I understand it. Vegeta can’t be wished back because he’s died twice. I think he only came back by another rule? Gohan dying was just too much for chi chi as he was never supposed to be a fighter again.
You know..as a father this shit actually hits pretty hard..imagine having to tell the mother of your kids, regardless of you two are together or not, ones gone..these scenes have more emotional impact as we get older
Problem with that though is that they not long ago just made a wish for everyone that died that day to be resurrected. So even if Gohan died from Buu’s attack, they should known that he would’ve been fine and well after the wish, since the wish was that everyone that died that day to be brought back to life except for the evil ones. And yet this is never brought up at any time.
@@mruptownK Goku and Piccolo would’ve known better, they were there themselves. They knew full well he “died” before the wish, so they would know Gohan would have to be alive out there somewhere.
Incorrect. They all knew that at this rate, with no one able to stop Majin Buu, eventually either no one would be alive to wish anyone back, or Dende and the New Planet Namek would eventually be destroyed, meaning the Dragon Balls are gone forever...think of the big picture before making a preconceived assumption
I think part of it was that with Krillin already having died once and the Namekian Dragon Balls currently unusable, he had concluded that Krillin was gone forever, whereas Gohan could still be revived once
Super is entertaining and all but it's Bullshit. It seems like no character development has been done what so ever. It has become more of a Goku Show rather than Dragon Ball. Looking back at Z , it made me realise how good it was and how this shit has nothing on Z, Z was emotional had a deeper meaning and was better in so many aspects, such symbolic dialogues with such deep meanings. E.g gohan's SSJ2 Transformation and 16s speech, Gokus Transformation to Super Sayian etc. There was so much work put into every character but in super now, the characters they have invested so much into have just been ignored instead all these new characters appear out of nowhere and have a bigger part in the show than the characters with actual development which is just bullshit. Like Gohan was shown with so much potential higer than that of his father but it seems like they completely forgot ot ignored it, Tien was to have a bigger role but again ignored or forgotten. Super was just a disappointment
in Dragon Ball super He does care about his family like in the Goku black arc where zamasu tells Goku that he killed his family Goku explosive in rage from hearing that his family was killed
It's the ONLY Goku I know and will continue to know. I don't know who this walking power fantasy is for marketing purposes but it ain't the Goku I grew up knowing. And I really wish the fandom could see that.....

Trey Ingram yeah that’s one thing super really needed but that’s mainly because the arcs are so damn short and to rushed. The Goku Black arc could’ve had these kinds of moments but they failed to capitalize.
Dbs is just lazy recoloring for toy sales. GT and z and ball were passion projects. GT was ended not because ratings, they were great. They ended it with a good ending. If it ended by cancellation they wouldn't have a ending. Itd end mid season after 17 or something

@@varkrow Goku is literally the reason of not only Gohan's realized adult self, not only his limit surpassing, not only his universe-saving deed, not only the reason he survived but especially the reason Gohan was the child and man that he was. He loved and looked up to his dad, and just like Goku loved and believed in him of course.
Majin buu was still terrorizing, dragonballs first wish was just used and second won't be active for another 6 months. Vegeta already died once, Gohan (assumed dead) can come back but it would likely be too late. Earth's population was dying by hundreds of thousands in a matter of hours. Goku had less than 16 hours before he had to go back to the afterlife. Fusion and Super saiyan 3 weren't concepts to consider yet, timer wise. their pain is real.
@@harukatakahashi8822 WTF Krillin!!! Her husband and the father of her son is dead. Besides, vegeta was revived once with the dragonballs, and bulma knows this.
The real followers know this feeling...this scene...this music...we didn’t know where this Saga was heading...but this fucking hit all of us to the core.
@@georgeschmall9254 I wouldn’t agree we didn’t know where the series was headed but. In all of having that The stakes were pretty high here in fact already having vegeta die on namek and here was already his last straw and bringing him back would intensify the negative energy of the dragon balls also gohan by him dying with mystic energy his life span was pummeled by him being revived as well because the Kai’s have energy that are angel like with their lives being parallel of that in which of a god of destruction he was the strongest mortal in real earthling history of dragon ball when you think about it it wasn’t a way to have hope here because gohan already died in the future and here too it feels like the end

But let's be honest, it was already doomed forever lol :D
I still remember the Toonami promo from the early Majin Buu arc where Goku delivered this bombshell and to this day over 20 years later Tiffany Vollmer's scream of anguish still gives me chills
This situation is different, majin can one shot both piccolo or dende, and he knows where they are so they can't be sure that everyone will return (though they don't know about plot armour so..)
This moment of Dragonball Z captured so much emotion. You could feel the tension before Goku told everyone the bad news. That's what I loved about this scene.
This was an epic arc. Everyone was dying left and right, or assumed dead (Gohan for example). It made it more intense because Goku's time on earth was limited, so if he couldn't stop Buu, and Vegeta being dead, there was really no one left who could stop Buu. They all caught lucky breaks in this saga, with the Old Kai unlocking Gohans potential, and then the old Kai giving Goku his life to help save the earth, and then for King Yemma to send Vegeta back to earth to stop Buu. Sheesh. Overall it had a lot of great moments. The Buu arc literally wipes out Super in regards to emotional build ups. Loved Super don't get me wrong but it didn't have a lot of moments like Z did. And the introduction to Vegito was dope as hell.
This was a really epic arc I agree, but like you said they had a lot of luck and that is one reason why it might not be enjoyed as much because like what the freakin odds of this and that and blah blah blah, but it’s nothing compared to the amount off a*s pulls Goku had in Super.
this arc would've been better if gohan was the star. But then fusions wouldn't exist if they didn't bring back goku. Gohan and Vegeta fusing would be weird
"how can this be, I love him."-Videl Hearing Videl confess her love for Gohan after Goku tells everyone that he and Vegeta were killed really touches my heart. Videl is basically Gohan's Mary Jane.
@@Nikolaj11Nah. Spopovich being the reason she turned into a housewife is a popular misconception but right after the Buu saga she continues being a vigilante crime fighter and when Super Buu Hijacks Kami’s lookout she stands up to him and holds her ground. Also she is a martial arts instructor in superhero. What happened was that they had no idea to put her, or any side character into the plot, because Super is a trash cash grab that only cares about new hair colours and being a Goku show.
@@nivnavion It's a bit sad though, because her continuing to be a fighter, or at least a crime fighter, would totally fit and be a kinda wholesome twist on the SAHM dynamic, with Gohan cooped up at home with his studies. I always thought she was great as the fighting tomboy, which was one of the details that made her a really refreshing girlfriend to one of the main characters.
I wish the dragon balls had more conditions. You get three wishes. Only being able to revived once or if you use all 3 wishes you can wish 1 person back. That way when someone dies its still scary cause who knows if one of the dragon balls gets destroyed. Having to get them all x4 is still 4 years of wait right? Didn't it take 1 year for the balls to become usable after being used?
Ik this old comment but idk if you didn’t watch the show but dende made the dragon balls only grant 2 wishes if you wish someone back you can’t wish them back again and he made them a little bit stronger so you could wish more people back at once and again once you make a wish with the dragon ball you can’t do the same wish it took them 2 and half years to wish everyone that died in the sayin saga and namek saga back this is all said in the show and manga
Me: What I have to tell you isn't easy for me to say right now but.......... Goten and Trunks are going to be fine..... But Gohan and Vegeta are dead. (Everyone gasps in shock) Bulma: No... Vegeta no... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! (Starts crying) Chi-Chi: (Faints) Videl: (Lowers her head in disbelief) Tien: Why do you care? Bulma: (stops crying) What? Chi-Chi: (Wakes up) Huh? Videl: (looks up in confusion) Come again? Tien: Why do any of you care? Are you forgetting the reason they went to planet Namek all those years ago? Now we have two sets of dragon balls! Bulma: Well yeah but... You make it sound like death has no consequence. Tien: It really doesn't. We're literally waiting to go back. Hell this is Goku’s second time, and both Krillin and Chiaotzu have already done it twice. Me: Yup. Chiaotzu: Next time we free sundays. Krillin: Actually, I’m lactose intolerant. Bulma: ...Huh. Chi-Chi: ...Huh. Videl: ...Huh. Tien: ...Yeah. (Awkward silence)
Vegeta doesn't get that kind of life in otherworld though, since up to that point he had done a whole lot of bad in his life he lost his body and got sent to hell. He only gets it back when King Yemma recruits him to go back to Earth to help fight Buu.
Piccolo has the highest with six deaths krillin has the second highest with five deaths and goku gohan tien yamcha vegeta and chiaotzu have the lowest with three deaths each
Man, i will never ever forget, watching this scene for the first time. I always thought i was an absolute Goku fanboy but something felt off for the majority of the Buu saga. Especially when Vegeta sacrificed himself for his friends and loved ones. I just felt that immense pain inside my stomach and i didnt know why. But when i watched this scene and the flashback of Vegeta sacrificing himself, a tear just dropped down and i realized like damn, Vegeta is the fucking man. What a beast of character. I will miss this mf.
This is the kind of emotional scenes that were severely lacking in DB Super. Even the scene where Goku is gathering his thoughts..That moment of suspense and silence before Goku delivers the news. It's those kinds of emotional build ups that are missing in the current series.
That was the 90's was all about man. Today just doesn't have that feel to it . It's sad. TV shows, movies, music, eveything you can think of eveything was better in the 90's bro.
I agree. But super, imo is better than GT overall. And goku did have have some moments in super. Like when he fought hit, except his super curiosity of fighting did get annoying after a while
@@lukeroukoz8110 Do you mean super is better than Z? Because this scene is from the buu saga in Z.. But i agree. He is a bit extra in super when it comes to fighting stronger opponents. He went from being balanced as earths defender and a competitive warrior to... Fuck it, ima fight everyone!
That flashback and pain that you see in Piccolo, man that hit me the hardest. The way he bows his head and closes his eyes. It was like he felt the lost of an honorable fighter that he understood very well.
This was one of the most if not the most darkest moment in Dragon Ball History. Gohan assumed dead, Vegeta dead and Goku delivering this news just a few hours/moments before he leaves the planet too while the evil Majin Buu is still alive and destroying and terrorising the whole humanity. Earth literally had no *RELIABLE* warrior at that time to count on. That was so brutal to digest man, still sends chills down to my spine. Buu saga has to be one of the greatest arcs in Anime's history whether people like it or not. I miss the gold old days of Dragon Ball Z and although Super might not be as good as Z, I am still greatful for the fact that I still get to see my childhood icons ❤❤
Truly.. At that moment their best bet was Goku, and we all know he can’t be wished back to life since he was beyond the time limit. Until elder kai joined the fray, Goku was permadead. Its truly crushing, in this moment. As the last hope is getting the kids to fuse and beat Buu, and we all know how that worked out..
Yeah plus for new comer like videl Before this videl talk gohan about how she watch gohan in cell games And then gohan conform it was him the golden hair kid that save the world so for videl its like your childhood hero who you spend a little time is gone forever and now videl had nothing but her life she live before buu saga 💀and for others they know gohan save them from cell but now he is gone and goku and vegeta also gone this timeline will vanish in few hours
Re-watching the Buu Saga as an adult, it was actually more high stakes than previous sagas. With Earth's last hope constantly bouncing around the Z Fighters and then the fully chaotic Kid Buu actually destroying Earth and bouncing around other worlds looking to destroy them, it was pure luck of the Dragon Balls that saved the day.
But then, Yamcha gotta deal with Trunks if that happens. And let’s say that Trunks does a Final Flash on Yamcha, I bet you Vegeta would be in Hell like “Yup, that’s my boy”
Bulma’s reaction hit different. Her and vegeta are two of the most stubborn people on this show and the amount of emotion that comes from losing each other stirs the fucking pot😭
I feel the worst for videl.. she had just realized her feelings for gohan when this happened. Bulma and Chi Chi on the other hand already had some years with their husbands. Videl “lost” gohan before she even had a chance to tell him she loved him…. And this is technically the same day as the spopovich beating which would scar anyone for life
I love how they just got done talking about how they can wish Bulma’s parents back with the dragon balls, and everyone is like yeah with enthusiasm. Goku tells them what happened and they completely forget what they were just talking about.
Vegeta they had no idea could be brought back, while Gohan was the only one left alive who could possibly have beaten Buu. Goku didn't have long left either. This effectively meant that there was almost no way to undo the damage because you had to get rid of Buu.
@@jamainegardner4193 Big plot hole with that though, even if they didn’t know what happened to Gohan with the Superme Kai they should’ve known that he would still be alive, since they just finished making a wish to resurrect everyone that died that day except for evil people. So while Vegeta wouldn’t count, Gohan would’ve certainly will, so at this time they should know better that Gohan would be alive again since they just made a wish to bring people back to life.
@@justinlynch3 Only by Nameks Dragon balls though balls that can resurrected people more then once, he was never resurrected by earths dragon balls. Not being able to use the same wish twice only applies to the earth dragon balls when Kami was in charged, otherwise Chiaotzu or Krillin shouldn’t have ever been resurrected at all in the end of the Frieza arc since they themselves were wished back by the earth dragon balls once before. The reason Vegeta didn't get resurrected in this instance was because the wish they made before made sure to wish everyone back except bad people back so none of Bobbities minions like Dadora came back, which also applies to Vegeta to so he didn't came back from that particular wish. Course as I mention above, if they thought he was dead before they should know full well Gohan has to be alive now by the wish and yet throughout the story at this point they still think he is 100% dead..
@@brandonlyon730 Nope, Nameks balls wished for reviving Piccolo, taking him to Namek, and transporting everyone but Goku and Freeza from Namek to Earth. Earth's balls revived everyone killed by Freeza and his men, that including Vegeta
I mean to be fair, of all the people to die in this arc, Gohan was the last one to die of all the main protagonists to be in a previous arc that die in this arc. He lasted the longest, since Goku debuted dead and all. If only he could have been the main character of this arc. At least Goku sounds upset when he mentions Gohan died. It was probably super rough for everyone assembled here seeing the group kid they all watched grow to young adulthood die. Even if the dragon balls exist.
I forgot how good and emotional this made me and not just the voice acting and characters, but the music as well. They all played tremendous roles and greatly into each other. I miss this version of DBZ, masterfully done.
Goku: Gohan and Vegeta are dead. Chi chi: Oh, no! Burma: Oh, no! Videl: Oh, no! Kool-aid Man bursts in: Oh, yeeeaaah! "awkward silence" Dende:...Who... what the hell is that?! Goku: I don't know, but I'm thirsty all of a sudden.
They can, but it's still a serious situation because is still around. And 3 of the best warriors are out of commission as this point with Gohan being gone, Vegeta dead and Goku about to leave.
Enigma That’s not animation. It’s art style doofus. And Super is shit in both departments. For a 2018 show, it’s animations are lackluster. The art style is way worse more times than Z ever was.
Well, kind of true. But, videl or beedel or however she is called in english still doesn't really know much about the dragonballs I think. If she knows anything about them at all. (So i think her reaction is ok) Additionally they lost two very important fighters and the chances to win the battle against boo decreased drastically.Next, not everybody is allowed to keep the body in heaven for example. Goku was allowed to keep it because of the kaio. Would gohan be allowed to keep it? Idk. Bulma probably knew that vegeta would go to hell and this sucks :S. Then they don't know if they will be able to revive them in such a situation. If God dies for example they can't come back. You can't just think "Well, no problem. We can bring them back to life. They just had a bad experience. Probably got killed brutally by a pink fat daemon but as long as we can revive them." I wouldn't be calm either in such a situation. I would be sad and worried as hell that something might go wrong.
@@brownwolf5766 I mean they were able to bring back piccolo, tien etc after fighting nappa. also vegeta was also resurrected on namek after being killed by frieza. So videl freaking out, i can get it. But the rest should be busy collecting balls
@@Dirkoin Well, yeah. At first they were able to do it but they weren't that chilled before the battle ended. Namek was a pretty close call if you remember. Frieza and Vegeta almost stopped them. In this scene here, they still don't really know if they need them for something else later, but they anyway search them right after this happened. Bulma may have a pretty strong reaction that's true, but i still can understand them. I can imagine that it hurts for chichi to lose her son and for bulma to lose her husband and they probably won't think "Well it's just temporary". Nothing is certain and thinking it will work for 100 percent is pretty optimistic. ^^
