It's interesting that dragnet did this show on addiction while pushing another addiction. Nicotine is addicting and can kill you just as dead. But it was more socially acceptable at the time of this broadcast. Throughout these episodes Joe Friday smoked, bummed Cigarettes from friends and colleagues, lit cigarettes for colleagues and criminals and witnesses. Then they pushed cigarettes on the public through their advertisements. Sad.
