April 26th, 2018 -- For my 50th outing of this year, I decided to explore the Beaver Creek in Downingtown, PA, with my trusted EuroTackle Micro-Finesse Anisoptera lure!
Never heard of EuroTackle before? Make sure you check out the Anisoptera: bit.ly/2Jf6whw You may use promocode "extremephillyfishing" during the checkout to save 10% off out of your entire order!
I had heard rumors that the Creek is stocked with Trout not only by the PA Fish and Boat Commission, but also by a private organization. And on top of that, I had heard that the place was stocked with Brook Trout!
Can the Anisoptera fool those fish?! Heh.
I would like to thank EuroTackle for sponsoring this video!

If you are trying to fish a muddy spot, you can find a bunch of twigs and maybe grass if you can and put it on the spot you’ll be standing. It will keep you from sinking in the mud

To the one and only Mr. Leo Sheng, host of the Extreme Phily Fishing Channel, We come from very different geological and topographical areas, yet I can't help but be drawn to your informational and entertaining content. Up here in Maine, I've learned a LOT about the behavior of nearly every native and stocked fish , including the starred species in this video, the brook trout. I'd love to give you some tips! As a matter of fact, I know EXACTLY why the fish were both in that area and smoking the Anisoptera. Around 11 minutes in, you seemed in disbelief about why there were so many fish stacked up in that one spot that were willing to eat your presentation. Notice all the dead grass on the bank? It's a bug MAGNET. Brookies will hang out along the edge of the grass looking for any terrestrial insects that fall in. That in mind, terrestrial insects will spawn in the creek right next to the bank. That means there should be an abundance of larvae there. Now, putting 2 and 2 together, where you're targeting an area concentrated with fish and larvae, you're bound to catch more than your share of a limit on the trout. I've been watching you since 50,000 and have learned a lot about multi-species angling through your content. I can't be any more grateful! But, I'd like to return the favor. In your content, I've noticed that when you target trout, they're nearly all stocked (Except for Togue, which aren't stocked). Up here in the happiest state in the lower 48, there's more native brook trout than you could ever fathom to comprehend. Every body of water has them and I'd love to see you up here, tight lines with some even more eccentric looking fish than those stockies you were playing with. They're darker with brighter dots and halos, black mouths and are complete chunks. Additionally in nearly every balanced water body, there are bountiful Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Sunfish of all sorts and tons of other common species that you can do a multi-species assessment on. I think the scenery of the Maine wilderness added on to the beautiful fish would make for a great time and some amazing content! Sincerely Jake, a fellow fish enthusiast

Hello Leo, honesty time, I used to think fishing for stocked trout was kinda boring and halfway cheating, and however much I enjoy your videos about them they fail to hold my interest like other species. Im also spoiled with a great fishery of steelhead, king salmon, and coho, and although I know these are stocked in the great lakes it doesn't seem the same because Im not fishing for them when they are stocked but after they grow up and return to spawn. they seem more wild to me because they have too fend for themselves for several years until I can catch them. I recently went camping and wanted a bluegill dinner, so i walked to the lake and began fishing and couldnt catch a gill to save my life, but what did save me were stocked trout which were biting well and gave a much better fight than I expected, I even had some fun getting them to chase big bass crankbaits (they couldn't actually hit it well). I shall no longer be judgmental of stocker trout (they are soooo tasty) or anyone who fishes for them. I can now see why you enjoy fishing for stocked trout, and thanks to some of your tips for stocked trout I did not go hungry :) TL:DR, I used to hate stocker trout, but then used some of your tips to catch some, I like those tasty buggers now
@extremephillyfishing
@extremephillyfishing 6 лет назад
Thanks for sharing, Colin! I am glad to hear that. As a Multi-Species angler, I try my best to not favor one fish species over another. So, for me, stocked Trout is just as fun as anything else out there. I am glad that you were able to embrace it and even catch a few fish! Tight lines!

Leo, have you ever heard of Crum Creek, it is about 30 minutes from Philadelphia and there are wild brown trout in it! I actually caught one the other day. You have to go above the Springton reservoir though because it is the least polluted and the only place on the stream where they live. There are also a few rainbows there. I do have to say it is a challenge to fish there because the trout are not as abundant as stocked trout would be and only go for a more natural presentation.
@extremephillyfishing

They say if you have to handle trout or fish with a slime coat...its best to wet your hand before handling it. True or not, I don't know...but that is what I've been told by my father(long time fisherman) and a few different charter captains.
@extremephillyfishing
@extremephillyfishing 6 лет назад
That is true, for the Trout. Trout are such a sensitive species of fish that the best way of handling them is with wet hands. And if you watched the entire video, you saw that I wet my hands for each and every Trout, besides the first one. Heh. Tight lines!

Yeah, they're so pretty that I feel kind of bad, but the one I did harvest was injured anyway, before I even caught it. It tasted like roe. Since they're stocked there, I wouldn't have qualms about it. You should try it at least once. Love your vids, Leo. Good luck bro!

Yes, Papa Franku did the right thing getting away from all the "filth" and going into music. Cuz the noodles song is banging --> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E1iwrfgNOUU.html

Hey Leo . If the trout is such a sensitive fish , then why dont you have a spray bottle filled with water? So that way you will have a way to moisten your hands. That would go along way in keeping you out of the mud and protecting the fish at the same time.
@extremephillyfishing
@extremephillyfishing 6 лет назад
I appreciate the suggestion! And as another angler suggested under this video, I should have my photo tank there to wet my hands. I just never thought about it. Haha. Thanks for sharing.

I was wondering if you use any type of tick repellent when you go fishing. Ticks are horrible this year, much worse than last year.
@extremephillyfishing
@extremephillyfishing 6 лет назад
Yes, I do. I use the tick+bug repellent from the Johnson family brand. And I make sure to take two showers a day -- one after EACH and EVERY fishing session! To take care of those little buggers. I make the water extra hot too.

Why do you not just get a pliers and use that to get hook out no need to touch them. So many people don't have one of the biggest neccesitys in fishing.
@extremephillyfishing
@extremephillyfishing 6 лет назад
I appreciate the recommendation, and I did have some with me. However, by doing that, I wouldn't have been able to show you folks the beautiful fish on camera!!! So, wetting the hands was definitely worth it.
