Until a day ago I didn't even know this scene existed as apparently the only way to get the scene is by having high enough approval with Vivienne which I thought I had already done on previous games. The more you know I guess...
Agreed! When I first played inquisition I didn't think that I would like her but I had a good approval rating with her (as my first play-through went on) and honestly wished I had given her more credit at the beginning. She's an amazing ally and friend in the game.
Given that the community seems pretty split on Vivienne it's not surprising that a good chunk of people missed out on the approval necessary to get this scene or be aware that she responds differently to you when you first talk in Skyhold based on how much approval you have from her.
@@set9034 For me, I had to speak with her after the personal quest, leave Skyhold, return, speak to her again (this time about the next Divine), again leave Skyhold, return and speak with her again and it finally triggered.
I got this scene on my first play through, which is odd. Vivienne always disapproved of my actions/opinions most of time. But, she respected me in the end. 😆 I even vouched for her to be the next divine, but Cassandra got picked either way. Then again the game is glitched. So, no surprise. I see what you mean.
Pffffffff I just realized that my play throughs where I do my best to befriend her, I do her quest but around that time I wonder off. Totally my fault that I’ve 15+ games but never caught this scene. Thank you for sharing though! Going to try for it once I get BG3 out of my system.
The thing is, there are rumors that Grand Cleric Marcelline will play an instrumental role in picking the next Divine. Vivienne brings this woman to Skyhold to meet you - someone who will also play a crucial role here. And that ring she gives you…is essentially a bribe. She’s not as obvious about it as Cassandra, but Vivienne wants the Sunburst Throne. Vivienne is just greasing the wheels here, but I do admire her guile.
I admire everything about her, definitely my favorite character in this game, especially her intelligence, elegance and sass, especially in her banters with Sera and Blackwall. About Marceline I totally agree that's her motivation for inviting her to Skyhold. However, about the Inquisitor in this case I differ a little, while of course the Inquisitor is a means to her objective (My Inquisitor makes her Divine), in this scenario in specific I actually believe she considers the Inquisitor a friend and cares for him/her, at this point the Inquisitor already helped her in THAT personal matter that means the most to her, she opened a part of her life that I don't think she allows just anyone to pry and you corresponded to her (at least if you actually truly helped her in that matter with the correct wyvern heart). That is why, there is another scene with low approval, which is essentially this (without the ring) were the Inqusitor is just a stepping stone for her and shows what you say.
Bribe? Sorry, but you're just antagonizing her like 90% of the fandom. Vivienne tells us she considers the Inquisitor as a friend twice, she shows us her most vulnerable side when Bastien dies and she doesn't regret it, when we give the Snowy Wyvern's heart without questioning her, Vivienne smiles like: "He/She really trusted me, he's/she's a true friend. I think I can trust him/her now." and when the Inquisitor drinks from the well and faints, she freaks out for a moment. I studied Vivienne's personality type, she's an ESTJ, people with that personality type don't know how to show feelings very well.. The way Vivienne shows she cares about the Inquisitor is like.. When she pays him/her a spa day with her to relax and gossip, when she gives the Inquisitor the ring, when she says that she's going to introduce the Inquisitor to her seamstress or when she says that she's dying to shop with the Inquisitor in the Trespasser DLC.
@@barbiecore_ And I think that she really holds to that "friends and alies", like it's the same thing. That trust will go away really fast once you stand in her way. She can be nice, but she will never sacrifice anything for anyone.
@@RichardMocny1 And here we go... Well, I'm going to use in-game canon evidence to prove you wrong., as I always do. "That trust will go away really fast once you stand in her way." -Wrong, you can befriend Vivienne even if your Inquisitor is a Pro-Mage one and supports Leliana as Divine. Vivienne is so much more than a stereotyped power hungry woman, you really should analyze her properly before jumping to wrong conclusions.. "She can be nice but she will never sacrifice anything for anyone." Divine Vivienne's epilogue: "As the Inquisition forces returned to civilian life, its mages pushed for independence from the Circle. Divine Victoria, secure on her Sunburst Throne-and with a rebuilt Chantry Circle at her disposal- *chose to be magnanimous.* She grudgingly allowed them to remain as the College of Enchanters, *as a mark of her regard for the Inquisition.* " - "Some believed that the end of the Inquisition as it had been heralded the destruction of the fledgling College of Enchanters. Having clashed against the Circle, the College now found itself without support against the newly elected Grand Enchanter, Vivienne. Fortunately, Grand Enchanter Vivienne grudgingly *agreed not to destroy its terrified leaders, as a personal favor to Divine Victoria.* " -Vivienne gives her life In Hushed Whispers so the Inquisitor and Dorian could survive. So... Well, you are wrong.
@@brahmantyoihsan5938 Ye you need enough approval from her. If you have a bad relationship with her even if u give her the real heart, the cutscene will not trigger.
@@SisterTheohild I did make some important decisions that go against her belief (like allying with mages and Grey Wardens), but my approval is high enough for her to call me a friend (and to support her as the next Divine, should I choose to do so). Really makes me wonder just how much approval one needs to get this scene.
