Big up to whomever came up with idea for this series, lovely to get to know all companions before my Rook makes terrible decisions and ruins their lives 😂
I approve your belief in making wise choices. I probably will end up with several failures. Hopefully not one ending in Davrin's death by accident lol.
The fact too that the dude didn't want Nadia time he wanted "little egg" drayden time is even funnier. Bc not only is drayden thirsty but apparently also a snack lol
@@pokeboy166 i love it so much, i dont like audiobooks cus I'm not a fan of the one person narration, but having voice actors and sound effects just feels sooo immirsive and so fun to picture what's happening
Reminds me of how much fun I used to have listening to all the old Sherlock Holmes radio dramas. I had a whole set that a friend had made copies of on cassette tape. (Yes, that long ago lol.)
First time I'm listening to a podcast in my life, never been a big podcast guy, and I just say this is making the bus rides while I'm stuck serving in the army far more exciting. Also I'm going to fuck the shit out of Davrin at every chance i get😈

If we met Nadia and Drayden AND have Davrin there as companion, Nadia better say that to him. Plus I expect Drayden to get all drooling mode attitude again.
The quakity is next level for these podcasts and love how naturally the story prgresses! The other grey warden with Davrin has an awesome voice Excellent ending to this episode too! Can't wait to meet Davrin in The Veilguard
Fantastic episode! I cannot rant and rave about Davrin's voice enough. My goodness - it's soooo good. Loved the writing & pacing. The episode was over in what seemed like seconds! Just so good!
Bioware's marketing for The Veilguard has been a little... weird... but DAMN if this audiobook/podcast isn't a stroke of genius!! With each week, listening makes me more and more excited for the game. Not to mention that I'm currently playing through Inquisition, Origins and DA2 at the moment!! Dragon Age is easily in my top 3 fantasy verses!!
I remember the radio dramas before television and this is just as brilliant a superb production. I have played Dragon Age 1-3, currently reading Tevinter Nights and very much looking forward to Veilguard.
Honestly, Dragon Age and audio dramas are a match made in heaven-a relatively inexpensive but immersive vehicle for wider stories set in the DA universe? I can't believe they haven't done this before!
This was the best episode so far. The chemistry between all of the characters was great. I particularly liked the relationship between Darvin and his Grey Warden friend/mentor.
I still wonder what was their original mission that Davrin wasn't so sure about. He was asking about gryphons - does that mean they were supposed to investigate rumour that gryphons survived ? It would be neat if Davrin in game would mention Goff when talking about how he found Assan.
Ok, Davrin is hottt! I definitely knew he was from the first time i saw him. But sheeeesh! Each new look we get of him, he keeps getting finer. I'm just hoping bioware didn't give him the Jacob treatment.
@@TragoudistrosMPH Don't remind me. He is Gray Warden on our team and they called the dragons 'archdemons' already. If he is going to try sacriface himself to kill one of these things, I probably will need an option to restrain him.
i recall there being some mention of how different companions have slightly different behaviors and priorities in combat - it would be so funny if Davrin was actually a kill-stealer in game lmaooo
Just a fun heads-up for the Davrin fans: the VA also acts a character in SWTOR that is romanceable. His name is Koth Vortena, and they sound exactly alike (for obvious reasons). Go check him out! 🥰
So that's second MMO he plays in then. Ah well I still wish I could have helped Rada al-Saran in ESO, pretty much only vampire lord I wanted to help in entirety of TES franchise.
He's also Javik in Mass Effect 3, and has one of the most metal lines "Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls, and ask the ghosts if honor matters. The silence is your answer."
@@katie42496 Ah Javik had a lot of such lines, I really loved that companion. ME 3 savior for me. It will be interesting competition to me for Davrin as to which role of Ike Amadi I love the most - Davrin, Javik or Rada. The sheer amount of emotions VA pulled as Rada .. oh gods that was something else. I really hope Veilguard has good direction in writing, because I know this VA can pull myriad of emotions perfectly. Javik and Rada were proof of that.
I feel bad, because some people are not owing to experience this. This is the type of stuff we need to really get to know the characters beyond just playing the game that sadly many people don’t have the attention span to enjoy. Thanks for putting this out.
Drayden: "Are you okay?..." Davrin: *grunts* "Sitff but ready for action." Drayden: "Oh!" *takes a moment until realizing the phrasing* GOOD LORD, lmao
Bless everyone involved in these FOR REAL. Such a lovely idea and so well done!! This even got me into listening to those old radio novellas my country used to make too haha
I really liked this episode! It really felt "Dragon Agey" to me😀 I may have let out a squeal of delight when Davrin yelled "For the Wardens!" And on the subject of Davrin... God Draden, SAME. I loved their awkward flusteredness with him and the quiet little reciprocation at the end was EVERYTHING! Especially since Draden was INSTANTLY down bad. They're like a stand in for the fandom! 😂 Only issue is now I feel bad if I romance Davrin as Rook because it means it didn't work out for them ;3; More generally about Davrin, I LOVED how they expressed so much about him in one episode. We know he's a skilled warrior, we know how he fights, he's honour and duty bound and he's always ready help those in need. Except we also know he'll disregard rank and protocol when it suits him and that he's a glory hound and monster hunter who's always after a new adventure. And most importantly... We know he might have a thing for willowy elfin scholars who fawn over him? :3 Ok that's my gay heart satisfied, let's talk some fucking LORE! Elven murals in the deep roads have generally been very closely associated with the personal property of particular Evinauris. Mythal in the lyrium plant, Ghilannain in the monster factory. Presumably, this is Fenharels personal haunt of some kind, or maybe another Mythal one since Fenharel seemed to be her guard dog kinda. So interested to see what's beyond for Draden and Nadia. Interesting that Davrin knew ancient elven, perhaps he's more studious than first impressions would suggest. I also liked the nod to the "rumours" about gryphons. I bet Weisshaupt is buzzing with excitement :p Last note, I know it's cruel of me but I was REALLY hoping either Davrin or Gough(?) (Davrins companion) was just gonna like... Gut Harek for interfering. I understand that would have been very brutal but like. He had it coming! And also it would have been very Duncan of them! So yeah, great ep and really looking forward to what's next. I'm really growing fond of Nadia and Draden :D P.S. I had this thought last week and was disappointed my theory seemed incorrect, but I think Draden knows more than they let on. Personally I'm on team "apostate out for magical knowledge putting on unassuming airs", since they seems extremely knowledgeable about the Fade for someone who's supposedly only read about it. Either way, I love the character and LOVE LOVE LOVE every scene where they get to smack someone with a book or lob grenades or whatever :D Looking forward to next week's episode!
I think they toned down on Warden's gutting down people after Duncan. Mostly because it made look Duncan like psychopath and Allistair crying for him half the game like a cretin lol. I know that was my brother's sentiment. When Duncan died he was like "Good riddence", can't say I disagreed with him.
@@cracmar03 that's totally fair! I understand where you're coming from and it totally comes out of left field in DAO, but like... That guy REALLYYY deserved it :p sounds like he didn't survive the fall though so he got what was coming to him hahaha
@@No_Plays_Hand_Empty Oh that guy deserved it 100%. I was totally buying Davrin's cold stance of "Guys like you always get what's coming to them" I was to this like "YES, you tell him !"
Ehm, depends. Attracted to Davrin ? Hell yes. Mumbling on words ? No, I probably will be sarcastic as heck. And good thing Davrin from cutscene footage is also tending to be sarcastic given the liquor storage joke interaction between him and Rook.
@@GarethOfByzantium I wish Lucanis didn't reminded me of Blackwall .. that's my biggest turn off for him. Oh and they said he is socially awkward which is ... not reminding me of Zevran at all. I still hope I will like Lucanis though.
SPOILERS for this episode, but why is no one commenting about this: we literally just witnessed two of the characters get eaten by spiders and no one cares?! Like, Davrin at least said goodbye to his Warden friend, but what about poor Ollie? Noone is traumatized by the fact that the spiders got her?! Our heroes prefer to look at a mosaic instead of mourning? Okay... I really like this show so far, but this bit seemed a little unrealistic to me.
I love the story, so far! This is random, but also love the handmade detail of Davrin's leather outfit in the thumbnail. Makes me wonder if he makes his own armor and clothes. Great visual story telling!
EDIT: Genlocks can have throwing knives/swords, most specifically Alpha Genlocks, so I guess they do use weapons. A little nitpick: When Nadia and Drayden were fighting Genlocks.. why did they have axes? Genlocks in DA2 and Inquisition never carried weapons and were basically nasty gorillas. And the darkspawn shown in Veilguard are corrupted by one of the elven gods and that hasn't happened yet... So I'm going to guess this is another oversight by the writers.
@@lordfickle8900 Well who knows ? They are prepping for Blights again though. BioWare already called sickly dragons per archdemons. So perhaps darkspawn normally is not using weapons, unless they are ready for war in name of Archdemon ? Darkspawn in Origins was after all forming an army. Darkspawn in DA II was more just random, they weren't any army at all, and we don't know how intelligent these things are. For all we know darkspawn normally are mindless beasts obsessed with the Song.
I really hope the companions are fully flecth character and not just a romance option. In Dragon Age inquisition Doroan and Cassandra or any ither character only served as a romance option and not tied well in ti the story like Morrigan Alistair and Zevran were in Origin or like Isabella Merrill and Anders was in Dragon Age 2. Drioan fron the Teviter Imerium but didn't givve much on the Imperium or the venetory or even the Imperial Chantry Cassandrq didn't even in quest with the seekers of thruth or the chantry or Navarra.
Do male/female Rooks have different walk/run animations or are we able to choose our movement style? I feel like that is a way many people express themselves.
The more I hear from Dreyden, the more I'm thinking he's somehow connected to Solas. He's so much like him. Maybe he's a young wisdom spirit or a spirit of curiosity - something similar to Cole. The things he says, the way he behaves, it's all so oddly....... like a young Solas? Maybe it's just the Solavellan brainrot xD Also neat to start this episode out with someone yelling "renounce your PRIDE!" directly in our ears xD And. Davrin. "You're cute'. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! The way my brain instantly short-circuited xD
I can't see a spirit of wisdom or curiosity thirsting after someone haha. I think they are coded to be on the autism spectrum, which Cole was as well so I do see where the similarities are apparent
I really don't know what's going on with the writing in these. This is just low quality. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt so bad, but all these absolutely awful jokes and characters constantly pointing out the obvious is not what I've come to expect from Bioware's writing team
I think this has been my favorite episode so far, although each of them has been excellent ! I hope Drayden and Nadia will have a cameo in Veilguard because I got attached to them now ! Thank you for gifting us those amazing stories ! I can’t wait for the next episode !
