Cell Tips & Tricks! All I can say is you are lucky I like you guys cause this is the third time I had to make this video from scratch :( First time turns out all the original recordings had this weird audio issue, then rerecorded then I musta clicked something wrong in the recording process and all the recordings had visual static. Third times a charm though!
It's funny how next level your guides are compared to other peoples, I learn nothing from Max's videos or TGN Anime even though they rack up views like crazy, but when I watch a single video from you there's so much knowledge that I get. Kudos for being as perfect and top tier as Cell.
its because people like Max have a lot of experience in the FGC. I noticed that rooflemonger goes into detail on stuff like positive on block means. its not a bad thing, but its hard for a long time fighting game player to explain something to a new fighting game player.
This video has me rethinking my team comp lol. I was thinking 21 as point, Hit as mid and Cell as anchor since he's super well rounded, but after seeing that he can do with mid-air EX Perfect Attack, I'm seriously considering making him my point and maybe switching Hit for someone else so Cell can get a stronger assist from that. Amazing stuff in this video
Great tips as always, but his psycho crash functions more like a command grab than an unblockable, which means you can just jump to avoid it. Also, having to record this 3 times must've been frustrating to say the least, thanks for uploading this anyway!
Additional tips on Cell. His qcb.H on block will leave you on top of your opponent on the other side even in the corner. So it's a crossup overhead. However it can be anti aired by down.H Rooflemonger mentioned the instant air dash ML double overhead. It also important to note that you can still cancel it to air down medium. Because mixup. and finally, he has loop combo on corner. you guys should look it up if you havent already
Can you please make an updated version of this video ? Cell has changed quite a bit since February (when this video was published) and a lot of his tech/combos have changed with all of the patches....thoughts anyone ???
His double overhead can actually turn into a triple(quadruple?) overhead depending how you do it. With good timing ,you can block-string his J.M. into J.L. into J. Rolling Crush Light or J.Perfect Attack Light. Rolling Crush can hit multiple times, sets up assists to continue the block-string, but doesn't combo well; while perfect attack leaves you really open, but starts a combo automatically if it hits. The same J.M-J.L block-string setup can instead go into his Hell Strike for a crossup overhead, but this is really risky and somewhat react-able, although it can also setup for assists to continue the string really well.
There's something new, with the EX Perfect Aerial Attack in the corner, the game seems to not know which side to put Cell onto, he teleports behind with the ability to do more, but as soon as he hits the ground, he pops out of the corner again. This mixup is so tricky it fucks with ME, and I'm the one doing it!
Great vid, but a few comments regarding a mistake you have in there or just things you might have missed! 1. The yamcha assist into hell attack 'crossup' isnt a real setup, since you get crossup protection against assists, you can block that in either direction (you can try this by recording it in training mode, holding both left and right will block yamcha's assist in that case) 2. The EX version of grounded perfect attack on block gives you a really dangerous mixup situation since you cross up and if you cover yourself with an assist you can safely get a mixup which if they manage to block you can continue pressuring. 3. For recomboing the light version of rolling attack in the air is a much better choice than the EX perfect attack since it costs no meter and because of hitstun scaling your midscreen assist combo will end up doing around the same damage either way, so this route is way more meter friendly and gives you more or less the same damage by the end of your combo 4. For psycho crash in the corner you can combo from it with certain assists too for better damage and meter build than with vanish, also if you are in the corner and dont want to or cant use an assist to convert from it, level 1 super is more worth it than vanish cancelling since you get to keep the corner and actually do more damage than with vanish cancelling into a combo. 5. The IAD j.ml or j.m 2l mixup can be fuzzy guarded, same as most other similar mixups where timing is a bit different on the mid and the low option, so TECHNICALLY speaking its not a 'true coinflip 50/50' if you know the timing to start ducking after an IAD j.m is blocked.
1. the assist protection is only on a few specific frames, you can stagger it in such a way the assist is a true crossup. 2. good to know 3. yes it does, however its not quite as beginner friendly or as a super easy setup as the ex. These guides are always with a bit more of a novice focus in mind. Plus the light doesn't work with near as many assists as the ex does. 4. I am aware. The intent of this style of guide isn't to breakdown every single move with every single assist however. 5. Good luck fuzzying it, is all I can say. The timing is so short you are basically submitting to RNG anyways. Fuzzy is not a reliable defense against it in any real way.
From what I tested in the lab and experienced in matches, assists always get crossup protection and the only way to make them cross up is by literally hitting the enemy with a crossup before your assist starts hitting (so technically its you crossing them up not your assist). I understand that these guides are aimed more towards beginners, for which they are perfect, keep up the good work man! I hope I wasnt coming across as hostile or anything I'm just trying to spread information! :D
Oh I took it that way, sorry if my response came off as confrontational then cause I didn't intend it that way. Happy for the flow of more information always the purpose of this channel is to educate!
Lovely stuff as always. I was kinda wanting to form a team around Cell, seeing as he's so strong in the meta currently, and this video is kinda egging me in that direction more quickly. x3 Also! Besides your combos I "steal" (referring to the twitter beef from that one guy xD ) I'mma steal those spicy terms you used too. "Can Opener" and "Party Starter"? Everything you produce is golden, fam! Thanks for uploading, time to play dragonball.
I don't know if you mentioned this kind of thing in another video, the lvl 3 supers-tag-in. Cell's is actually really good in this regard as it will almost always connect (just like Block Goku's) Do you think you'll make a supers-tag-in video ? As they're pretty character specific sometimes. Otherwise great content dude ! Amazing work !
I always love these tips and tricks videos! Great job as always bro! Would you mind doing a video for Hit sometime soon? I want to play that character so bad, but have no idea what to do with him lol
What does ex mean? Sorry I don't understand most of the terms in this game. I'm just so grateful that you at least use directions instead of numbers. It seems more logical for beginners.
Cell's back+medium normal acts just like a back+light with a lot of other people (allowing the first hit of the light target combo to be repeated one more time) have you noticed this before? I know SSJ Goku and Vegeta can use 5L, 4L, 5L to get two jabs instead of one!
It isn't in the move list because his standing medium isn't a command normal. It's literally just a medium. You hold back purely to prevent the auto combo
I don’t know if it’s because of updates but that M back M Kick is just too unreliable to be effective outside of practice mode ( it’s slow for a single Medium kick) I’m doing the tutorial combos and it’s the last one I need to do but I’m stuck
Its linked in the end of the video end card! Just check the channel if I have a tips video up, I will also have other videos of that character up as the tips video is usually the capper to a character.
Do think think Cell's assist it better than Trunks's? I use them both, but use Trunks as my point. Think I should stick with that or put Cell up front?
How do you instant dash so fluidly? I always find it clunky to mash the stick forward twice and it ends happening about half the speed of what I'm seeing here
i think gohan is better but cell takes the top spot because he has a high teir assist as well as being a top teir on his own while gohan is just top teir on his own
Not sure what you mean by that. If you wanna crossup just dash over the enemies head and go for it. If you mean the crossup with the teleport strike, Just do it and hit assist at the same time/just before/just after depending on the timing you want.
Oh how the game have changed not android 18 huh well I'm from 2020 and here we got A B and C assist and android 18 C assist is great I have a team with cell her and krillin I might change krillin for someone with a stronger level 3
ok ty very much, subbed btw ;), i'm not good in english btw.... also it seem like i can't do the last part of the bnb combo of C-21, i can't connect the last part after pressing X button the special don't connect at all, is there some kind of condition?( i'm trying to do the combo at 0:30 in this video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZCY6FREdgJc.html andd i'm talking about the 0:35 momment)
Ahh, make sure to check the combo notations friend, what you need to do after that double jump is hit light-light attack buttons, not light-medium. Light-light gives you extra height.
He needs a nerf, it is too much powerfull at Mimicks, at close combat and zoning. If is a good Cell, hope you get it with a short dash or first in an air combo. If Not, you are doomed.
