I was never interested in such stuff, but voilà, my friend recommends this video, now I want to learn more about dragons!!! Super excited, your new subscriber here!
I have never viewed Dragons as Eastern vs Western, very interesting and informative. I love how to take different perspectives within an already interesting topic, further making it more enjoyable and enlightening. I can go on and on and on about all the crazy things that made me say "OMG no WAY!!!", but I dont want to write forever. Also, LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE that dance bahahahah and the Dragon boat, I wonder if you competed against my brother. Im so proud of you buds!!
No no, please DO WRITE forever! lol 😆 jk! Thanks so much for watching Couch Potatoe! and for your ongoing support! and for joining our Patreon community!!! 🙏🏼 THANK YOU! Oh... and I knew you'd love my dance. Please don't copy my dance moves. They're MY moves.
I saw a video on meaning of dragon by a Jungian psychologist, Jordan Peterson, he gave quite a good lecture on the idea of western dragon, similar to what you said, but that left me unresolved regarding what should one think of the eastern one, until I saw this video. Great theorising and research!
Everybody loves dragons. I've heard the origin where they came from Dinosaur bones but I think I like the human consciousness defeating animal instincts explanation better tbh. Great video and welcome back!
Hey Mike! Thanks for your comment and view! I also read about the dinosaur bones theory, and it is a valid one... but like you, I find this one more plausible. Nice having you here again!
Hi sandra,I’m from India,I think you should know about’Anantha padmanabha swami temple’…..i bet you’d be surprised.btw you got some really good and interesting stuff…
I heard or read somewhere that during eclipses that the best explanation was that a dragon was eating the sun or moon. It would be hard to understand what was going on I can imagine.
The deciever that lured Adam and Eve to eat the fruit of knowledeg of good and evil is also a serpentine being. this makes sense! so many touch points.
I 🤔 it is more fascinating if the Biblical account were included. But still deserves a round of applause!!! Thank you Madam. Im Abel the brother of Cain from the Philippines. I am praying that may my God will continue to gives you more wisdom.
Lol😆 your comment made my day. The funny thing is right before I saw this comment, my friend (who watched the vid) called me to make fun of my dragon boat days...😒 . Then, I showed her your comment 😆 . Thanks for watching UBR-M TV!
The dragons captured my interest since the first time I read the Bible ( the book of Genesis ) because I can read both in Arabic and English, what stopped me was in verse 21 chapter 1 in the book of Genesis (KJV), it says ( God created great sea creatures ), however in the Bible Arabic equal translation is ( التنانين العظام which can be translated to english means the Great Dragons! ), it stopped me that in the biblical translation it doesn’t say Dragons!!! I loved your video btw
Hey David thanks for your input! It’s really cool that you spotted that. The term « dragon » was used interchangeably with great snakes/serpent/sea creatures in the past. It’s only now that we have a certain « modern » image of what a dragon is... (with wings, fire breath and all). Evolution of terms and meanings really « screw » us over if we don’t do our research 😂. Your keen observation is inspiring! Thank you again for watching David! 🌻
@@ChasingGods The information you provided in this video is great, but the image of a dragon we have may be actually due to literal depictions of what people saw. I recently heard about eastern dragons from documented reports in the _Middle Country_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HMNIQBgixK0.html if you ever decide to investigate further 🐉
Dragons are interesting in that they all come in many different shapes and sizes, all from the same common ancestor. When you look at the family tree of Dracosaurus. In evolution, like fish out of water. The first Dracosourus was a prodo-wyrm. The Wyrm first appeared in the eastern waters. Years of Evolution the Wyrm took form the iconic form of a sea serpent, the Quetzakoatl, and all the way up to the grand leviathan. As the Wyrm made its way inland, it started to grow legs over many more years. Growing into a lindwurm, turning into a Salamander type and into the classic Chinese dragon, the Lung dragon. As Dracosourus evolved into the western lands, many turned into full body Drakes, the wingless. From drakes came Hydras and Kirins. At some point, the Wyrm evolved into having the first wings, known as Amphiptere, that later makes the first Wyvern type dragons, with lesser dragon forms as the Cockatrice, but is theorizing to be before the Wyvern. And the final most recognized form of Dracosourus is the Dragon itself. The Dracosourus family tree is complicated with many other forms, such as the Zilants, Catselwyrm, and the basilisk. In summary: Dragons have many shapes and sizes due to evolution over time, like fish walking out of water.
@@ChasingGods When I typed "Dracosourus" Draco meaning Dragon, and Saurus meaning: forming genus names of reptiles, especially extinct ones. I put them together but did not realize that Dracosaurus was an actual dinosaur. I was going for a prodo-form name for the first dragon. Now I wish I went With Dracoform.
Buddha was said to have given the prajnaparamita to nagas to Nagarjuna to recover the information written in them that early Buddhist couldn't or wouldn't be able to comprehend. They're to believe to be real not just a myth by many Buddhist and Hindus it's not merely a mythology.
You missed a big important part in your analysis and over-focused on the evolutionary comparisons. That big important part is the metaphor for the greatest greed, way beyond the greed of even the dwarves who were mining precious metals and were after the arcane stone which was supposed to turn any metal or material into gold (aka what alechemists were after, the Golden Fleece, or the holy grail). But greed is only the negative of a larger umbrella which also incorporates the positive and the neutral (in a Buddhist / zen or Hegelian kind of way). The positive of greed is wealth and generosity. But to be generous you have to be good at having something to give away. Hence the dragon is also the keeper of a treasury hidden away in a mountain (like pirates’ booty). In a way the dragon is like government basically. And a government can be a tool for good in that it collects taxes and invests them into common good projects, or it can be bad in the way that you have a dictator, an autocrat, a tyrant or a series of oligarchs (thus the multi-headed dragons like Hydra) who only collect the taxes for themselves and hide it away, becoming angry and fierce (fire = anger) when someone comes anywhere close or even finds out their hideaway. This metaphor also explains the action of desolating (e.g “The Desolation of Smaug”) of villages - meaning, the powerful take everything from the citizens and leave them in desolation, poverty and helplessness. There’s also the “draconian laws” (in many eastern countries you pronounce “dragon” as “dracon”). The Hydra is often used as a symbol to represent a never-ending repeating indistinguishable problem like political corruption, where you slay one head and in its stead rise two new - a tactic often used by politicians where they sacrifice someone and hire another (or more). I think the idea of burning each neck, I think, is basically the idea of getting rid of the “role” rather than the person performing the role 🤔 also, the Hydra does have a hierarchical structure, like our societies ( or like cancer, or like any bottom-up dendritic hierarchical yet anarchic systems), I guess 🤔 the Hydra can also be seen as a nest of snakes.. or a dragon nest Give me a shoutout if you want to connect - we can do a series together where we talk about myths and legends from around the world and explore their metaphors, meanings, differences and similarities, if you’re interested.
I like Dragons and they are also an influence to the movie Kaiju, Godzilla because of their fire breath. Also, the real animals that are not mythical but very popular today are dinosaurs.
Tough I think the evolutionary approach to dragons and the jungian interpretations have a lot of merit I still believe that dragons exist. Yes, in the present. It’s funnier this way, and it’s my gut feeling. Lol
New sub Funny story I just started watching your videos because of a question I needed help answering on threes and “it’s magic” Which Let me to watching stories about Lucifer another dragon as you mentioned in the video and all the while I’m thinking god I hope she has an only fans 😂🤣
And I no wonder why the British Royalties are considered to be reptiles! 🤔The palace have dragons sculpture everywhere and even the central London city. Huumm!? 🤔Now, Imagine how many strange things happen inside the royals Palace that we don't know about! Huumm!? 🤔🤔
I had never heard of the Carl Sagan theory of a combination of snake, raptor and feline to explain the dragon myth. It's really clever but also a little scary to think that biology can have such an effect on world culture, and that we have been completely blind to it all this time.
Dragons and Dinosaurs are the same thing it is not a mystery modern man just lied about when they actually lived and how, they are also a zoo type of an ancient people who ruled earth a long long long time ago the Naga emperors and empresses they had colonies all over the earth even in ancient America. you have to go back further then what you call ancient to the ancients before the ancients before the ancients. All the different animals are the totems or zoo types (nations or peoples) that made up the dragon kingdom that passed down wisdom
Wow, that's really great to read..I feel the connections too...would you mind messaging me on Facebook? (same name) I'd love to know more about how/where you got your information if you don't mind? I'm very emotionally connected to the Naga or what I call the Saurian races. Nice to meet you!
