its even better this time around as they talk to each other and have unique skills they all can learn like knowing the elven language which allows them to be a translator for you when your talking to the elves.... i wonder what other unique skills the pawns can learn... they can supposedly only have one of these unique skills so it will be interesting to see what other unique skills/traits they can have.
I really hope they add more randomization to the overworld encounters, the gameplay is so strong that as long as you never know what combo of enemies you run into next it could have infinite replayability
With problem with randomization in a Dragon's Dogma game is that having that defeats the whole point of the Pawn Knowledge systems. Unless they used AI voice acting to dynamically generate the voiced lines giving tips to the Arisen about what to expect in an area or quest or what the weaknesses of an enemy are, then it's just not feasible to have those aspects be randomized. Maybe once AI voice acting has become normalized and the quality is slightly better.
@@ex0stasis72 The pawns can just provide information on the thing you're currently fighting, no need for AI. Randomization doesn't need to be extreme, just enough so that you're not fighting the same 3 wolves on the exact same patch of dirt every time you leave a village, like in DD:DA.
what do you mean? after all, it looks like an ordinary european middle ages without elements of japanese culture in terms of visual. I'm interested in your thoughts.
The world is european yes. The graphical style and technical side looks very japanese. Gameplay design, art-style and graphic implementation. He's not talking about the art-style.@@oaommm8
@@oaommm8 Im thinking youre confused. Theres a difference between style and setting. Compare how it looks to other japanese made games and western AAA games and youll notice.
So insanely hyped for DD2! Since it’s being released in March was this the next biggest title Capcom was hinting at? I mean they wouldn’t release a new MH game and DD2 in the same 3 month period right? Also I feel like not enough people are talking about the potential of DD2 and MH6 collab.
What he meant is that out of all their licenses mosnter hunter and dragon's dogma have some similarities and it would be weird to launch two games that will concurrence each other.@@ilgiallo0
I vaguely remember a franchise called Toukiden Kiwami, and I remember it being a MH colab game with maybe DD, maybe it is Toukiden Kiwami 3? Not sure but maybe you should give it a check
Now having played 50+ hours in Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen, I am absolutely off-the-charts hyped about this game. Seriously. Capcom games are all over my radar for the next two years. Monster Hunter and Dragons Dogma. I honestly would love if they added some form of co-op to DD, but either way it's going to be such an epic experience.
DDDA is infinitely playable. It doesnt end, and I love it! My only complaints were the single save file, and the Ur Dragon becoming too powerful. Oh, and I hated the way you had to play cerrain classes, for specific amount of levels, in order to get the proper stat allocations
We have only see two of the new mid/hybrid vocations and they cool as hell. The animations are on another level. The trickster be swinging that sensor like nobody’s watching.
I am so very interested in seeing how a arisen exclusive supporter is going to work! I got high hopes, but might also very easily be the worst thing ever 😅
Honestly, despite the fact that everything you said about the game was VERY impressive...i'm actually not surprised by it, DD is just so great that i expect nothing less than excellence from it
Yup, this is all insane innovation and iteration but for a game being worked on with this much passion and its predecessor title I expected all this and more that I'm sure we'll be getting. Speaks volumes over how much this game means to it's fans.
Dragons dogma 2 will be the top game of 2024. Not by popularity probably, but by playability, graphics, story, lore, and combat mechanics it will be. Just like the Dark arisen this is looking astounding. Just hope people will give it the much deserving chance because I know this will not be a disappointment.
I was so happy to see in the demo reel footage that you can just stand on monsters if you get on top of them. It's like a huge buff to Warrior and just what he needed. So funny and badass standing on top of a Drake charging up a massive attack to split its skull
Kinda disappointed to hear they streamlined the pawn review system. I always enjoyed opting for trying to make my pawn more useful or attractive than powerful. A shame to hear it’s now more like Netflix or RU-vid’s “like or or dislike it” approach instead of breaking it down.
The impact sounds signifying status such as Knockdown, Stagger, etc., was a technique that saw a lot of use during Dragon's Dogma Online. I still have that silly brass gong sound burned into my mind, glad it's different here.
I wanted to highlight this as I thought it was cool - at 13:15 or so you mention the cyclops retrieve its club as it wasn't originally equpped with it - but in the live gameplay stream, what you see happen is the cyclops actually opens the battle up by THROWING that huge club at the party and it went flying over to where he then goes to grab it. It was a cool moment, I thought.
Fingers crossed we have a lot more variance in enemies. I think my biggest qualm with DDDA is we didn't get a whole lot of different enemies until after you saw "Credits".
thanks for the preview, i am so hyped for Dragon's dogma 2, i love the first game it's like my top 3 game of all time, just looking at this i'm going to sink a lot of hours into this game to 100%
hearing that nights will continue to be very dark makes me so happy. its something most games just dont do that adds so much tension and challenge and its one thing i always wished to see in a game like Elden Ring
that stagger noise from the archer attack sounds very similar to a mechanic that they had in DDO, where after a certain threshold was reached, you'd be able to knock an enemy down and they'd take bonus damage.
I am happy that we can ride griffons and drakes, the first map was big and traveling it was a pain sometime and this one will probably have an even bigger map.
I hope they increase the map size, i felt like Dragons Dogma was relatively tiny when compared to other RPG's. I wish we got like multiple different towns with their own atmosphere, maybe some snowy mountains or castles etc. Probably not gonna happen, but i'm still hoping.
3:00 explosive arrows work differently now and certain skills will allow you to equip certain arrow types, which would of been the reason you couldn't equip the arrows
I love the thief class in every game!! Something about being agile and slashing and stabbing enemies feels so good!! This the type of fighting I would love to see in a mmo. More skill base combos when to use them when to avoid mechanics unleashing combos!! Where you can actually see a big difference between skill of players in same class!
never played the first game but this looks amazing and i hope it'll be the 2024 version of Baldurs Gate 3. only gripe is that the subtitles seem needlessly large
I wonder if the magical pawns are able to cast the lower versions of spells after learning the upgraded versions. For context, it's better to not upgrade many of the sorcerer pawns spells in the first game because they take much longer to cast for not all that much more damage. Would be great to not have to worry about that this time around.
You can cut the time of your main pawns casting time in two ways, and support pawns with one of these methods. One is through an augment (main pawn only), and the other is by making sure any magic user has a duke's ring in their inventory (the one you have to take back from Salomet). Just give the Duke a forgery and keep the real ring. Do this over 4 playthroughs and you will have enough rings for every character if you ever do an all magic user run.
Fine work at the showcase, you were clearly the most competent there in terms of game knowledge.... which I guess is why you were there, as the expert lol. But you came across really well if that was something you were concerned about... ..the rest of it that wasn't the gameplay and date.... didnt come across well and was a waste of time. Oh well. The gameplay was amazing, it looks 20x better than the first, and I loved the first. They have surpassed what I wanted and hoped for at this point.
I loved watching your demo during the preview as it really made it seem obvious that the game was HD Dragon's Dogma which is something I cannot complain about at all
Skyrim has "Fireballs" and "Ice Spikes" as well. And it also lets you build Paladin/Cleric type of melee warrior with healing. Maybe the spear class from DD2 will be able to have something like this.
Looks amazing and I can’t wait to play it but I’m a little worried about your comments on equipment weight. That was one of my major gripes from DD1. Constantly having to move stuff around in inventory screens from carrying too much weight was a pain. Also something I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere is healing items. Is there a quick use button this time? In DD1 you had to open your menu to heal or use a potion which was kind of cumbersome.
You made the game look so much better. And even with the usual reviews playing it was already looking pretty good. Seeing someone familiar with the breadth of mechanics going at it is quite a treat! Do you think there will be high enough difficulty levels to give people like you some challenge, or that the game will be too easy?
I think one of the most exciting things about this sequel is that we can now have dedicated ranged pawns. Given how certain enemies were tricky to deal with without a ranged option like metal golems
The camping kit is EXACTLY what the game needed. DD has a core issue of having to spend too much time and space between being able to shift skill loadouts because you can only do it in a very small number of locations. But having a lot of skills with only a very limited number of slots means a lot of those skills go unused and experimentation is discouraged. Also, it's good that Strider was broken up because it frankly was pretty broken for a base class.
I have to agree with Strider being seperate. I also played it on the PS3 and it's crazy how OP it is. Every tier list I've seen Strider was always #1 or #2. Separating them also makes new vocation combos more possible.
I really hope they have a dedicated lantern input, having to go into the menu every time the lantern went out in the first game was so fucking annoying.
This is the fantasy game I have been waiting for. What Asmongold said was spot on; this game seems to have captured what makes the Fellowship of the Ring so amazing.
Only concern I have so far is the enemy variety. They haven't shown anything new yet and I really will be a bit disappointed if I end up just fighting the same enemies from the og most of the time. Cyclops. Goblins. Griffin. A big ass dragon. Give me more variety
Agreed. I love the original monsters but I would love to see some more variety especailly considering mythology offers no lack of ideas. We do still have potential for DLC though, so maybe we'll get something like bitterblack again with a fuckton of new enemies
so to use itens like the bombs , do u still have to pause the game , chose the bomb , throw it , pause the game again chose another bomb , throw it again.... ?
Is Mystic Knight no longer in the game? I'm a sucker for Paladin classes, though it was definitely OP-- it was so much fun to play. By the looks of it theyre replacing it with Mystic Spearhand but I still havent seen any confirmations on it
I hope this time we will be able to build fully viable magic users, that center around 1 specific element. I would love to play a magic archer, or the new double blade vocation centering around the dark element. And the stat points must be distributed freely when leveling up. I also hope we have more gear with unique abilitys like in Dark Arisen. Also loot should be less randomized (especially epic gear) and the overall world (worldbuilding, quests etc.) must make a biiig step forward
Hey @superRADLemon, so seeing that you were at the Capcom Post-Show for Dragons Dogma 2, can we ask how the performance was? It appeared that you were playing on a PS5, but the frame rate looked 30 at best.
Is it weird that it oddly reminds me of Monster Hunter 3? The outside landscapes at the start of the first game reminds me so much of the deserted island.
Great video! I was wondering if there's information about the graphical modes on the console. The video looks 30 FPS, will there in fact be a 30 FPS Quality and 60 FPS Performance modes?
@@ImGonnaFudgeThatFish the recommended steam specs for 30 fps at 4k are more or less the same as current Gen tho. The showcase also seemed to be higher than 30 fps. So I think it's still possible for a performance mode to be there with lower settings. Guess we just need to wait and see something official.
Im still not optimistic because looks like that they included and improved everything except the armors slots, there no sure if the armors pieces are all separated because in the latest demo the torso and gloves was like fused as the pants and feets, this could be weird if its not like the first game since you was able to customize your character like you wanted...
Looks amazing, but I'm not really on vibe with the Strider vocation being separated into one exclusively for range (Archer) and another for melee (Thief). The fact that the Strider allowed both weapons is what made it fun, you where taking pot-shots when encountering/ambushing enemies and when they got close and personal you went Devil May Cry on their ass. Dunno how is gonna pay out specifically for Archers since IMO while the bowplay is solid is not nearly as fun or flashy as the dagger melee gameplay, because of that my guess is that the majority of Strider mains from DD1 are going to go Thief. Hoping there's a hybrid vocation that mixes them back together.
Did you notice anything about how stats increase? Is it the same as the OG where it depends on the vocation at the time? Min-Maxing was a bit of a chore in the last game having to stay the same class for a few dozen levels. It got a bit better in later levels as you could just play as you want until you were close to leveling up then teleport back to the Inn to change, but again that was quite an annoyance regardless. Really cannot wait for this game. Been wanting new Dogma for so dang long! The journey to Seneschal!
I don't hear a lot of people talk about the removal of secondary weapons, but it feels like a downgrade to me. I know the online DD was like that too, but having daggers or a bow as a secondary gave classes a lot more flexibility. if this was an MMORPG I'd understand it as them wanting people to cooperate, but I don't know if pawns can be equated to playing with other real players. In single player games you'd rather give players more options rather than less.
The only L i found in what they revealed up until now is that there is no Strider no more. Like, c'mon people, the Strider/Ranger/Mage Archer/ Assassin were the DOPEST classes of the og game.
I know they recommend the game be played with controller, but will we be able to edit keybinds for mouse and keyboard? I sincerely enjoyed the game, having just played it this past year, and that was the only real qualm I had with it
A game being nearly identical to the first is not a bad thing either. Sometimes that's all people want and need. Games get too convoluted or simple trying to shake things up by adding or taking away too many things. See Dragon Age Origins to Dragon Age 2 to Dragon Age Inquisition. That whole series went through through an identity crises with every release.
What I want to see the most is how this game ties into the ending of Dragons Dogma 1. How does the God of the Everfall being absent entirely unfold? How is a Dragon born with no Seneschal to guide an unfit Arisen into that body?
@@SuperRADLemon Yes, I am aware of this but given what I remember of the Everfall, it is supposed to be a gateway connecting dimensions, at least to some degree. I want to know if that property will connect the two games at all, and if the consequences of the first games ending affect all realities (by depriving all of them of a God) or only the Gransys of the original game
