Released alongside the SoulWeaver rework today is a new maze quest that drops the Peculiar Visor resource as well as the Katana of Valor, a cosmetic version of Aegis' weapon emanation. If you've finished the Void Ship Saga, you can find this quest at Aegis' house in Unvoided Ravenloss (Book 3): forums2.battle...
Peculiar Visor can be merged into the new Baltael's Aventail (Master) helm outside the Falconreach Libraseum: Falconreach (Book 3) → Down → 2 Down Right → Right.

Does this just drop the regular Aventail or is it a special stronger version drop that we have to farm? I already have the old one that I've been using previously.

It drops Peculiar Visor, which lets you merge for a newly released version of the Aventail with better stats. The farm is pretty quick and it has a pretty high drop rate

What level is it recommended i tackle this at, I ask because at level 40 Aegis still folds me like an Omelette.

Practically speaking it's not worth farming until level 60, as that's the lowest level merge of the Aventail. Even then the strongest version of the helm is level 85, so it's not really worth merging for the level 60 one unless you don't mind farming for it again after reaching max level

oh perfect i hit level 45 yesterday, and I do want it because Soulweaver was my default class even pre-rework. so I kinda need/want it
