A couple of cool little fountain pens from Jinhao. I was pretty happy with what you get for the money here, even the more expensive and over-the-top model is the same price as a lot of baseline pens from other companies. Hell yes, I paid £2 ($2.65) for an X450, loved it, and then went down the Ebay Chinese pen rabbit hole - buy a couple, wait untold weeks and have a nice surprise for yourself when they turn up and you forgot you ordered them.

Sounds like you have never owned a $300 pen. I have many Jinhao, there's no way they would be mistaken for even a $100 pen.

Its called coloboma it's where a piece of tissue is infact missing from the actual eye, and/or eyelid. Although it could be the lighting.

I love that you're not a professional on fountain pens and you know just enough to give a good review. People like me, never used a fountain pen yet in their lives, but want to get one to start out in calligraphy or drawing with them like you do, but don't know what ones are good to start with. Hey Peter, nice video. I use the Waterman inks a lot and I find when they run low I tip the bottle to one side and sit it on the lower side facet. Really helps when filling those last few dregs of ink.

I checked this video out because I love fountain pens, but I now realize you are all about drawing, which also is a keen interest of mine. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I love your drawing style....a lot. It seems so effortless and non fussy. I think I ought, perhaps, to explore such technique myself... thank you for your imput on the Jinhaos. I personally like that make quite a lot. Ciao.

I give his eyes maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10. I think my own eyes are more beautiful 🤩 His drawings, however, are fantastic, and my own ink drawings cannot come close to his, and this is what matters, I think.

Love the dragon pen! Have you seen the new game of thrones pens they have🙀😍 also I have the red ink and it drives me mad sometimes. Sometimes it'll write dark and other times it'll be less opaque. Idk maybe it's the pen I have it in? Idk. Great drawing!

Oooh! Spinning pen reminds me of a reverse form of Spin-Art! That would be a pretty neat way to make some art, or use the spatters as a jumping off point for a drawing. Oh, do you play Beat Saber with your Vive?

The dragon pen would make an awesome gift for a guy imo. I was surprised the red pen was only $9 ! They're both beautiful pens but I love that deep red with the black alot. I like it so much I'm going to go to the site and see how much the shipping would be. I live far enough north that sometimes shipping costs make an item not worth buying. Hopefully not this time though. I love that you show us so many cool products.

I remember seeing that same exact dragon pen being sold in the French Market in New Orleans about 14 years ago. The only difference was that it had a better contrast between the black and metal parts because it was pretty shiny. I almost bought it, but 26 bucks was more than I had at 16 years old and the pen looked uncomfortable to write with.

I bought the x450, it’s my first fountain pen. I was so stoked to use this thing. However, after using it for only about 5 minutes, it started skipping profusely. Is there anything that i can possibly be doing wrong, or did i just get a dud?

The rattle on 999's brass ring on the cap can be fixed with superglue. I removed the ring on mine then I glued it in place with superglue. Works perfectly. Thanks for the review.

Hear, hear! I've been singing the praises of cheaper pens vs expensive (often European) pens. I believe the the x450 is completely metal, possibly brass. The advantage of the x450/x750 is that they use standard international sizes, so you can replace the nib with a Jovo nib, for instance. I'd like to get the dragon pen for spells, deeds of sale for souls, possibly even RPGs.

4:58 I’ve heard that you shouldn’t stick the converter directly into the ink because it has the potential to corrode the internals of the pen if you leave excess on the outside.

I have the pen with the smooth finish that you showed and the cap falls on mine too. Now I won't attempt to see if it stays thanks for the tip. I also like your drawings very nice, I can't draw worth a lick lol. I do use my fountain pens to write letters to pen friends so a smooth nib is so nice.

I ordered a pen from Jinhao earlier this year and I quite enjoy it. The weight is a big plus for me personally, I like my pens to be at least somewhat heavy

Call me weird, but I prefer using pens without the cap posted. The shorter length of the pen and less weight makes me feel the sensation of having more control over the pen.
