I have been working the creation of the dragon fruit hybrid KXT for 4 years by now. It is time to do a review and summary of the process for people who has not following my channel but want to create their own hybrid, to show them how to make a plan, what technique you can use to boost the process and what the outcome you can hopping for.

I am so glad that you have the patience to research and document all the steps you have done to create a new hybrid dragon fruit. The information that you have posted is excellent and educational for all of us dragon fruit lovers. After 4 dedicated years you have been able to achieve a successful result with the KXT RRR! Your hard work has paid off! Thank you so much for posting this and all of your other videos. Edgar Valdivia

Hi Mr. Valdivia, I am so honored that you take time to watch my video and commenting. I have watched many of your videos and thank you so much for your pioneering work on creating new dragon fruit varieties. I remember you said that Tricia was named after your daughter, so in a way, I think that KXT RR could be considered as your grandchild. Thank you again for your kind words and I am happy you like my work.

I'm a beginner trying to learn as much as I can from videos like yours. I'm so impressed with the amount of knowledge I have received from someone as educated as you. I just hope to grow my first dragon fruit one day. I'm in South Florida. Thank you for your amazing information!

Congratulations on creating a very fine hybrid! This is a fantastic video that answers so many questions about the process. I found your video to be most helpful and educational for a newbie like myself. I hope to tinker with this down the road but for now I have to wait until I have some established rootstock to play. BTW I love the bloom on RW2 too, so pretty.

Thanks for sharing your hybrisation process with very interesting results. I followed your toothpick method but i grafted the DF seedling into a cactus as there are no DF rootstocks available locally where im currently at. Here's hoping it will take. Looking forward to your future update videos too so I just subscribed.

fantastic detail at all levels. but i think my favorite is the beginning motivation behind starting the whole process! :) I'm glad you managed to get something that matched your initial goals! do you know yet if the new clone is also self sterile?
@xiaoli2142
@xiaoli2142 5 месяцев назад
Thank you very much for your comment. I did not do the test to see if the hybrid is self-sterile or not, so I don't know for sure, but because it is a hybrid, most likely it is self-sterile.

Would you sell a cutting of KXT RR? Very interesting, I’ve been following since start. Great job. Might have to back cross, or change parents, like Tricia be mom and Kva be pollen to get new set of genes.

Thank you very much for watching my channel and by commenting. Unfortunately, the plant of KXT RR is still quite small so I don't have anything for sell yet. I am propagating it, so may be next year?

Wonderful research! Did you do cross polination every year to collect new seedlings or they were old seedlings from 1st cross in 2020?
@xiaoli2142
@xiaoli2142 6 месяцев назад
Thank you for your comment. All hybrids showing here are from the very first pollination, so they are all siblings.

Did you happen to keep some seeds of KxT RR?

Have you tried crossing it with Bruni?
@xiaoli2142
@xiaoli2142 2 месяца назад
Bruni has pink flowers, but beside that, it is not as sweet as KVA. It doesn't have any feature I think is worthy for all the work to make hybrids.
@OaxDragonFruit

@@xiaoli2142 true that, we have few hybrids with bruni and I will make more this year.

Does all dragon fruit have 11 pairs of chromosomes? Thanks for sharing the journey and thought process into making hybrids.
@xiaoli2142
@xiaoli2142 6 месяцев назад
I am not sure about the "all", but most of the common dragon fruits have 11 pair of chromosomes, even the yellow ones, they also have 11 chromosomes but they have 4 copies of each chromosome.
