I think Forspoken's critique was incredibly unfair, leading the company to be bought by Square Enix. Let's talk about it after my 100% completion and Platinum Trophy. I've also started playing Star Ocean The Divine Force for the PlayStation 5.

Square didn't buy Luminous, they were already a subsidiary of Square. The staff was absorbed into other existing studios.

Yah they also made Final Fantasy 15. The Luminous engine had massive issues from the start though. The game didn’t deserve the sheer level of hate thrown at it though, I do agree with that.

its cheap af now. Honestly to me I had more fun playing forspoken then starfield.. the fluid movement and the combat was fun.

Thank you for speaking up about this game. I honestly did get it on sale, for about $25 dollars, mainly because I used some credit card rewards, so I MIGHT be a little biased, but I was blown away with how fun this game is. I honestly was like "where is this awful game that everyone is talking about?" The graphics were absolutely wonderful, the gameplay was super fun, using the magic was super fun, the story was pretty good actually and yes while the character was an acquired taste, it wasn't justifiable in my opinion to have slammed this game so hard into oblivion to where the studio had to straight up be dissolved. This was a great game and I feel sad that the people who made it have to live with the disgrace of its bad press.

I'm playing the new star ocean. ( ive been a fan since the second star ocean on ps1 ) im about 35 hours into it. Omgosh, so many different abilities to level up . And the story and gameplay were so much better than the last star ocean.

As long as you enjoy a game, it doesn't matter what other people think. Everyone has different opinions, likes, and dislikes. For me, I have moderate interest in Forspoken in terms of gameplay but not the main character or story (too cringy for me). May pick it up someday if I find a REALLY deep sale. However, I DO have a lot of interest in Star Ocean The Divine Force. If you're getting into Star Ocean series, Star Ocean 2 and 3 are solid games to check out. (They are older games on the ps1 and ps2, respectively.) Thanks for another great video!

thank you for being so honest about forspoken and not just jumping on the hate train. While I played the demo and decided it wasn’t for me I still did have a nice time with the combat and I felt like a lot of people were kinda harsh because it was trendy to be. This video reminded me how important it is to not allow someone else’s opinion to stop you from trying something yourself because you just may end up liking it even if many others hate it. When it goes on sale I’ll probably be picking it up.

They gave a demo, lots of people played it and knew they didn’t like it but decided to spend money anyway just to cry about how much they hate it when they could’ve avoided if they wanted to like I did. If you don’t like it don’t play it and move on it’s that simple but no a lot of people did decide to be hateful because it was popular to do so. No one said the game was perfect but if it can be avoided then just do that instead of crying online about it. Lots of people knew they hated it by the dialogue in the trailers and STILL bought it just to cry about it. it’s perfectly fine to not like something and I feel like you think I’m saying it’s not when my comment is pointed at people who DID jump on a hate train. If you didn’t and you really disliked it no one’s talking to you 💀

Also, completely agree that Star Ocean the Divine Force is a great game. The characters were my favorite ensemble cast in a long time. I think I like this group of characters better than I liked the cast in Tales of Arise. The combat is really cool where you can map your buttons for combos.

I'll admit that clearing the map in Forspoken was very grindy and frustrating at times but the game in general did not deserve the hate. Looking forward to what they do with the DLC coming out soon even if it is a prequel. I also liked what I played of Star Ocean when I picked it up last year, gotta get back to that at some point.

The same for me ! Forspoken and star ocean the divine force were very enjoyable games, I loved both of them and didn’t think I would play so many hours on each one. Imo they’re not in the top list of the best rpg I’ve played these last years, but still they are in the « second list » of those very good rpg that give you a good time, where you live a definitely enjoyable adventure.

First and foremost I loved the video thanks so much for covering these games❤❤❤❤ I really wanted to play forspoken myself as it looks amazing ❤ it’s definitely my type of game. And I love the main character, was hoping it would be getting a switch port sometime?🤔🤔 however now I’m guessing it won’t happen….. any suggestions for the best system to play forspoken on? As I only have a switch currently.. As regards to star ocean ❤ I really want to play it myself, sadly it dose not have a switch port😅 maybe it will sometime?… guess I Will need to look to a different system

I played the demo and the controls just never clicked with me. I changed a lot of settings trying to get it to "feel right", but it just never did. I was going to buy it before I played the demo, but I just couldn't do it after I tried it out. Just not my thing

I'm also enjoying Star Ocean The Divine Force, there's really only two things that bug me in the game. The first is how often Characters repeat themselves, and the second is the fact there's no in game list for Item Creation to help you keep track of who makes what.

Thank you for this video. You read my mind exactly. I literally get excited like a kid again whenever I load up Star Ocean Divine Force. It ain’t perfect but it’s tons of fun. I guarantee you you'll forget both games when star ocean the 2nd story comes out let alone the November Mario games. 3:28 she even calls forspoken mindless. Glad valkyrie elysium had valkyrie profile lenneth to fall back on, which is way better with save states.

I just finished the main quest and am currently in the process of discovering the rest of the locations I haven’t been to yet. I enjoyed the game a lot. I haven’t played the dlc yet but I have purchased it. I would recommend this. At my age (59) I like games that aren’t over complicated. I found this game to be challenging but easy to keep up with.

I didn't play Forspoken. But I loved Star Ocean: The Divine Force. Right now I went back to play Star Ocean 4. The studio wasn't bought by SE, it was originally a studio under SE that they separated it out to work on the Luminous engine. They close it down and re-absorb it back into SE probably means one thing: They are no longer going to use that engine anyway because it is nortoriously bad to optimize.

I guess the trailers from forspoken did it bad after release. Also many ppl love to hate what ppl hate so they review bombing without playing the game. Or like the first 2hours then refund back. You gave this game a chance and i'm glad you did! Cuz your opinion about that game make me want to buy it (on sales since it'll come like you said). As for star ocean, i never finished one but i guess this one is more user friendly. Kinda want to try it, especially if the story is fun and interesting! Great video! 😁

One of the complaints of the game is the open world is all about combat which is a problem when the combat is not challenging at all. The combat itself is good but it's becomes too easy to avoid getting hit by the enemy after you build up your character some.

We like games from different reasons. For example, I like games like Final Fantasy XV and XIII, which probably did not always get so high appraisal or rating score. In Final Fantasy XV I like car driving and watching changing landscapes. Maybe it reminds me of hot summer days when going to swimming or some other old memories are awakened. And maybe in FFXIII how heroes try to save world even if they are marked by sickness.. and because of that.. they are in some ways isolated from general public..

I feel the same way about Gotham Knights... playing this right now and absolutely loving it! Many bombed it for various reasons but I'm having a blast with it. Reminds me alot of Spiderman. Works out good for me too because it dropped so quickly in price allowed me to pick it up on the cheap... BONUS! So when Forespoken goes on a deep sale or is added to the PS Plus network I'll check it out some more (the demo was fun).

Still if she liked it good for her I thought it was almost as bad as ff 15. The level of making the game disk a coaster. Still i see nothing wrong with people that do like it.

That is not the only reason it has failed in sales. It has a ton of issues. It's not a bad game, but for how much money was put into it. It hasn't done well. And there are enough people on the planet, that if it was a good game it would make money.

I enjoy "mindless" playing to relax too.., usally if the gameplay feeling is easy going (like fluid par-course) or if the atmosphere is great (like Tokyo Ghostwire, gliding over the night city)

Pretty late to the party but Star Ocean Divine Force was also my first Star Ocean game and I absolutely loved it and became a fan of the series. The amount of different combos you could apply in combat is just so good. Also, Ray and Laeticia have different battle theme and I am glad I picked Laeticia because her battle theme is a complete banger.

Just got Forespoken for $25 or so and I dig it. I think the cutscenes are a little meh, especially when your character cant move for 5 seconds when they’re finished. But dang. The traversal is good. So fun. Such deep hate is unfounded

Omg thank you for this, you literally said everything I’ve been saying since the game came out. It’s crazy how people are dogpiling on this game for doing what so many other open world games do, without backlash. Not every game needs to be a 10 out of 10 to be valid, also as much as gamers cry about sequels, you see why companies don’t want to make new IP. From Callisto Protocol to this game it’s frankly ridiculous.

It's cause it takes forever to make a game and costs so much. People and devs both are obsessed with cutting edge graphics. Not realizing new ips can't do that. They need to build their audience first. Otherwise most games are half assed and rushed to not take 15 years to make just for it to fall flat in sales after costing millions

Plenty of new ips still come out. This game has a lot of issues with development before launch. Sure people hated on it. But at the same time if it was a good game, it still would have sold ok at least. It has not. Like at all. It's an ok game, but for how much money it cost to make it.

I honestly really enjoyed the game, the combat is super solid. The adaptive triggers are used very well. The beginning is a little slow, but the ending is really good. Some of the dialogue is a bit of a miss, but overall great game. 8/10

Thanks to your review, I gave this game a try and am loving it! It has a lot of great settings to adjust difficulty also. I love the story, world lore and chatty banter with cuff. I also like the German voice as I'm trying to learn that language.

traversal can be do important, Xeno 1 & X were great to traverse too (occasionally running through 1st person view running through some landscapes, especially Xeno X) ... 1st person can be cool,.. but 3rd person view games, where the character is too close to the camera is annoying, than I also usually zoom out (can understand, why you zoomed out for Star Ocean)

A review that doesn't bash one of the few games I platinumed this year? What is this craziness. The combat, the graphics, the visual style and feel of the world, the parkour and the music in Forspoken are all absolutely delightful. Yes, Frey can be a bit jarring with her attitude but eh, she's had a life and her attitude reflects her past. Yes, the banter between her and the cuff can get a bit repetitive, but just tune it down or turn it off if it bothers too much. And yes, the world is void of other people, and even though there is a lore explanation for it, it would've been nice if there was at least one other city or town somewhere out there. It's not a perfect game, I struggle to find one that is, but it is a definitive highlight of my gaming year for damn sure.

Wow I'm so glad you are sticking for Forspoken because it is incredible. I usually find myself not finishing most games because I lose interest fairly quickly but Forspoken I could not put down. It does have flaws but what game doesn't, the hate for this game is unwarranted and rediculous but Im very happy others enjoyed it as much as I did.

And Prey (such a good game by same devs as dishonoured and so very good) and Remnant of the ashes (although glad to see they get a second bite and are bringing out remnant 2 which looks amazing and you can have a dog - i mean what more could you want! Lol) just a couple of egs. It just seems they all jump on the same bandwagon afraid to say anything different than the other lemmings. This is why i watch Ircha and actually RadBrad is another one that doesn’t get involved in others opinions and forms his own. But otherwise the majority seem to have a hive mind!

You have to take reviews with a grain of salt because it’s just that review’s opinion and that’s it. I only look at reviews to see what others think and if the game looks interesting to me I will want to play it myself to see if I like it or not. A lot of people just look at reviews and make their judges from that without even trying the game for themselves. Forspoken looks interesting to me but I would only will get a chance to play it if it was on sale.

The best games are those that you remember the characters names,actions,moments....what is her name??will you remember her in 5 years??...you will never forget Link or Zelda,who forgot about Commander Sheppard? or Tali...🖖

Hi and thanks for the review,i agree with you that all the hate for this game is unjustified,apart from the bad dialogues i don't understand what's so wrong about this game,the combat and the navigation are fantastic and so is the explorarion and leveling up,the story is pretty good and i don't mind the characters,surely not the best game for an exclusive but still very enjoyable and adictive,i got a new physical copy for 30 euros and i'm very happy about it,so far i have 20 hours into the game and i'll go for the platinum.
