People will tell you that cards are too expensive to play but once it becomes cheap they say theres no value

It's funny because people who call one piece expensive have clearly not played other card games. I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh many many many years ago then switched into cardfight vanguard, holllly lord the secondary markets were vile, ridiculous prices for very mid card effect's or anything generic is insanely expensive for a playset The fact that one pieces most expensive base rarity card being katakuri which round here was £30 at the time is like a blessing, barely any card other secs even hit above the £15 mark

I hate that a hobby has become so focused on profit for so many, I think that honestly hurts communities Scalpers hurt the market by not only lowering available product but deincentivizing new players from wanting to get into it… I think that some people focus too much on the value of a game rather than just playing the game because it’s fun… value should always be secondary imo, it’s great that value can be there but it shouldn’t be the primary or sole reason you play

I think that part of the reason why fusion isn’t doing as well as it could be is because people are burnt out. There are SO many different TCGs at the moment and a lot of people only have the time and money to main one game. I personally main OP but REALLY want to also play fusion world. the issue is I don’t have the spare time or money to go to a 2nd set of local tournaments each week. I don’t want to fully drop one piece to play fusion because one piece is fairly well established and fusion world is still “finding itself”. Honestly, I think that after the release a few more sets of fusion world the meta will hopefully be more diverse and hopefully pick up just like one piece did. Like you said fusion world is in its early stages

Let me try to explain it the way I see things: Bandai is targeting the same audience with all their anime TCGs. If you are not a diehard fan of one franchise, the tcg-guys go for the game that makes the most money. Currently one piece. These guys will jump to the next best nr1! If tomorrow that's FW, they will jump over. A big part of the audience also wants to stick to their favourite franchise. This is why DB is still doing OK. But with Bandai's decision to split the fanbase within 2 different TCGs, they just created confusion. This should never have happened... Honestly, as the Masters player myself, I wish they will fuse both games together rather sooner than later... Let us use both card games together and ban a few cards that could lead to ruling discussions... The more they adapt the Masters TCG ruling to the FW one, the less I see them being able to live one next to each other... Make it one game again and stop the confusion...

I think Topku meta really turned a lot of people away. I also was always a little surprised that the One Piece TCG seemed to get more attention than Dragon Ball since I believed DB had a bigger following (prizing aside), it might help if there was an active DB anime?

I started playing Fusion a month ago. Masters seemed too difficult and I like the online possibility. I barely cracked silver but I'm having a lot of fun! Really hoping this new set will get it some more hype because it deserves it!

Played various tcgs and masters is still my favourite! My main gripe with the game is not casual friendly and that the power of SCRs are insane and having 1 card that can with the games makes the most skillful game into who can get the SCR 1st! In terms of Fusion world, I'm from the UK and the players have dwindled for masters and when FW was announced we had quite a few old masters players pick up FW when we had the release event. However in classic Bandai fashion there was only one wave of set 1 so no one could get product and for 4 months there was no events! Then our 1st regional event we had should have been set 2 but due to product delays the event was set 1 at this point the format was so boring. Then we had another regional event which was set 3, at this point our LGS got in 3 cases of set 2 but no one bought the set as we had no events and the only "Money" cards at the time was topku and that was already hit! So our LGS got hardly no set 3 in as set 2 sold so poorly. And on top of that they have just announced today that set 4 is delayed for us 😂

I think the lack in variety of the meta is what hurts DBFW. I play locals in 3 different stores and it’s 80% starter Vegeta and Androids. Whereas when I play OP at those same stores, I don’t play the same leader twice that day.

There's no 1 reason that dragon ball card games isnt doing well. There's alot that happened that all added up to Dragon ball being a tainted IP on the TCG space. And I loved this game. Played master from set 1 until about 12-13 then picked up FW only for locals to be non existent in my area post topku. I think the biggest offender was back to back to back tier 0 formats. Between Mecha Frieza, Storm, Shenron Gogeta, Super Sheron, Invoker, Vegeks, Dark Broly etc. my area went from having 6+ locals a week firing at 16-32 players down to 1 store struggling to keep the same 6-8 players. So after the first tier 0 format happened in FW with Topku, all trust was lost again from returning players. Most stores I talked to refused to carry FW cause they got burned on buying too much Masters which cause set 1 to be short printed. Another issue is that Masters is too complicated, counter window 1, counter window 2..... enough said. Text on cards is out of hand. Every card has paragraphs of text. The price of promos also got out of hand. Spending 50+ a piece on promos to make your deck function as intended only for the deck to get hit from the ban list every format was not fun for anyone. And bandai is currently at war with itself by having all thier games have events at the same time so players have to pick 1 game and stick with it. And as you mentioned, One piece prizing is insane.

Masters is expensive atm due to low sales from stores. There is little to no product for masters, same for Digimon. Stores are only buying one piece basically
@itsantonioparker
@itsantonioparker 6 дней назад
1 of the main reasons is that Bandai schedules tournaments and events so close together that it’s difficult to enjoy both games! A couple of my friends in Mi. have transitioned from 1 Piece to Fusion World because 1 Piece product is expensive and hard to find, while Fusion World offers a more affordable option that’s easily available. Give it some time 💪🏽

The problem with the second argument is that boxes are only cheaper because stores are fire selling them online due to no local demand. If fusion world does take off, boxes will definitely be on par or greater than the value of op boxes. I definitely hope fw finds it's footing. Love the game!

Thankfully the official client exists so the game won't completely die. But bandais refusal to advertise the game for the first set outside of Facebook and Twitter was a huge mistake. As for IPs Dragonball is still a bigger IP than One Piece, but the demographics are completely different. Super had also been on hiatus when fusion world dropped, which did hurt it's advertisement further.

It took 12 to 15 minutes for you to get to the titles topic. One piece is the most internationally known anime/manga at this point, it even has a netflix show that was well received. Dragon ball was my childhood and Goku is known for being "that guy" from memes, meaning he still has relevance and notoriety. As tcgs I saw a few guys playing dragon ball fusion world the other day and their friend bought a starter to join. I was tempted to have a go myself. I can't talk about DBFW from a player or tournament standing. However there seems to be a lack of variety to date? Like a few starters and a handful of sets? I am happy to be corrected on this. One piece tcg seems to be doing well as people find it straightforward, can find a leader that plays the way they would like. This means variety at locals can be vast. By the end of this week one piece will have 20! Starter decks, yes some are repeats/reprints to get some old cards back into players hands. But you have a variety of routes in and picking cards for a deck feels like you have a beginner - meta upgrade path. I am not really the guy for tcg finance or prize support so I'll move on. The issue for me is Bandai. They cannot sustain a card game let alone 5( battle saga spirits, union arena, Digimon, DBFW and one piece), for a prolonged period. They just did a press release that talked about the next 6 months of Digimon. 6 months. That's nothing. Wizard of the Coast and Pokémon both have test development teams (MTG has future league and Pokémon has creatures) that areplay testing for sets being planned 2-3 years in advance. Bandai seems to do all their creation and development in a much shorter time frame and what feels like in isolation to what has happened and how things will progress. I also feel this has a knock on effect with consumer confidence as the history of dragon ball super, which was very popular on release and poorly supported going forward, has players feeling like they have been fooled once and don't want to be fooled twice.

Definitely hoping that a larger card pool and the eventual release of multi-color leaders addresses some of the issues people have with FW. The current card pool makes a lot of decks within the same color feel too similar because the leader isn't enough to push diversity meaningfully. It's promising to see them shift the identities of the core colors a bit in set 4, though, so I'm optimistic we'll get some more interesting options soon

Masters if the best of the three games due to the complexity. The rng is very low in the game outside of super combos and finding your scr. Fusion world is good and definitely more skillful than one piece, but negate, counter plays flood gates and z decks add an element of skill expression. Master had some power creep issue definitely that hurt the game. One oiece. Is truly a game that is designed to be casual but is enjoy competitively due to popularity. However the variance is very high in thet game and matchups feel rock paper scissors. Fusion world would be benifer from not adding flood gates, but adding simple negates that could be played around. It should avoid ultimates, union fusion/potora, unisons, z deck.

Leaders also play uniquely on front and back side. The decks follow more of a thematic theme to the characters of a show.

My biggest gripes with Bandai over fusion world is Regionals and tournament promos. It sucked that like 90 percent of regionals were held in central part of the US, like Illinois and Texas. California only had one this competitive season and I believe we had the highest attendance. A pro argument can be it’s easier for players to travel to the middle than coast to coast, which it is. But I would like to have more regionals close to home and not having to spend a bunch of money on flights and hotel. Players in my area haven’t played as much because there’s nothing to grind for and are not willing to travel out of state for regionals. My 2nd gripe is the selection of store tournament and championship pack promo cards. Why did Bandai choose cards with little to no meta relevance. It makes me not want to grind at locals for promos that I know I won’t use and have no value. The winner pack promos do look good, but I wish they were cards I want to put into my deck. If they chose meta relevant cards, tournament promos will have more demand and be able to retain value. This would give huge incentive for players to grind locals .

Main things I learned from doing a bit of research: 1. DBSFW TCG has a stale meta, bad promotion/marketing and very little incentive to play. 2. One Piece TCG is essentially the opposite. 3. Barely anyone is playing the DBSFW TCG in the West, partly due to the game's issues and partly due to other new TCGs taking away more of the playerbase (One Piece, Union Arena etc.) than the big 3 already were (Magic, Yugioh, Pokemon). 4. One Piece as an IP appeals to a wider audience, Dragon Ball is a bit more masculine and "old school" and is essentially hanging on to nostalgia whereas One Piece as a whole always seems to be moving forward.

I think its that the meta alongside many of the issues mentioned already by others and yourself is very fixed and rigid. You know how your match up will go and you kind of know what steps your opponent will make and vice versa. There isn't a lot of variety within leader playstyles. Plus Topku butchered locals.

I think the biggest reason is op got batsu to make a free online client to practice cards and try the game before buying in set 1 whereas fusion world has an online client that requires significant investment to even test a deck.

I got into fusion world after someone persuaded me to play a game with him. Maybe carry 2 decks around to one piece tournaments. Get there early and offer for them to play with a deck against you before the local starts. I really like the gameplay of fusion world and while I still mainly play one piece I try to get to the fusion world local weekly. Additionally find out who is playing dragon ball in the fgc community. Gotta find people who like dragon ball first that's where one piece thrives is just people have never played a tcg and love one piece. Extending out to dragon ball fans is the way to go. I think them keeping masters around could hurt the community as it provides an unnecessary divide. Personally I don't like the look of the dragon ball masters cards, the cleaner card they've made emulating one piece kind of looks nice to me

I started back into TCGs with One Piece, and a lot of the reason was for the value of the cards. Not so much that I wanted to flip for profit, but more-so that it doesn't feel like you're losing money by playing and collecting. Masters wasn't appealing to me for a lot of the reasons you mentioned, too complicated, too many words on cards, not a huge fan of the art style, and the fact that it's not an international game. I started into Fusion World as a second game to One Piece, but I am now more focused on Fusion World and honestly prefer it more. Disappointing that it's not as popular currently but hoping that changes. For me the main reasons are, TopKu meta killed the momentum, One Piece is just a bit more popular currently as a franchise, and a lot of the potential Fusion World player base was already invested into One Piece and don't have time for a second game. Also the fact that Dragonball has had several different card games is confusing to new players. I think if Fusion World had've released before One Piece and without Masters before-hand, it would be a very different scene...

@@crazypicklez3695 my biggest issue early on was the fact that there are 2 counter windows, which you can do different things in each. But a lot of it now has to do with the paragraphs of text on each card

@@philplaystcg420 the counterplay windows are definitely more confusing than they need to be, i feel after i heard it explained well it made sense to me. Idk I'm not convinced. I really like the gameplay of fusion world. 1) I get to go through so much more of my deck due to swining with leader every turn and there being 8 life instead of 4/5 leading to higher consistency than one piece 2) There are no triggers. 3) I get to swing with characters when they're played leading to a slightly faster paced game that enjoy.
