I really like that Dorian and Solas actually discuss the magic they do on a technical level. "Snapping" the veil like cracking the whip for a better spell effect, discussing the flair that redirects magic into your own aura, Dorian realising how much Tevinter took from Ancient Elves... shame that Vivienne dialogues with either of them don't have that. she's *supposed* to be unlikeable due to her devotion to the system, both of the Circles and the nobility, but then the writers didn't put enough into her banters to truly like her. She's got some fun stuff with Varric about her being a villain in his stories, and The Iron Bull comparing her to Tamassrans, but like. Here's a perfect example of why Solas and Dorian, while they have unlikeable traits, ultimately win it for me: they are working together and brushing their edges on one another. Dorian can still have his fashion gripes about Solas, and smartness with magic discussions and Big Damn Questions about how someone like Solas could even exist as an apostate outside of Souther Thedas systems (which then get proven by the fact that he's *not* just a simple apostate), and still be put in his place about the slavery in Tevinter, about the belief in the education and history that was taught to him. And Solas gets pushed about his plan of tearing down the Veil and being Fen'Harel again by... simply existing with these people, who are not a dream, who are pushing at his buttons yelling WE'RE REAL, and put Solas in his place about how his beliefs are the sole perfect plan to complete. Good shit.
Just because he doesn't think he CAN doesn't mean he won't try. Solas forgets that mere mortals aren't as capable of nation wide upheaval as him. Also their has been several attempt to ban slavery in the Imperium, each time the person was assassinated and slavery was instantly reinstated.
