. Drag race is notrelatable to daily drive or overtaking. But in gear acceleration test makes more sense!

Yeah, observe the wheelspin on xuv. Nexon doesn't have any. I believe it's traction control restricting the power on nexon during the initial phase.

Yes Nexon has some dead spots but when it's engine gets enough Rpm then wow this is gem of engine. I think Tata should fix its electronics otherwise best engine for performance and power!

Nexon has traction control on as default and it cannot be switched off. That shaves off the quickness a bit I guess.

Hence, proven XUV300 is more powerful, faster and safer than Nexon.(Build quality - Nexon : 5Star adult safety rating, and 3Star child safety rating, XUV300 : 5Star adult safety rating, and 4Star child safety rating, and more safety features).

Yes Xuv is a bit better car. But mahindra ruined it in less ground clearance, less mileage, less boot, old dash and one and a half lakh expensive than Nexon . I wish the first race continued few seconds and Nexon could hv won. Also Nexon has pleanty electronic functions like traction control which avoids it from initial pull. Anyways, ur choice of Xuv is not wrong but Certainly Nexon is better overall!

XUV 300 is the best Compact SUV with Little Boot Space. Although, Looking At the Power Figure, It doesn't belong From Any Compact SUV Families. Boot Ko cut Kar in logona Under 4 Meter Bana Diya. Like, Chota Hand but Bara Biceps.

Dude, don't lie, cause my dad owns an XUV300, and has no major issues with the boot, cause the boot opening is large. And if you wonder why the boot is small, is because of better second row space. The Nexon has a smaller space for second row passengers, you might not know but the boot on the XUV300 is practical enough, and what we need is a better second row space. The venue, Sonet, Nexon, etc in this segment expect Breeza provide terrible second row space, which if you own one, you will know.

XUV 300 beats tata nexon in every meteric. From safety to speed. Mahindra is the most deserving Indian automaker. Unfortunately too many tata fanboys on the internet. Also, Mahindra's new mStallion engines are true gems.

Ahh not actually. CRDI 1.5+ VGT seems to be more quicker. Just check-out seltos vs XUV 300 drag race. Note: sonet Diesel Automatic has same engine and turbo setup as seltos.

This was not the engine that was offered to the ford by the mahindra actually. It was the petrol engine that is to be unveiled in the upcoming xuv 300 sport which gives an output of 130ps. Ford already have a viable diesel engine for ecosport which is what sells the most. But they really missed out on that joint venture which was really needed for ford to further strengthen their roots on the Indian market.

When specs were displayed I got it that XUV300 would win before drag race would start as XUV300 has more powerful diesel engine and heavier weight but still it managed to defeat Nexon because Nexon had advantage of weight but diesel had less power and torque. Both are good in their qualities and must say despite being an Ecosport lover that XUV300 is a cheetah SUV

This was the most awaited drag race I should say. Finally.... the result was as expected, XUV3OO beats Nexon. That 300Nm of Torque is really a jaw dropping thing ;) After watching this drag race I’m pretty sure the other cars in the segment too will loose.

Considering the price gap of 1-1.8 lacs between Xuv 300 and Nexon, I will chose to be slower by 0.1-0.2 seconds and use that money to add 30k kilometres on the odo, also I get more service centres and a bigger boot.

Both the companies deliver amazing quality. My motorcycle is a Mahindra Mojo 300 and car is a Tata Tiago. Both feel very planted while they are on the move, both are fast, and both are extremely comfortable. The Mojo is a true SUV on 2 wheels. I love both Mahindra and Tata vehicles.

Both are great cars, but Nexon is a far better allrounder. XUV has a laughable boot, premium pricing, the rear looks chopped off and the interior looks outdated. Both are excellent cars in their own right so let's not compare them.

Nexon is best for other reasons 1st one interior of XUV still have outdated interior. 2nd back seat thigh support & comfortable. 3rd best in price segment (sunroof) 4th out look XUV also have best things 1st child safety 4 starts 2nd ABS for all wheels 3rd back seat adjustable for head rest

I think the drivers should have been swapped for the second drag race to eliminate driver element in the result. Maybe you guys can think over this for future such races. Always a fan of Autocar India 👍

XUV300 is the best in segment. I had a test drive if Nexon and XUV 300 in the same day in 10minuts gap. I found in Nexon a big cabin noice and hard clutch. XUV300 is very smooth. And I find blaind spot in Nexon A pillar. Body roll also more in Nexon. XUV300 has less boot space and less ground clearance ,because of this we are getting more rare space and less body roll. XUV 300 (D) has a powerful engine. It will give us a fun to drive experience. Over taking in highway by XUV 300 is really fun. After 2 months clear study I bought XUV300 W8(O) D manual. I am really very happy. Driving in city and even in high way is amazing. Corner stability is super. Very easy gare shift and. easy clutch. Because of the all 4 wheal disc breaks we get amazing braking. XUV300 has a lots of futures and super Safety too. If you want to drive an international standard SUV in 15.5L (top end diesel on road) go to XUV300 W8(O) without any hesitation. If your budget is low go for W6.

Now a days OEMs are providing advance safety features but they ignore simple but important feature of rear adjustable headrests. Many cars have very small fixed headrests at the rear in lower variants. Please take up with OEMs especially Tata (adjustable rear headrests only in XZ+ variant of Nexon)

Well other than the design and very very outdated cabin the car is pretty good They should address it in a face-lift as this is the highest competitive car segment

Both cars have 5 star safety rating BUT i feel Xuv 300 is more safer than Nexon as Nexon's too high ground clearance and overall body shape makes it more risky at higher speed and turns and i believe anti roll over protection is not too reliable.

Traction control in Nexon is also playing its part causing a smooth launch with no wheel spin at all while we can clearly see wheel spin in XUV 300.
