DRAGON AGE VEILGUARD 20min Gameplay Reaction & First Impression 

No blood, no gore, no rain, no snow, no dirt, no grime..nothing that would make it in anyway seem detailed or like they care. It's a badly told fairy tale with none of the grit and darkly fantastic realism we loved in DAO or even DA2. This is just straight Failguard.

I just finished watching it and they have tripled down on all the changes I've been disliking since DA2. Absurd marvel superhero somersault combat with added button mash. A more cartoony art style(every demon looks like an rgb keyboard instead of a demon), the same dialogue wheel that doesn't match the spoken voice lines. This isn't an RPG series anymore.

Why tf is Varric like the main character of the whole series now?

Dragon age has been action combat since DAII and they leaned further into it with Inquisition. Now it seems they have gone all-in with no aspects of classic rpg combat left.

Edit: I just noticed at 11:42 Varrick levitates in a drop-kick position, fires a railgun and lands on his feet. WTF. DAO was the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate 2 before Pathfinder Kingmaker came out. DA2 was flawed, but had some good ideas and I loved the variety of builds you had at your disposal. DAI was the game which introduced me to the trans activism, of which I had no idea before. It did so pretty much by calling me a bigot for asking a question, so imagine my reaction to a game that's supposed to entertain me, instead lecturing me. But there were still elements of it I enjoyed even though I got too bored with it to finish because of it's MMORPG-like design. Veilguard doesn't look like an RPG to me. It looks like an action-adventure game, which we have far too many nowadays for me to give a damn, and that's even if I ignored the character designs. ALso at this point I'm sure that Varric is just someone's self-insert, I can't believe he's still a primary character...

I honestly couldn't care less about this new Dragon Age. I've played all previous DA games, content and expansions. I have no interest in playing or paying for a mobile game.

So Overwatch and Borderlands had a baby and they're pawning it off as Dragon Age i'll pass on this BS Dumpster Fire

Mobile UI, mobile dialogue, mobile combat, mobile sterilization. What the hell happened? I remember DA:O having a cool, fitting and atmospheric user interface, shitton of dialogue options, and fucking blood spilling everywhere which even stayed on the characters during cutscenes not to mention *BLOOD* *MAGIC* . And that was 15 years ago! Either rename this or rename and preserve Origins because there is no way both game belong to the same franchise.

For me all they really needed to do was keep combat similar to Inquisition. I thought it rode the line between action and tactical well enough. I actually liked it the most when I played all three games back to back.

Yeah, give it a chance. I'll wait and see what you say after you've played it for a while. I am NOT buying this based on what I've seen without the opinion of a few people that I trust.

Companions are needed just to keep the enemies buzzy while you attack mindlessly . When you cant control them ( and they don't have health bar)there is no tension

Meh. Hard to judge by a small slice of early game stuff, but It looks like its marketed for children... which is fine, but it doesnt exite me. The dialogue is very teenagery/marvelesque. Saying stuff like 'crap' and 'timing stinks'. Its very "modern audience". Not a fan of the tone and aesthetic either, but it looks leagues better than the first trailer suggested. This section was also linear af, which im not a huge fan of in these type of RPGs. Ill be open to seeing more.

Bioware of the old doesn't exist. All important people, main writers, designers and devs left ages ago. There is nothing left of that brand, but the name, no wonder the new game feels totally different, especially with all the DEI requirements ham-fisted everywhere to please certain investor groups.

It's quite fun, I have watch this trailer three time, and after four hours I have forgotten what the trailer were about and how the combat looked :) Could be my bad memory of old age, but also could be the game didn't peak my interested at all. A shame that they went the all dumb-action-style of combat. They choose to show us this, they could show us some middle ground and some late game combat as well without spoiling the story. The game will surly be an OK game, but a shame that it's not going to be a great game. Dragon Age Origin was a dark and gritty fantasy.... and now we get Dragon Age Fortnite Fantasy :D

This looks horribly cartoonish and the movies are Marvelized. The language they use is modern and not like the prior games. Because they filled out the DEI card with the companions it means none of them can have flaws or even be like Morrigan. This just isnt in the same ball park as DA:O and a far, far step below the other 2 games. If we take into account this is the studio that last made Andromeda and Anthem how can you really have high hopes for the game?

14:40 I'm not a fan of the enemies so far, Dragon Age Origin's enemy design was darker and more fitting the setting, even DA:I handled it better than Veilguard. DA:V enemies feel totally different, and like from a different franchise, too colourful and too cheerful.

Idk. I miss alot about origins but there were tbings i did like about 2 and inquisition. Keep on mind origins is my favorite in the series. I dont mind what i saw but its not enough for me to say. Gotta wait for those reviews.

Yea... Dragon Age: Vermintide/Darktide. Game looks like it's probably going to play Dragon Age 2, combat will probably be decent, but it's not going to be near Origins or Inquisition in any way shape or form. History does repeat itself, huh?

I don’t like it when your character feels too omnipotent in these type of high fantasy games, it kills immersion and any sense of danger. Not that I would be want to get one-shot or something like that, but when the enemies just stand there waiting their turn to get cut up like a piñata it doesn’t make me interested in the game or my characters progression. And if there’s no danger than I guess you don’t need that many abilities, maybe you’ll have like 2 or three abilities max. This game seems very dumbed down even the dialogue options seem very inconsequential

The game looks so faceless, tasteless, toothless and safe, when watching the gameplay I caught myself thinking that this is a game from Ubisoft, and not from Bioware Such an unprincipled generic product that does not stand out against the background of the same unprincipled products

This is the next evolution of DA, inquisition was a pseudo action game with the ilusion of an rpg back bone, you could dodge all atacks but the numbers were king. Veilguard lools like a run of the mill ability based action game with a dodge mechanic. The fact that party control wheel looks more like mass effect makes me even more concerned. This is all speculation since game is yet to be played, even so i have no faith in DA. The first game was a creative 3rd person crpg with a dark and cool world. In DA O you had choices: You could equip the caracters without arbitrary restrictions. You had actual builds and variations between the main builds, expecialy mages. You could actualy explore, make mistakes. The dialogue was presented in a more natural light without the emotion icons, that signpost the emotion and morality of those choices. Title by title dragon age was striped of its core and design strenghts to better suit publisher greed, sistems were streamlined and all elements were casualized. Unfortunately im am done with this series.

'm honestly really concerned it seems like they made this game for kids and new people and just making it shiny and they forgetting about the old fans that made dragon age is what it is the art style really bothers me demon's only have half bodies now the u i and the combat looks really dumbed down that's for new players tho i was really looking forward to this game but it wasn't made for us sadly hell i don't even think ill romance anyone if the art style is so overwatch looking what bioware games romance is a huge part of it or was it's just sad

I have the perfect example it looks exactly like dark alliance there is not even a question about it. I sayed this in other channels the ubisoft black gay samurai combat was 10x better. And I don't liked that game as well. They turned it to a Disney + game for small kids. No blood cutting limbs critical finishers.

Same reason we have african elves in the game and no curvy, sexy women. 0 interest in this "modern audience" product with Batman style button mashing combat and inoffensive dialogue where the only two dialogue choices are dumb reddit sarcasm and serious response.

A cartoony wokery mess. Got to love ubisoft. Take a well loved series, and annihilate it before its even released. It looks horrific. This would not look and sound out of place on saturday morning kids tv. The narration is terrible. Its that teen playground where no npc or character is over the age of 20. And gone is any strategy. Went with pure action. Nope nothing redeeming here at all, and this is before £115 ultimate versions, quests locked behind dlc, season passes, and early access purchases...and cosmetics.

What did fans expect about the direction of the combat? 3 out of 4 Dragon Age games have been action combat. Can we just move on from the common complaint that this game is not Oringin? This video proves to me you know nothing about dragon age as a whole. First you said the enemies look cool even tho they look nothing like they do in the old games, then you say the combat is the same as 2 when its clearly nothing like it, i wasn't a huge fan of 2 but that was because of repetition of dungeons and it was set in 1 place with the only differences being night and day other than that the story and combat were great
