As someone who is making scalemaille pauldrons, a scalemaille vest and forearm guards (not scalemaille, I'm using a weave called "dragonscale". It's really neat, and I suggest looking it up if you don't know what it looks like) for a cosplay, this is really neat! I'm gonna stick with metal though, but it's awesome to see this brought into the additive manufacturing field now!

Amazing! If you incorporate aerogel paste (or some how impregnate it into the scale during printing it would make it completely flame proof. Very light weight and cheap surprisingly. Also with the d30 impact proof Non neutonium foam it would be impact proof and comfortable to wear. Keep it up this was an amazing idea!

Dragon skin / dragon scale body armor came out in the late 90’s early 2000’s and the private company was shutdown by the US government because family members were purchasing their armor and sending it to relatives fighting in the gulf.. As it was non GI the government didn’t want soldiers substituting their armor plates for this flexible lighter alternative. The official reason for the us military banning the product was “The adhesive used to hold the scales” did not hold up properly when deployed to desert environments. The glue came loose… I call BS and I feel that the glue could have been upgraded… Fast forward to the 3D printing era… I’d be curious if this company would start up again or if they were paid enough to stay off the grid
