As in the last 10/15/20 years, record (album/single) sales do not make the artists any money! As an artist, i know for a fact that it's live shows that make money, not album/single sales. I make 99% of my money as library music. I don't release singles/albums or tour anymore. My music is used in film and TV and generates a lot of money.

In 2019 they'd probably be huge, as there's a lot of shite in the charts these days!

Girls in Graz was a surprise hit in Austria. I live in Graz. It`s the second biggest city in Austria. That`s probably why it became succesful.. I also lvoe rockmusic .yet I never heard of them or their song and forgot the song before it was even over . No idea why they invested in them

Haha - that's good... and also: that's why the professional musicians who write/perform the music for this kind of programme are always underestimated or ignored by the public in comparison with highly visible and expensively promoted pop music 'stars', but end up making a good (or better) living for life, unlike 99.99% of those same pop 'stars'. Quieter talent, yes, but it pays the bills far more reliably than a year or two (at most) of 'fame' (i.e. hype) on anti-social meeja... :)

Boogie Man yes, the week after people are on national TV they do indeed see a spike in popularity. But the sales where on previous albums so Peter saw none of the profit. They also subsequently failed to create any notable future revenue whatsoever and later abandoned the band altogether.

Probably spent the £75K on shopping spree right after! Thank you Peter for the Christmas the came early.

the offer came after hearing 56k back after selling 30k units, that volume could potentially be sold within a year easily if the band is somewhat recognised. the investment wasn't far off that amount so his offer is based off numbers and nothing else, he probably didn't even like the music.

Problem is you need talent for that

The only explanation that makes to me is that it was a way for the dragons to flex on each other. It's such little money to them that worst case they've lost the equivalent of £10, and in the unlikely chance the band did do well then they would have had an obscenely good deal for themselves (and an absolutely abysmal one for the band). Even then its crazy though, I can barely watch it because of how bizarre it is. They've been far less willing to give that much money to products that had a much better chance of returning their money, but for some reason they give it to a mediocre local pub band with no sales or any indication of going anywhere.

I can only assume the Dragons wanted to raise their media profiles and thought they'd be hanging out with M&M and Christina Spears at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party.
