@@pizzatime1901 Yeah- It doesnt have that playful yet serious intro you hear in most DQs. Its definitely more final fantasy esque but its still a banger
DQ IV is my favorite by far its wacky and whimsical. It kinda bounces around with really fun progressions. It just works so well being fun and playful and not overly dramatic.
Lol I must be the only one who loves all these themes from the bottom of my heart. They all carry immense fighting emotion, which Final Fantasy prefers more melodic music and less drama.
KAKAROTTHEABSOULUTECHAD nah there where some nes games with great music, mega man, castlevania, Zelda- tons of other games, but I honestly think dq 1 battle theme just isn’t that good....
III was where everything start. You can feel the balance of Surprise, Confrontation, Suspension, Physical attack and Spell casting sound effect was part of the theme sadly it's too short . IV is a polishing version of 3 . Anyone can feel the unpredictable out come of the fight through those fading in and out and when you think everything is under control they start rolling it again. Good part is you can't really feel the loop. V was when they perfect it with really nice transition phase. ( sound much like FF now hehe)
the intro for DQ11 is really good, the rest of the song just doesn't have it no more though/ not aggressive enough RIP Mr. Sugiyama you are missed/ i guess the reason the tRack loses punch after the intRo is because he didn't have much time left seaRch -KisseL CrooneR-
I heard a lot of people didn't liked XI music, but for the battle theme, it's my favorite ! I only played VIII and IX but Wi definetly is great to me. Then VIII, and IX. :)
I’d like to make a quick statement regarding the orchestrated soundtracks for DQ7 and DQ8. For those who live in America, the orchestrated soundtracks are NOT supported in the NA release of DQ8, however it has a brand new midi sound track as the PS2 release. As for DQ7 I believe this is also true but I am not too sure as I don’t own the game. It was a bummer for me when I learned the hard way. Please look into these before purchasing or modding the games!
@@Shoe3003 In the Japanese version of DQ8 for the 3DS there is an Orchestrated soundtrack, but in the North American version of DQ8 on the 3DS there is no orchestrated soundtrack, but instead a brand new midi soundtrack similar to the one used in Super Smash Bros Ultimate for the Hero DLC.
@Green Mamba Games Hmm, weird cuz 5 doesn't sound all over the place to me. If anything, 2, 6, and even the end of 4 on the NES has a bit of off putting moments, but not 5. I wouldn't say I'm nearly as involved in musical composition as you, since based on your wording, it seems you've been taking composition classes throughout college, but I myself have taken four composition classes in high school and one in college so far, but hey maybe I just don't know anything, and I'm not arguing what you're saying. Just that I didn't notice it.
@Green Mamba Games youre right DQ5 battLe theme isn't very good (symphonic Boss BattLe definiteLy amazing intro with lots of surreaL concert haLL echo acoustics) check out the ps1 synth version of DQ4 regular battLe and boss battLe they are really impressive
Damn... V is the first time any of these have real "battle" energy at all... That said, I actually started to groove to III's by the end of it, so it isn't like it was bad before 5... Just not very intense feeling.
I gotta disagree with your opinion on III, I think it had enough of a rhythmic edge to finally feel exciting for a battle (albeit pretty short). Other than that, I agree that V's battle theme is definitely the first great and exciting one
III would probably be my favorite if VIII and V didn’t have such bangers ( that and III is my ringtone so I’m somewhere between joy and eternal suffering when I hear it XD )
Actually, the first one is the Japanese PS2 version and the second one is the Japanese 3DS version. The original Japanese PS2 version had a sequenced soundtrack. The US localization updated it with an orchestral version of the score. Sugiyama appeared to regret this choice, since when DQVIII got ported to the 3DS, he redid the orchestral arrangements for the Japanese version, while the overseas versions got a new synth-based soundtrack based on the orchestral arrangements, presumably made out of spite. Because of this, the game has four different versions of its soundtrack.
@@DeskoDev yeah you'd be correct, if I had listened a little more closely to the 3ds version on here I should have picked up on that. I'm so used to listening to the 10 disc set (I'm not even sure what it's called at the top of my head and I can't read Japanese lol) of the fully orchestrated tracks of virtually all of the main themes from DQ1 through DQ9, that my brain automatically assumed it was the track from the ps2 english version of dq8 that I have played numerous times. Awesome music nonetheless! love it! ❤️

My god the original Japanese PS2 DQ8 battle theme is unlistenably bad, and sadly the orchestrated version in the American release is terribly recorded which makes it not much better. The American 3DS version has a new MIDI soundtrack which, while still not great, I'd say is better than both, at least for the battle theme. Also, they weren't included in this video but the PS1 release of DQ4 and the PS2 release of DQ5 have probably the best sounding music in the whole franchise.
@@knightmarin Except Dragon Quest VII 3DS version. The drum base it's gone and feels more like Dragon Quest VIII beat then Dragon Quest VII beat. OG Dragon Quest VII on PSX/PS1 beat is way better. Ugh it feels like it's mocked from that change back when the Dragon Quest VIII got released and everyone had to learn the new translation transition. Oh the memories were a pain though it was good till Dragon Quest VII on 3DS happened and it felt like a mockery release then a DE release. It will never be, unless Scope and why not.
Yeah, why didn't the video include two versions like 7, 8, 10 and 11? 1, 2, and 3 have Super Famicom versions, and 4, 5, and 6 have DS versions. Should've included those.
