People diss the clutch claw but the moveset extensions are incredible. Hammer getting the screw attack you can do after a combo is always satisfying. The Lance clutch counter, SnS Uppercut, Insect Glaive falling grab, it's just so cool.

HELL YEAH!!! I giving monster hunter world another shot because of your last vid and streams about it. Just made my character last night when i bought the game on pc during the summer sale.

Fun fact if you press start when the animation plays after beating a monster you can getnout of the fixed camera placement. This allows you to get a few extra seconds to carve and then pick up items. This works because the camera is locked in place even when the monster is carvable.

This is a fair criticism honestly Rng grinds are not for everyone in fact I burned myself out of BBI in DD for like 3 years to where I almost hated the game because it was pretty bad trying to get certain things. This is more or less the gameplay loop however with MH I never particularly cared for anything other than just fighting the monsters so getting the good items was just a bonus. It’s a really great series Solo but even more so with friends I feel. Still I’m glad you’re giving it a shot at least since I know you are quite particular with action RPG’s!

Honestly, I'm kind of shocked they haven't put Grigori into Monster Hunter as an event or something. He wouldn't look out of place and his fire breath and magic attacks should ensure he stacks up with the tougher dragons. Would be cool if a Monster Hunter dragon showed up as a dlc boss fight for DD2 as well. It could be in the unmoored world, played off as some special form of brine dragon.

Funny that you hate Diablos while as a Lance main, Diablos is the best to do guard counter against it. It's so satisfying to do.

For the love of all that is holy, please eat before quests. Your health and stamina need it. More stamina = more bonks. Or use a max potion in the beginning of a quest.

Great that you are giving this game a chance and awesome that you enjoy your time with it. Your criticism is fair. I personally like the grind but it isn't for everybody. What makes these games still worth trying out is the amount of love that is put into them. From all the little unnecessary animations to the in dept ecology of the monsters.

As a hammer main too the earplugs armor perk is S tier for me, if you would want to try. Also sick hammer gameplay smile

MHW is one of my fave games i have almost 1000hrs in the game. Switch Axe, Great Sword and Insect Glaive are my go to weapons. i do recommend eating before hunts though, gives you more health and stamina. and the game is def funner with friends, my friend and i have have gotten many laughs out of the game.

Cant wait for your Iceborn vid 🥰 Monsters there can be much more demanding. As Insect Glave main i remember having problems with Barioth and Nargacuga (white and black kitties) but many hunters get blocked by Tigrex and Velkhana (flagship), not mentioning post end-game with crazy monke, buff subspecies and 2 last black dragons Alatreon and Fatalis. Also you pointed out that this game is about grind... Well, yes and no. Game is about getting good at fighting monsters, grind happens sort of naturally and gives additional reasons to revisit certain monsters. Unlike Skyrim, Witcher or DDogma MonHun doesnt have much story to tell you, its 95% a GitGud game (some players literally beat game armorless or otherwise handicapped becouse gear isnt half as important as players skills in this game)

World has the investigation system that has extra rewards to make grinding rare materials pretty easy. Gold slots have a decent chance for the rarest materials so you really want to do those when grinding for equipment. But note that for some materials the silver might be better as they have different pools. The gameplay loop is mostly just grinding so I can see why most people don't really care about to play this game more than beating the story. I hope you enjoy iceborne even more.

High Rank isnt really the difficulty spike for action combat veterans. Master Rank Endgame tempered stuff in the expansion...thats when it gets kinda hard and feels like a Dark Douls game, regardless of your build or how good you are.

before you jump into iceborne there's a handful of post-release monsters like deviljho to chew thru which I highly recommend - I also also extremely recommend trying charge blade, iirc you didn't like sns but charge blade is its weird cousin that turns into an axe and explodes (and to me feels much more sword n board about it). GL with iceborne that shit is *actually* a massive difficulty spike, especially with hammer where you don't have any easy access to or guard defenses. I recommend building a set with evasion as soon as possible if you're sticking to hammer. Also, invest in weakness exploit and crit boost ASAP! most important damage skills!

Just made me think of it when you mentioned these dragons being dogmaless. The dragon’s dogma is actually a core plot point in dragons dogma online. The revival is still a work in progress but are you interested in trying it in the future when it’s closer to finished?

I really don't care about the loot, I just like hunting the monsters, in fact, it's almost unfair the amount of materials I have, I was checking my guild card a few days ago and I have about 3000 hunts, around 2000 with charge blade, and the rest between Long Sword, Bow and Heavy bowgun. I have hunted more than 100 fatalis, ruiner nergi, brute tigrex, raging brachy. I even have a 2:44 Arena Silverlos hunt with savage axe style, which is not my favorite style. She should try other weapons, Hammer is good, but the other 13 are very good too, and is a brand new game every time you learn a new weapon, I remember the first time I stopped a monster in it's tracks with a guard point, and punished it with an SAED, it was really satisfying. I think that's what the game is about.

No idea if you ever tried it, but the great sword is pretty fun because you can headbutt through most attacks

juat as a tip for hammer when you're near a ledge you should be spamming the charged mounting attack its very easy when you get the rhythm down and it deals a ton of dps

Chonk Lord has become Bonk Lord, he will be ecstatic to find out he can change out his chicken bone hammer to an actual drumstick hammer from a master rank event quest. Seriously you keep saying you're a new MH player, that was some solid pro Unga Bunga and a legit armor combo to take advantage of it. Even as a Swag Axe main perpetually stun locking a monster with hammer feels awesome and when a weapon clicks with your personal play style it really clicks.

This is more like the Iceborne version of World. Base World didn't have the Clutch Claw. So all that maneuvering and tenderizing isn't something that you could do in Monster Hunter World originally. This is an easier version of World.

As a Charge Blade main, Diablos is one of my favorite monsters to absolutely bully the shit out of. Guard counters come so easily in that fight, it's marvelous.

Surprised you’re going through with Iceborne after acknowledging that the game isn’t for you, but it’s great that you’re willing to see this game to its end! Hoping your opinion of the game will improve somewhat, MH is very much a “trust the process” experience

World is the first MH game that I got into as well, but I'm with you on the RNG grinding, not a fan. Core gameplay is solid enough, so once I had a build I was happy with, I just enjoyed the fights and then didn't need to stress about the drops

Yeah, I feel you about the RNG grind thing. I love Monster Hunter, but as a franchise it historically has the worst endgames of any series I've ever played. I don't mind grinding a monster for parts to craft weapons and armor, that level of grind I am fine with. But the endgame grind where you're mindlessly hoping for good RNG on completely random decorations, charms, or bonus skill slots on gear? It is hell and a poison to me. So usually my relationship with the series is to play until I hit credits, do the post-story extra quests until I've hunted every monster, and then hunt for new fashion with the layered armor system instead of making the Perfect Build. Because going for min-maxed builds is a special kind of hell.

If you ever feel the need to mix up the grind loop, try different weapons. Hammer is Cool but its only 1 of 14 different weapons in the game.
