good to note for newbs is that striders get a huge bonus to damage (roughly 66%) against certain large monsters when they attack while grappled to them, making hundred kisses even more broken
They also use less stamina to climb, and climb faster, than any other vocation. If your playstyle involves a lot of hanging from ogre nipples Strider is one of the very best options for that.
Excellent video on probably the best vocation in the game. All of my praise from the previous video definitely carries over with the nice, quick, pacing layered with tasteful jokes and honest commentary. Your passion for the game really comes through. To add to the video, however, there are a few things I didn’t see mentioned. 1. Strider gets a damage boost while climbing. So while both a strider and assassin can use hundred kisses while humping a cyclops’ face, the strider will cause more damage assuming equal strength. 2. Dazzle blast can apply debilitations from your weapon rather effectively. This is most useful with upgraded rusted daggers for torpor and golden daggers for silence. Though you can also use upgraded anneled daggers for blind. 3. Mighty bend actually has a timing to it, if you release right when the skill finishes charging and your character flashes white, you do extra damage and more knockdown. Thanks again for the excellent video Thiefy, you’re helping keep the fandom alive. Looking forward to the next.
Oh CRAP you're absolutely right, I somehow entirely spaced on the climbing damage boost that's a MASSIVE detail, I'm glad it's at least mentioned here in some form now! And damn I actually never knew that detail about Mighty Bend, that's amazing! Thank you very much for contributing and helping out! And thank you dearly for the high praise, it means a lot and I'll keep doing my best going forward!
The benefit of being a Strider, imo, other than just feeling awesome to play, is that a strider is good in literally any situation, the Strider always has an answer.
@@ThiefofCrystals It'd be nice to see a sequel finally announced, DD always had a very strong, dedicated and wholesome fanbase, so it's a good treat to celebrate with fellow Arisen'. I'll also look forward to your guides my dude :)
First off, I'm sorry that this video took so long, I ran into some health issues that prevented me from properly working on it for a while. Additionally, I apologize if the video's a bit of a mess, I had a pretty rough time with footage this time around. Sometimes I had too much for one particular thing, and not enough for another - it just wasn't a very smooth process. Ontop of that I wanted to get the video out there for people already, and get back on the horse so to speak, so I feel it might be lacking the finishing touches I usually put on my videos. That said I still worked really hard on it and the core of the video is all there still, so I'm hoping everyone enjoys it regardless and more importantly, finds it helpful! I may give myself a small break to work on a simpler video between this and mage purely because these guides tend to be pretty hefty to put together, but I have every intention of doubling down on videos from here on.
@@Tepidtamales Oh that's so cool! I sincerely hope you enjoy yourself, it's a fantastic game in my opinion! And thank you for the concern, I'm hanging in there at the moment and should be fully recovered in the coming months!
With a vocation geared toward climbing and aerial attacks i wished the game let you equip only one weapon and use six related skills. Dagger only builds would be fantastic and allow to carry things like Leaping Stone and Instant reset without sacrificing offensive skills
Ho gets my drift But considering that you can equip and unequip skills on some classes means you could carry a full arrow, staff and dagger moveset by being in the right class Sorcerer is this though 💀
I started with strider they definitely the best starter class because they get a kit for most enemies. But in the end strider/assassin fell pretty low in terms of favorite class once I learned to play other class properly. Now my fav class are: Magic Archer Sorcerer Ranger In that order I'm mostly solo play and like to gimmick my way through enemy.
Dazzle Blast has surprising utility when paired with a dagger that has debilitating statuses on it. Being able to silence casters from a distance can be a boon in the right situation. But other than specific cases, it is reasonable to not want to use dazzle blast.
Ok I just started this game and thought it looked so so...Wait, im going to slide into combat like james brown with daggers and launch arrows like artillery?! I'm in, cheers me dears
Should be mentioned that Master The if can potentially make any money problems you would ever have dissapear. The Condemed Gorecyclops in BBI can be stolen from infinitely with saving and reloading tricks to get high value items.
Strider is so much fun. Im doing my first playthrough rn and im now feeling bad because i dont really know if i want to switch classes. I know i should try the others, because they all feel cool (played a bit of fighter to unlock sinew and even that was a blast), and that the magic system is cool but like. Idk, i am already in love with this roguish fella, switching ranges in an instant, climbing and spamming skull splitter. Now i dont know what to do, if i should stay or if i can get myself to try the others
Picture this: Magick archer, Frame blades or whatever, Flameshroud, thousand kisses and holding right on to that cursed dragons heart... NOW THATS AALOT OF DAMAGE!!!!!!
Damn just found this channel looking up guides and there's only two episodes. You got a sub from me. One critcism: mind just displaying the name of the skill on screen when talking about it? I'm hard of hearing.
Consider it done! I was actually debating doing something like that already but if it helps people I'm more than happy to do that. Just remembered I forgot to list this video's chapters so I'll get on that too! I'm really glad you liked this and I'm hard at work on the next guides! Wanna do my best to get them out there for the new players.
F--king awesome and entertaining video Bro! Epic commentary! You are my kinda idiot! (in a good way) Like and Sub. Also at 9:34 your video got photo bombed by a random npc LMAO!
Which skill has the highest stagger to interrupt Silver Knights in hardmode? I have two +30 stagger preceptor rings and the eliminators armor piece that increases stagger and I still cant interrupt the silver knights healing/rezzing spell. Great video for beginners btw. Good memery too.
'Ey thanks a lot, I do my best to make it as easy to digest as possible for anyone wanting to learn. So if you're looking purely to stagger I might actually suggest Implicate, but that's dependant upon the stagger stat of your weapon - the buffs will still help but if the base number is low you'll get less bang for your buck. Failing that, I'd maaaaybe suggest Dazzle Blast or Shriek Dart, but actually your best bet might just be Mighty Bend come to think of it. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
Full/Mighty/Terrible Bend is also good for punching above your weight class or cheesing early BBI Rotunda of Dread due to defense break and knockback/knockdown. A Strider or Ranger can cheese goblins, wolves, harpies (if feeling froggy) and cyclops there - eventually working their way up to Golems for some very rapid early game XP gain and item farming. Probably won't be able to take out the rest of the encounters without taking the time to gear up, but you can loot the rest of BBI available on repeat and hit up Barroch as needed. Somewhere around level 20 it really starts to pick up speed.
Lmao, play whatever your heart desires my friend! It's just my duty to provide what info I can for every vocation, hard at work on Magick Archer right now in fact!
That's a promise! I'll take some time to just enjoy the sequel, and soak in as much as I can, then I'll start rolling out Dragon's Dogma 2 guides as soon as I can!
I use Skull Splitter, Leaping Stone, and Instant Reset. My pawn as Strider uses no dagger skills, because its not smart enough to use any of them properly, especially the ones I'm using. My bow skills are Fivefold Flurry, Pentad Shot, and Downpour Volley. My pawn will only use FfF and PS since it will otherwise end up abusing DpV, and other skills arent useful enough to matter. (In fact, I use a fully upgraded Rusted Bow on my pawn for constant Torpor on enemies, and no Daggers at all)
Instant reset looks dumb man, but pretty useful. Should just add a orange glow on activation or something, just to let us know that we actually cast it🤣
I find the image of my pawn grappling an enemy, and then I just run up. Instead of finishing them, I start running their pockets with master theif absolutely comical
Strider youll never be bored because its even growths let you use enchanted weapons on any class with minial penalty once you hit level 200 and has pretty high stamina gains, i saw online youre only losing like marginal amount of damage this way over min maxing strength or magic. Strider is the best beginner class in my opinion.
Finally committing to a playthrough of this game on my new steam deck - previously I only made it to the first cyclops outside the encampment and was thrown off by the controls on kb&m. Really appreciate these videos! I've always been told I'd love this game and I'm starting to appreciate it more.
Thank you so much! That means a lot - expect to see vocation guides from me when Dragon's Dogma 2 arrives! Hopefully that might give my channel a boost lol
@@ThiefofCrystals looking forward to it cuz I just started playing and I'm at around level 36. Started out as a strider then assassin, ik there were better routes but I just went with it. Right now I just wanna do as much damage as possible to defeat a dragon I can't remember the name of. Its red n located in a forest filled with hob goblins
Spoilers: I don't lmao I actually have very, very bad magical stats since I mostly levelled Assassin. That said, you could definitely do so by simply swapping between classes every few levels, though you'd likely wanna pay attention to the points at which you do so since earlier levels can contribute more than later ones, I may explain this in a later video some time. Thank you kindly! I'm really glad you enjoy them!
I don't have 3 Striders with only Brain Splitter and Hailstorm Volley as their skills for nothing. They are absolute monsters capable of dealing massive Physical damage super quickly while I am the Sorcerer covering elemental weaknesses and dealing massive Magical damage.
