Sad to see her departure from FF14. No other singer makes me feel what her voice makes me feel. Always makes my eyes watery. What an amazing voice. Hope to her in future FF projects. Her voice is just so perfect for their worlds.
I have been looking for a recording of this for ages. I was there and looking forward to this song in particular. I have no words to explain how beautiful it was. Shivers and teary eyes were inevitable ^^
Children of the land, do you hear Echoes of truths that once rang clear? Two souls intertwined One true love they did find Bringing land and heavens near But flames that burned full bright, soon fell dark Memories dimmed by shadowed hearts In the waxing gloom, did wane the lovers' moon Watching as their worlds drift apart One soul's cry, a passion dwelling within Sacrifice, a final plea to her kin Yet this bond of hope, by treachery was broke Scattering her words to the wind Swelling over long Seas of blood are a song And death an afterthought To those who fight for naught A throne lying empty A reign incomplete Alone for eternity A pain without cease Children of the land, answer this; Why must you turn to empty bliss? Tell me why break trust, why turn the past to dust Seeking solace in the abyss? Tell me why create a circle none can break? Why must you let go, the life you were bestowed? This I fear I'll never know Never know
i just fi ished HW and entered Stormblood. and god. seeing the Heavensward end credits for a second time just hit different. i get chills every time i hear the opening leitmotif
thank you for uploading this. The studio version doesn't capture the power of Susan Calloway's vocal but this is surely showing her skill. And the choir is superb as well!
Been to 4 distant worlds now finally heard this one she showed up to the US for the 35th anniversary. I still haven't heard distant worlds (that's actually a song from ff 11; like the concert is named after that song and I still have never heard it live)
I don't play FFXIV but I fukin approve of this song. Listening to this, one could imagine being in a fantasy world, in fact I am reading one right now with this song.
Its definitely a song of fantasy world, and a sad / emotional one. The song (also Heavensward expansion as a whole) is about Elezen (elf-like race) and Dragons who once lived in peace and care for each other. Then one accident resulted in a never ending war between them
@@fahriza88 Pure greed and jealousy of the dragon's power and longevity was why king Thordan and his knights trapped and killed Ratatoskr, taking her eyes and feasting on them. They made Nidhogg into that monster. He blamed human nature for the death of his sister. And he was right. Nidhogg was driven by the deepest grief imaginable, with the betrayal and death of his sister still as fresh in his memory as if it happened the day before. Kind of hard to move on from a thing like that.
