She walked over to the fountain in the Swordhaven Square and brushed her roughened fingers against the smooth stone. "In fact, you could drop a penny in this fountain and pray to every last God you remember that I don't kill you on the spot." Dragonloser laughed. "Yes, yes, very brave, Deathknave. Toss all the insults and severed heads you want, but we are cuts of the same cloth. You could never bring yourself to hurt a blood brother." Deathknave clenched her jaw and shut her eyes tight. Did he seriously think-- "Our good will died," she said in a cold, firm voice, "because you have turned into something unrecognizable. A poor farm boy with a dream who picked up his first blade on a playground who rose through the ranks of the toughest of the toughest warriors, even when they were advantaged with full-grown dragons fed by the money of their sponsors - and what does he do when he makes it to the top?" Dragonloser rolled his eyes, "yeah, yeah. I used double turns and defensive classes to further my ambitions." "Once upon a time," Deathknave said with a clenched fist, "you would have prematurely barfed before you even thought to utter those words." "This meaningless banter will go nowhere," Dragonloser said with his forehead resting on two fingers. "Pray tell, weren't you even a little curious as to why I organized this little rendezvous to meet with someone intent on ending me, as they so claim?" "No," Deathknave said coldly. She could not care less. "I heard you wanted to head back to Astravia, and show that dead geezer Darkon and his wife a good time once more," Dragonloser said. Deathknave looked up at him. She knew where this conversation was going and a good part of her didn't want to care... but part of her slightly missed Dragonloser's companionship and how he would help her iron out every last detail before a battle to help her ensure success. He was right that they were cuts of a cloth, for they thought and they acted the same... until the Doomed Reality. "How fast?" Deathknave asked, betraying none of the feelings swimming around in her mind. "The ex-paladin dies in fourteen turns," Dragonloser said, "It's a little inconsistent and it could be refined, but the victory should be relatively safe after burning through Darkon's Elegy of Madness. I don't know if it's possible to get it faster, but it should be a nigh guaranteed victory then on. Maybe if you--" "Ah, to have thought we were back to the old days once more," Deathknave guffawed, "but the Dragonloser I knew would've cleared it already with a snap of his fingers. None of these maybes and these shoulds, just a drop right into the pit and a clever swing of a brandished blade. Your time with these privileged classes has made you soft." Dragonloser eyed her in surprise. But Deathknave no longer had will to stay. She faked a smile and simply said, "also, make that twelve turns."
