Jay RPG Why is the game listed as June 11 as the release date in PSN but June 18 listed in Amazon and Best Buy. I just discovered this while in the PS store today because I got my LE from IF yesterday.

Never even heard about this game before but by the sounds of it, it sounds like its one of the best products compile heart has put out and if they keep improving on their formula then who knows what other great games we cab look forward to. From the footage you put out there, the game has an amazing soundtrack with a really great original story and its nice to see an extra aspect of your typical turn based battle formula to make the combat just a little more inventive.

The premise has some Mary Skelter vibes on it, I really liked Mary Skelter though the story was... bizarre. The combat was compelling enough so I played through it. The madness, transformation and devour system all looks a lot like systems in Mary Skelter edit: even the romantic scenes are triggered and behave the same way.

First, that intro got a solid chortle out of me. Second, Compile Heart's games are a guilty pleasure of mine. The plot is usually "blah blah here's your new waifu", and like you said, they really don't do a good job sticking the landing on most of their stories. But man, they really do a bang-up job on their combat systems. Their positional turn-based combat almost feels like a turn-based strategy game at times, and that's what keeps me coming back.

Charlotta is the best girl in this series. Her sass and direct approach to the other characters is quite refreshing in a JRPG. Also IMO she has the best character base design.

Looks great, sadly it is not $60 where I live but $78, before tax (which puts it in the low 90's). If it comes to pc or is put in a sale where the game becomes actually affordable, I will purchase it. I'm a sucker for Compile Heart games, really liked my experience with Fairy Fencer F as the story had its good points. I'm just going to have to be patient here.

Well a lot of their games have many waifus (Death End Re;Quest, Fairy Fencer F, Omega Quintet, Dark Rose Valkyrie). Sadly I don't think the protagonists end up with any of them as far as the ones I've played.

@@VenomEmperor Even better AGAREST SENKI: -5 generations - you MUST choose a bride between 3 girls for the First 4 generations - in the true ending (last generation) 9 choices😋 - the First 4 even include a wedding dress version and, at level 5 intimacy, an ecchi image in the bed

It's kinda their thing. That and fanservice as a primary/only mechanism for comic relief. No complaints, but it's sometimes similar to a suspense movie where all the actors are constantly wearing mascot costumes.

1:57 goddamn that "costume" is frickin ugly lmao great review, seems like this game have an unique battle and character progression system. anyway how's the game difficulties? i don't hate grinding, but do we need to grind in some point of the game?

There are several difficulty spikes in the game but grinding definitely shouldn't be needed on either easy or normal (I played on normal). Hard will probably require a little bit of grinding just to get levels up on maybe 2 or 3 occasions, you can probably avoid that by just killing everything you see/not skipping enemies while playing.

This game reminds me of Fairy Fencer F, but better. Have you played FFF and can you confirm? I've been disappointed with games like Moero Chronicle and Omega Quintet and some Neptunia spin-offs, but this finally looks interesting again.

No you don't, its a different world. I think fairy fencer f advent dark force, dragonstar varnir and death end request are one of the best compile heart games ^^

Personally, I liked Dragon Star Varnir a little more. I think it's more polished and less experimental than Death End Re;Quest as well.

I recommend death end re;quest. I platinumed both and thought DSV very mediocre mess and not that fun. Great ideas, bad execution. Only music is very well done. DER has much more likeable characters, challenging and all around fun TBH. I just reinstalled DER for another run. DSV left a bad taste. Different strokes for different folks. Do check more other reviews to make up your mind.

I'd recommend Dragon Star. I loved the concept of Death end but it was very very text heavy and not as polished as Dragon Star. Also Dragon stars characters are much more rounded.

This game is good for all JRPG fans. It has some similarity to omega quintet which is one of those fog games with cute storyline. However, I am not feeling the vibe of this game as much as omega but I am quite impressed with some of the cutscenes in this game. :)

Jason dp I haven't played ff 12 but this game is somehow similar to atelier series and omega quintet. I think this is by compile heart but I still need to decide between this game or kingdom hearts 3. Ff 12 is also in my list but since ff 7 remake is also coming out next year, I don't know which one I should buy first lol.

@axion lightedge slightly wrong with what you said. Moero chronicles H sold really well charting the top 30 eshop digital only games (placed 17th in the US eshop and 2nd place in the Japanese eshop) when it launched throughout its sale period. Mary skelter 2 is also coming to the west so their games whether they sell or not doesn’t seem to stop them supporting the switch as of now. The reason I’d say this game isn’t coming to switch yet is because they have too many games to focus on releasing, the fact that this game uses a engine that the switch doesn’t support which would require them a lot of time being put in and money. Death end request also uses the same engine, there were leaks of that game potentially coming but there’s no sign of that.

@MrValgard the game can potentially come but not anytime soon, not sure how long was dragons vanir in development for them but compile heart isn’t a huge company to be focusing on porting over new releases with the exception of neptunia rpg onto switch. The game would need to be optimized for switch anyways so because it’s unreal engine doesn’t mean it’ll be easy. Either way you can wait for the pc port or buy the ps4 version or we can all hope for the game to come to switch either next year if possible for them. Mary skelter 2 I think is what their focusing on when it comes to getting that game on switch. Also PQUBE is handeling the gun gun pixies game which is technically a IF/CH game.

Just play on easy or something the difficulties are there for a reason and i remember in neptunia series they even delibrately give you op weapon so....you can fly through the game and defeat boss (who you shouldnt be able too)

If you watched the review for more you can see there really wansn't any meaningful censorship. The girls, the clothes, and the jiggles are all there in full effect and view. This is the game you should support, because when CH does it better you tell them to suck it seriously? So when they improve it and keep the content there you are just saying you still don't want it. Why should we support nintendo when Smash was also censored by removing afew small things as well? You can even look it up. I mean if your going to be a hypocrite admit to being bias that is fine but don't take CH in that when they make a good move and your not supporting it. This is why noone should support mortal kombat but people still do even after the massive censorship backlash. Give credit and blame where its due.

I just rather wait for it to come to the Switch. Just because a game doesn't look like it got the censored treatment doesn't really mean anything. I'm still not going to forget before they announce the censorship it came out that they told developers not to disclose what Sony told them to censor in their games. And whether or not they didn't I'm not going to let Sony get a free pass. The fact that they even brought up the policy doing the PS5 announcement was sneaky enough in the hopes that people would focus more on the PS5 rather than what policy they mentioned. It's going to take more than this one game to convince me to support the PlayStation again.

In their Dragon form instead of them wearing less they should be wearing more like full plate armor more,it makes more sense as armor can be interpreted as Dragon scales,and you don't see a dragon with just scales here or there on their body,their scales are covering their entire body.

I understand IF + Compile have to raise the money to finance the switch to a new engine... they are probably in dire straits and as a fan I keep supporting them no matter what. Despite the messy and unacceptably low budget (even by IF standards) death end request, quite likely their worst game to date. And this looks like more of the same but.. fingers crossed, I am waiting for the shipment. I also believe IF is looking for a new franchise but I mean: Mary Skelter is a masterpiece, why don't they concentrate on that?! I hope they get back on track soon.

@@LTDLetsPlays good, in death end request you had lots of interesting ideas but nothing was refined and in the end it was a real mess so good to know this one is different. Still IF games are 1st and foremost interactive novels so I also hope the edgy, satirical, nonsensical and lighthearted writing we love IF for is back... that is what IF does best and that's what they should really focus on. Especially now that NIS is going bankrupt thay are the only possible heirs to disgaea... mugen souls and so on... releasing less but better games would certainly help in my opinion.

Federico Pinci probably well the writing of the game is mostly serious with slice of life parts For levity and feels like they have put way more effort for everything even the events that come from filling hearts that actually has a story line similar to Social links however Story is rather slow I’m in chapter 7 and we only got to know about Durandol and somewhat ruby eye we haven’t explored commander corberia and Emperor General battle is good atleast You can set traps you can move your enemies into the traps which fills their fear when that fills you can devour There are good amount of skills and ways to customise characters Also unlike the Reviewer in my opinion elixirs are really good for equipment

DE:RQ was a trainwreck that I tried to like. The combat was a pile of too many interesting ideas half-heartedly implemented, and the plot was...the combat was still largely enjoyable, despite its flaws. Non-combat stuff? It's Hyperdimension Neptunia wearing a VN's skin, and the charming clunkiness of the former has kinda lost its charm. I really hope they make some progress in that area, and maybe mix that with a story that's had more time to grow coherency, but I think it'll be a while at this rate.

Practically non-existent. I know from press release materials that they "altered" 2 CGI scenes for the PS4 release but I'm not sure which scenes they are and it certainly wasn't apparent during my playthrough. I don't know how iffy got away with it tbh, there are definitely things in the game that look like prime candidates for Sony-ordered censorship.

@@JRPGGaming I get the feeling if a company is good at presenting their game they can slip it by without much bother. I think the ones getting the most heat are the ones that make zero attempts at hiding their fanservice pandering and unashamed sexualized nature, like the Senran Kagura series. I mean what did they expect when one of their main draws in a recent title was a "rub the girl" mode?

The party's madness is only affected by things you do automatically. You make dialogue choices as you progress through the story, and you fight bosses. You don't need to go out of your way to deal with madness. The little sister witches are pretty easily managed, you always end up back at home-base at some point during each chapter which makes checking in on them (along with the shop and huntery for side-quests) second nature.

While the story is good its too short even compared to other compa games (i manage to finish it with only 15 hours without skipping any of the dialogue, kinda half of death end re quest). A lot of potential character and stories gone to waste (like durandol, the ravens, and the empire, they literaly break apart in 1 chapter without mc doing anything) that it feels like they rushed mid production. The final chapter lack climax. Overall it feels incomplete.

Some rpgs with vn mixed in have towns, but in most jrpgs towns are empty, what do you expect though?This is not skyrim, towns in rpgs are the only thing western devs can do better.

The digital version is dropping but the physical copy seems to be stagnant and maybe even slightly growing from what I've seen. As for the story, I've heard it's not as good as Death End it holds its own. Haven't got to play it yet so that's just here say.

Compile Hearts games can be somewhat good, but usually have annoying dialogue that drags on and on and on. Repeating themselves in an annoying way. Oh, and usually in a visual novel form. Zzz...... I tend to stay away from their games now, which is unfortunate. I can never finish them due to the story, but the battles are usually fun.

As much as I want this, Neptunia is kind of suffering from too many reused jokes regardless of whether its a spinoff or not. It doesnt have the same charm as the "first Neptunia game" (whichever one you play. Not the PS3 one.) Staying away for a while to wait for the actual gaming industry to do more stupid stuff to make fun of sounds just as good. I mean, i went through my first game, rebirth 1, laughing most of the time. VII laughing a lot less. and Brave Neptunia with a poker face. Thats not a good sign.

Do not listen to the Negative cause of this review. The game has great music and the landscape environment plays like Shining Resonance with a splash of Fairy Fencer F. The battle is turn based butt the enemy has to fall within range on the square grid. It is exactly like Enchanted arms which had a great battle system minus all the random enemy fights. It's a pretty awesome game, try it for yourself please!
