I remember catching it on TV back in the days we had 4 channels on TV to choose from, and the programming was only known a week in advance from the TV magazine... I think this was my first encounter with a non cartoon dragon and I cried my little eyes out at the end. It left an enduring love of fantasy and a little special appreciation of the 'last of something' trope. I think that's why I feel most for the Marauders and the Targaryens and the concept of the fading of the Elves. And the slow daying out or departure of all that's magical/mystical from Middle Earth as the 3rd age moved onto the 4th. I not only feel for the characters that are "the last" but also the void that's left, like missing something or someplace you never knew.

The 2015 reboot sequels takes place hundreds of years before the first movie, Drago was from an asteroid or Egg from the constellation Draco, Drago was played by Ben Kinsley and Patrick Stuart and Siveth was one of Dragos eggs was played by Helena Carter. Siveth is potentially Dracos sister.

David Thewlis was legitimately a really bad guy for a quirky movie. He’s an amazing actor and did well in the movie War Horse but that movie is amazing overall if you never seen it. I also miss the archetypal knight figures in fantasy. They are not realistic enough for more modern takes on fantasy, like in ASOIAF there's plenty of deconstruction of the knightly myths. That's why I am not so secretly hoping that Ser Arthur Dayne really was that knight. His persona seems like all the knighly PR rolled into one and it's waiting for GRRM to throw a curveball to disabuse us of that notion. But I am hoping for some subverting of expectations.

The original script was much better than the final product, the novelization by the main script writer was much much more enjoyable than the movie. The hero sounds so much like an American, its like Kevin Costner's Robin Hood. Sean Connery gave some personality to the dragon which was really just a flashy CGI visual effect.
