Lots of places that have a Lost and Found system also have a deadline by which the property is considered abandoned similar to how you can report an unattended vehicle to the local LEs who will also write it off as abandoned if nobody comes to claim it within a certain time frame. My dad found an abandoned boat tucked away in the corner of some river with a dead engine but otherwise in usable shape and after 60 days he was able to claim it legally as abandoned property. They often can't nor do they want to hold things for extended periods of time. Local and state laws may also play into what a business can do.

As someone who’s worked in hotels for the past 5 years (currently a Marriott property, formerly a choice hotel property) anything left behind in a room is basically free game. We are trained to turn it in and put it in a lost and found, which after 30 days we can take items from. However I don’t think we are legally binded to do that. I could be wrong but I’m under the impression that once you’ve checked out of the room and the room has been cleaned, whatever you can’t PROVE was left behind, is basically gone. Up in the air. If we can’t “locate” it, and you can’t prove it was left behind, unless the cops come asking for footage or something nothing can be done on your end.

I work hotel security in downtown Houston , hotels have a “x-amount of days” clause ..meaning, if said item isn’t claimed,picked up,whatever in usually 30 days the finder of the item(s) are able to take them home and now belong to that person .

The whole obtained legally thing is referring to the idea of abandoned property. Legally, if there's documentation that someone reached out to drake and gave him time to claim the items, then everything should be square there. He might as well have thrown the stuff in the garbage at that point. That said, the Mark almost certainly has policy against this sort of thing, but if ebonyprince is doing all this, I think we can assume they don't work there no more.
