I think everyone was saying donda was trash when it first came out because they assumed clb would be better than it was and way better than donda. When u compare the two , even though they are totally different types of music the majority of people and reaction channels and shit all saying donda is way better.
It took me until the Jay z verse 5 tracks into like a single verse on Drake's new album. I think after that I started liking some of the songs but overall I just felt like the album was meh. Kanye's album had a lot of Misses in my opinion as well but it did have a few good tracks

Andre 3000 makes good music (as a part of OutKast) but he's never been known for his rapping skills. Top 50 us rappers of all time for sure but if he was ever close to the top 10 it would've been during the 90s.

They are so sleeping on Kanye's writing. Agreed it hasn't been that good past two albums but DRAKKKEE? Who got bodied by Pusha T? Kanye's lyrics often are extremely aspirational and they add to the musicality and rhythm. TLOP has some amazing lyrics, so does Donda, JIK, Ye, it just isn't about 12-bar rapping verses like Jay-Z Drake etc.

What's crazy about the ecosystems comment, is that Drake hits massive peaks but tails out and then has to release a few loosies to stay relevant. Kanye will release songs that will be played in movie trailers forever (Like Black Skinhead or Power) and you will not realise that it is still living with you. I wonder what these guys will think when they hear Steven Wilson's work with Porcupine Tree and his solo stuffs now that they understand the importance of production. He is one guy that has been pushing the envelope (musically and production wise) for a while but is rather underrated in the mainstream🤔.
@@malcolmshane3039 Nope, Steven Wilson. He produces and remasteres mostly prog rock albums. Ig a good introduction to his stuff are Trains and Arriving somewhere but not here by Porcupine Tree. Much like Kanye, he also composes the music and is the primary song writer for the band.
I think more of a point was that he was more relatable when he was rapping and talking about struggle. Politics and religion is more niche. Simply just look at tik tok or instagram and how "relatable" content is always poping

I remember I had a Dell DJdiddy mp3 player, my dad had the Bigger more expensive version. Don't remember what it was called but we had limewire back then and you plug that shit in the computer find whatever songs on limewire just like apple music press download and that bitch is on the device. My dad before then would just burn 20 songs onto a disk and he had a whole folder of disks with any song you can think of. My mom would hear shit on the radio like Jayz/Lincoln Park Encore album and bam to the store buy the disk. Simple as that lol. Now yeah earlier than that shit may have been harder to find shit
