Right, like battle Shonen anime/manga hits differently when you're an adult. This is why I HxH and FullMetal has gotten better with age. It moved past just punch hard = good.

Dragonball is originally a gag manga that has martial arts and it became a battle shonen later on, but I feel like it doesn't have the balance of its predecessors and the only thing that came out good besides some of the fights are the movies, but the manga is better than the anime and when I read it I see Goku, not a childish braindead parody of him

Yeah. Like, did people forget that whole like half a season we followed Mr Sayaman while they were trying to push Gohan as the main character. Brutal stuff. I like Gohan and if Toriama would have committed it would have probably propelled the show to new heights. No one, absolutely no one, watched him beat cell by being the first Super Saiyan 2 and didn't think it was the coolest thing ever. He was supposed to be the dawn of a new chapter but then we just reverted halfway through and then boo comes along and instead of Gohan and Goku fusing it goes back to the status quo.

Just cuz "I" or "You" didn't like something doesn't mean others didn't. Dragon Ball Super was Very successful and even more importantly; continues to be. There's tons of things I hate that are also successful. But it's obvious "somebody" likes it. "A Lot" of people like it. And you gotta accept it. You ain't gotta love it, but screamin how much you hate it while it's winning, makes you look goofy. You can think 2+2=5 All Day, but the World is giving you a different answer. It's up to you if you take that into account in yo opinion. Personally, if I didn't like something, I wouldn't be in its comment section or I wouldn't run from the badge of being a hater 💯

@@williamchuba9397 Okay but if a show is absolute irredeemable trash then it doesn’t make sense for it to be that successful. The reality is that it is a flawed show that is still good enough to pull its weight. I agree that something being popular doesn’t mean it’s good, but it means enough people enjoy it for it to be good to them. If you don’t like it, that’s your own pejorative. Dragon ball has and will never be perfect; the reason why Z was popular despite its problems is still the same reason why people are enjoying Super.

The manga version is much better but Goku black is kinda overrated in general

@takahashishouko The manga gives certain characters more depth and development. Like how Zamasu's motivations and character arc are explored in more detail, the manga's fight scenes are often more strategic and well thought out, Vegeta plays a more significant role than in the anime, Vegito's depiction of power and his role are given more attention in the manga. Those are just a few examples of how the manga version is better.

4. Super just doesnt know what to do with its characters and inconsistent with them. Gotenks only showing in super is always made as a joke. Even though his original formation was to be a bit goofy, he was competent, and then they keep trunks and goten to look how they are since like 5 years ago. note we KNOW how Trunks is supposed to look in that time, cause we literally see him not once but twice from the future in a flash back and a re-animated flash back. I wont even talk about the blue hair, cause thats been talked about enough. And then Gohan, ever since ressurection F, they just did not know what to do with gohan. He's going back to trainin, he stops training, he's back training, he's stopped training. Like they cant write him to having a balance between being a scholor and a warrior until all of a sudden the TOP comes around and Gohan trains a bit and then gets back his power and then jumps up to super saiyan blue level. and how they just written Tien to job, when Tien though he didnt participate in the major fights in Z after the saiyans, when he did show up, he came with some crucial moments and timing, even surviving a human extinction attack that was supposed to kill everyone from a person way beyond he could even think about hurting. I dont want to get too far into this cause theres more points to make. 5: Ret cons galore. im not gonna bother with the potara earrings retcon, cause sure, that makes some sense at least, Its only permanent fusion with a kai. Fine. But retconing Goku's origin to be another super man adaption, retconning bardock. Retconning Trunks blue hair (mid show), having present kid trunks grow up and suddenly have blue hair now. The bardock wish in granolah arc. Cell jrs being back and on 17 island (which that in itself wouldn't be bad, if they actually did something with them. We only get a a couple pages of the manga of goten and trunks fighting them and that was it. that seems like that should be a bigger deal). Ret conning Jiren also saying he's not that much stronger than they are, he just used energy efficiently which call bullshit, we have eyes, that was not simply just energy efficiency, they even said how much over powering his ki and aura is multiple time. And now they retconning that in just a couple arcs later? Not to mention how they keep making beerus just a moving goal post, when logically and repeatedly implied they were getting close to him several arcs ago. And now he's so far surpassed them that defeating them is effortless. With the power scaling already as crazy as it is, this just makes it frustrating and ridiculous that theres an obvious arbitrary goal post on Beerus that they just keep moving and claiming he's just been holding back every time. Also apparently every one is a prodigy now. 6.: Too many forms with too little explanation. We have gotten more forms in this series than we got in DB, DBZ and DBGT combined. And none of them are properly explained or even hinted at. Can argue ultra instinct was from whis early on, but what it ended up being, as Whis said in the super manga. basically a new form instead of a technique. And then multiples of it. Not to mention they keep going back and forth about it being Mastered and not, now Mastered Ultra instinct isnt actually mastered which ends up just making this form/technique muddy. But every new form we see, gets no explanation. First Super saiyan god was just wished by the dragonballs, at least we got context about it. Super saiyan rage, Trunks just does it, Super saiyan Berserk (we know what it really is) but they act like its just super saiyan but uncontrollable. Broly's at least has some context to it, but the also call it something else. Super Saiyan Blue Evolution (which isnt even named in the show) Vegeta just does it, and breaks his limits (despite doing this multiple times before in the previous arcs with this form. and Gohan Beast, literally nothing. Absolutely nothing. And Orange Piccolo, nothing to go off of, but just interpretation of the symbol on his back when he transforms. When we get new forms, they just show up and then get a good basking shot of it, and then it keeps going. No questions asked or answered or anything. Meanwhile we have universe 6 saiyans that are as strong as the few universe 7 saiyans that are left, but somehow havent gone through the adversity they have to trigger super saiyan, ever. Like what? how does this makes sense? And on top of that, they can just do it from feeling a tingle in thier back. So they have two ways of doing it and none of them have ever done so in thier history until now? Despite them fighting in more wars and such given the U7 saiyans are endangered to not been able to keep fihting as long as them, And being that much signficantly stronger. So little makes sense, and its like they dont even try to make it make sense. And explain little or just badly.

7: Dropped potential. There is so much potential that Super doesnt capitalize on. The lack of focus on characters, the directions that could be gone and even hinted at but dont do anything with. Plot points dropped. What happened to Vegeta visiting the universe 6 saiyans, the cell jrs that are still alive, Future Trunks not staying in the present timeline but instead going to a back up save timeline and being pasted in it. Anything meaningful with Trunks and Goten. We got a little bit iwth them in super hero where they are finally older. But the pacing in that was pretty bad. But it was something but it came soo late too. Really glad to have a non goku arc in Super Hero but even with that arc it still has flaws that come inherently with super. 8: The animation and art style and animation is unappealing. Im not even talking about the first few couple of episodes as those were just bad due to scheduling issues. But the actual style predominantly in Super especially in the early half of it, just wasnt appealing. Now this is subjective. But alot of people like the older style (which we do get now and then, especially in the TOP arc). And its super noticable when it shows up, cause it feels like what was used to and just looks better. Not to say Z didnt have bad art and animation at times. But it was consistantly more appealing. And Super seems to be in a standard animation style (which suited better for promotional stuff but nto actual show.) And though Super Broly took a new direction, its good and much more liked. So its definitly not a case of nostalgia of something that we used to, cause that style of art and animation is pretty new to the series. Overall, its many many things, from big and small, and even the small, theres soo many small ones that it just builds up. Nostalgia doesnt have much to do with this, only that if you know the lore and the things that happened int he OG and Z, that the things in super becomes even more egregious. And one of the biggest things, Dragon Ball Super has done, has had people who used to hate and criticize GT to go back and actually appreciate what GT was trying to do much more, and realize alot of things GT tried to do and did do were more right. Where it had good ideas just bad execution. Where Super has sometimes okay execution but half baked ideas. The best things I liked about Super personally was the Goku Black arc and the later quarter of TOP and the Broly Movie. And I've read all of the manga up to about where it is now. The manga has its own issues on its own that I wont get into here, as they are linked but mostly separate from the anime. But I feel Dragonball Super has become too commercialized rather than somethng to deliver good art and story like the rest of its series. Even the promotional anime of Super Dragon Ball Heroes, feels really good and entertaining despite the crazy stuff that happens in that. But they do alot better at the above points than super does. Its just really short and a bit rushed in pacing cause is not a full anime but a promotional anime for the carrd game, but would wish it were.

Except the anime and manga was created because toriyama wanted to continue the series again. Point blank period
