I played tirelessly to make sure you get the best review possible. The game won’t allow for 30 second capture natively, so I ended up capturing many hours of footage on my Mac. Hope it helps

I love the idea of having monsters with specific abilities that help traversal in theory, but it tends to interfere with my very complicated team selection method (aka based on cuteness xD). All jokes aside, this looks like a nice game I didn't have on my radar at all! I really wish there was a demo though.

Monsters in DQ tend to be more on the "cute" side of things. Though the only true way to play would just be a team full of Healslimes (if they're even in this game).

I do strongly agree on the no demo part because it certainly *looks* like a good game, but that 60 dollar price tag is a bit steep. At least it has a $5 deluxe upgrade tho

I pre-ordered Treasures a couple of weeks ago at a small discount. Excited to play it. It reminds me a lot of Pokémon Arceus. Also, improving home bases has always been a feature I enjoy. Furthermore, Toriyama, hunting for treasures and pirates are a match made in heaven.

I was never into turn based battles either but I got into Dragon Quest XI and it's the best game I have ever played.. the fighting isn't that hard cause you level up pretty quick and if youre under level there's monsters that give you a lot of XP

This sounds genuinely like a blast and I've always had a soft spot for the Dragon Quest formula and artistic direction (because of Akira Toriyama) like I imagine a lot of people do, but the gameplay loop sounds akin to Monster Hunter and Pokemon a little, plus other actiony JRPGs

Yeah this one came out of the left field for me, and that’s considering that I live in Japan of all places. We had promotional campaigns in convenience stores not too long ago for the Stars mobile game and collab with Coke on Walker then suddenly this appeared. TVCMs, convenience store stamp promotion and goods and what not popped out of nowhere leading up to the week of the games release.

As a long time dragon quest fan the spin offs have always been a hit or miss for me like I loved dragon quest heroes but I hated builders (I know everyone and their mother loves builders 2 but I'm not really into it) however this seems like it's more up my alley now if only square would release the DQ monsters games that never left Japan looking at you joker 3 and Terry's wonderland

I loved dqb2 and dq11s but was still kind of on the fence about this one bc of the price (I splurged a bit for the Black Friday sale lol 😅). Dang this actually seems cooler than I thought! Just wish there was a demo. Might need to get it used from Gamestop. I just wish they had updated the sound effects and visuals a bit, and music even. I understand it’s the franchise, but it reminds me TOO much of Builders 2. It was a cool game but I want to move on and it’s a bit jarring. I wanted a new more modern vibe.

This looks like a windwaker version of DQ, and looks worth a shot to me! I hope the mainline DQ games stick to turn-based combat, there are still tons of unexplored mechanics, animations, and combinations to try, and not many are going that route anymore. I'd love a DQ take on a combination of xenogears combat with chrono trigger's team-up moves, for example.

I wasn’t aware there was any large desire among fans for a 3rd builders game. I enjoyed them, but they’re not something I’m aching for more of. Honestly, after the first two I’m not sure what all could be done to expand upon them. What I personally want more than anything is to finally get a full remake of DQIX on the Switch. It’s such a shame that it’s only ever been on the DS and just the thought of what it could be on modern systems gets me so excited. I’ve been holding out hope for it for years, and I don’t think I’m gonna stop hoping any time soon. I mean, it’s literally the only main line game in the series to never be ported/remade/remastered onto any other platform. Surely they’re not just gonna leave it behind.

Having a Erik as the main character feels a little tacked on. it would've been nicer if we got a new character, It would've made sense if he was some type of monster tamer in 11 but he's always been a Thief/rogue. I'm hoping the rumored new DQ Monsters spinoff wasn't turned into this and is still being developed since DQM is such an underrated monster catching game in the west

Nope when you beat a monster in the field it has a chance to go into your recruitment pool, that's as in depth as it gets. Also to the best of my knowledge their in family field skills are the same too (a golem won't throw you higher than a slime for example)

This is actually my first dragon quest game and I don't mind spin offs I lost interest in pokemon for a very long time and came back with pokemon legends arceus which is a spin off type game too and I liked it
