This is the first sub 4 hour run of Dragon Warrior 2!
This run features new early game manipulation that was found by vaxherd, who did the DW3 TAS, and catklaw who found the first metal slime manipulation plus Iron Helmet drop. I've extended their findings to manipulate and kill 3 additional metal slimes plus 2 extra enemies.
By giving the Hero the name uHkd, this locks the game's RNG to a single value, and you don't get any encounters until you save the game. This RNG 'seed lock' must be unlocked, otherwise the game will softlock when you get to the forced Gremlin battle before the Ship. When the game is finally saved in Hamlin and the RNG unlocked, I manipulate my movement to get 4 metal slime kills (plus extra enemies) as well as a Iron Helmet drop, which makes needing gold a non-issue.
The run itself was my best up until the grind section in Rhone, where I lost at least 20+ minutes. Then I also had a death to Malroth, which lost around 10 mins.
