I really liked the fact this isnt TFS 2. You have your own takes on things I mean, Cleary the characters have Significantly different personalities. Goku isnt as dumb or childish as in Dbza, and can actualy Process more complex information by examples and be more cunning Keep this way. Dont Kill your creativity to adapt to other teams' style, you cant be em, but can be you. I'm interested in what you guys will do.

Was very good especially for a first episode! I like that you pay reverence to the TFS series but aren't 100% derivative of it. The voice acting was pretty solid, and the quality of the audio was good. If I were to offer a piece of constructive criticism, as someone who has watched the TFS version WAY too many times, I would attempt to make the dialogue and pacing snappier. Theres some noticeable lulls here and there throughout the episode, and if you pay attention to the TFS version, especially in the later episodes, they really don't let any dead air sit, unless its specifically for the sake of a joke. Slightly faster pacing would do wonders here I think. That being said, this is honestly such a well done first episode, and I really want to encourage everyone involved to keep the great work up and keep at it. Look at DBZA episode 1 vs. episode 60, and how far they came. You absolutely have the potential to improve just as much as they did. So just plant your feet, grit your teeth, and EAT! THAT! HORSE!

+1 on the pacing, but it’s a very good sign that that’s my only major gripe. The jokes landed, most of the voices were great, though I feel north and west kai could go back in the oven for a bit, and the writing was solid and I assume it will only improve as they find their footing throughout production

You know that feeling you get when a show you liked finishes and then gets revived by a different team in order to finish what the predecessors started…that is what I’m feeling. To narrow it down even further, TFS’s DBZ Abridged is the Ocean dub that introduced US fans to Dragon Ball Z and this DBZ Abridged series is Funimation’s in-house dub that continued the series after they stopped outsourcing to Ocean Productions. It’s familiar, but definitely has its own footprints to leave a mark. All I can say is this is off to a pretty good start and I’m interested to see where this goes from here.

Yes, they're nice callbacks, but it would set you guys up even better in the long run if you took this in your own direction. Also maybe trim the episode a bit to improve pacing. Of course they’ll come up from time to time because it’s a continuation and three of the people in the writer’s room love their references… and then there’s the fourth one who’s a normal human being and tempers us three 😂 But we definitely do want this to have its own identity while still feeling like part of the story we all loved watching! Wow! Really really good stuff! I get early abridged energy watching this. Which is to be expected for the first episode. -Impressions are really good! -I love the fact that TFS’s continuity is respected. A small critique- It’s easier said than done, and I understand it will take a few episodes before you get this down, but I felt the pacing was a bit slow. I kinda lost interest in some of the slower scenes. I think making it just a bit more snappier in certain areas would push it from a 7 to a 9 for what you are going for. Good luck going forward. I am excited to see where this goes!

I assure you, we get a lot snappier, think of this like our training arc! Praying this doesn't get taken down or buried - I remember seeing another fanmade Buu Saga Abridged that I just can't seem to find anymore, especially after TFS did their Buu Bits - I hope this gets traction and a lot more recognition because you're doing amazing work!

This is a pretty good start! The writing and editing feels incredibly close to TFS’s, the voice direction and acting is really good, hell if I wasn’t as familiar with DBZA as I was, I’d probably think you got Masako, Taka, and Kaiser on to voice Goku, Cell, and King Kai. Definitely looking forward to the next few episodes. Though, quick question, when you guys do get to the Buu Saga proper after the Otherworld Tournament Saga wraps up, will there be redubbings of the Buu Bits or will you create your own original takes on the scenes in place where the Buu Bits would be

Thanks for the kind words! Saad mentioned at the end card that we’re working on episodes 2 and 3 simultaneously right now. While that doesn’t give an exact timeline, just know that episode 3 is when we intend to start Gohan’s high school arc!

There was another channel that also attempted to revive DBZA (although I'm not sure what's going on with that, since it's been over two years since their last upload), and while they were doing an admirable enough job, one gripe I had with it was how rushed the story was. I get the point of an Abridged series cutting out a lot of the fat, but their Episode 61 completely skipped Goku's time in Otherworld, as well as Gohan's time at school, and even him meeting Videl. Leaving a weird void in the story in that it jumped straight to Gohan becoming Saiyaman, and then the World Martial Arts Tournament being announced during their opening episode.

this is really good! TFS of course set an impossible to reach standard by the end of their run but this is certainly on par with their early andoird saga stuff at the very least! The opening narration ran a little long for my liking (that voice is hard to keep up and working for such a long period of time but the narration itself was fun enough to mostly make up for that). But aside from that, this was really good! a lot of the jokes felt very FTS, the pacing for the most part was good, even a good amount of the voices are just perfect! I really hope you keep it up because my soul has a DBZA shaped hole that has gone unfilled for wayyyyy too long!

It's really funny, professionally I've got my degree in CG Animation, and I've been asked to dive into UE5 for rendering recently, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a video called "HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE UNREAL ENGINE CINEMATIC TOOLS" front and center when I went to go check out who wrote this (I like knowing who writes long comments on this video, I get curious). Hey! Just wanted to say, don’t let anyone tell you this is shit. There’s stuff to be worked on, but I could say that about TFS episode 60 part 3 or even episode 1 of Daima. Those were both pretty great, and this is pretty great too given the context. I was in your fan server before your team fell out and I’m sorry that happened to you all, especially after seeing a year later that the same people were capable of this much without the influence of a piece of shit like your old “leader” if you can even call him that. I think he might be in the woodwork of your comments section too btw. Heads up if you’re reading this. Idk what else has changed in the meantime, but if he ever comes after you, don’t let it get to you. Keep going. Keep creating. Keep improving. I could never do something like this. I don’t think your old leader could ever hope for it either. Regardless of whatever valid criticism there may be for this, know that this is yours and your own. It’s both referential and reverent of TFS, while taking on its own identity. It’s great. I had fun watching this the first time, the second time, and the third time. I hope you all manage to pull this off. No ones ever shown as much promise in this space as I think you all have. Thanks for bringing back one of the most important parts of my childhood. Even if you don’t manage to finish this out, knowing you tried and having even this attempt to cherish means the world. I’m getting overly dramatic now I’m sure, but just know I’m appreciative of your genuine good-faith attempt at this. I hope to see episode 2 whenever you all are able to have it out, whether that’s a month or 10 years from now.

I have no idea why the Otherworld Tournament is hated so much. While it clearly has no stakes, it’s still fun and Pikkon is quite memorable.

This is, incredibly well made, like REALLY Really well made, I really liked the characters voices, the humor reminds me of beginning of the TFS dub, and the MasenkoX Goku voice is on point I literally only have 2 problems and one is just being picky at freezas voice, number 2 is I feel like you should go more into depth with adding humor plot lines like tfs did, that’s literally my only problems, this is amazing

This is honestly insanely well written It’s like all of the characters were given the love and attention to detail they could get And to think Hifl actually happened, frieza and cell still have such a dynamic and cell STILL wanted to fight goku but couldn’t which ended up like another form of hell for him Is pretty sweet

A but rough around the edges, but not bad in the slightest, and to be fair TFS' god-tier level editing is hard to replicate. This is really good so far though, and just like early DBZA, I'm excited to see how much this series will grow in the future, I can't wait!

This came up on my recommended feed and i clicked going in with a open mind, I can say that I’m really impressed with this, to have this as a first episode it has the vibes of TFS but you managed to put your own spin to where you can call it your own,I can tell this is gonna be a long but very exciting journey along the progression.

Wow this was a welcome surprise on my reccomended. A strong attempt at a continuation that plenty have clammored for. This series has plenty of potential given the wild wild west of early abridging has come and gone son theres plenty of knowledge out there to reference. Several times through this episode had me dying. Cat Loves Food was peak reference. Voices will always be what people are going to warm up to last. This Goku is really solid, though. Big shoes to fill with Vegeta and Piccolo. Upside is plenty of the characters have big changes so theres more room for interpretation. Very enthusiastic subscribe here

This caught me by surprise as i pushed through the intro. The finding wood bit was too aggressive and try hard. Thats my only complaint. Too many dubs dont have enough thought into their jokes and just aggressively tackle logic questionable logic in a series instead of actually writing a fluid script. The rest of this, was a fun time. Another fantastic abridged that does its own thing is the gundam abridged series.
