Hi, everyone! Anthony Fantano here...again! Cause it turns out the Internet's busiest music nerd is too busy for just one channel dedicated to music. Here you'll find discussions and rants about the music industry, as well as other ideas that just won't fit on The Needle Drop.
As always, we're not always going to agree, but that's OK. I still love you. Forever!
Shoutout to @gyakusatsucity for drawing our channel icon.

I think the line in 10:28 is a reference to Parkinson’s disease. And by Googling it, “is a brain disorder that causes unintended or uncontrollable movements, such as shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination”
There's a lot of ppl dismissing this track because "he's just hating" even Drake himself with that IG story and acting like this is only coming from Kendrick... it's a beef, they're supposed to be hating on each other, and that's exactly what Drake has done as well, idk how you can act like you're above it when he made fun of the man's height lol
The line about Joel (Osment) Osteen is wild, likening him to seeing ghosts he's battling, much like Haley Joel Osment in "The Sixth Sense." It's a clever play on Osteen's persona as a megachurch pastor with a devoted following, suggesting he's more of a magician than a preacher, manipulating his followers for profit. Equating Drake to a phony rapper with a devoted cult following, suggesting his lyrics are all crafted by others, is one of the most brilliant bars I've come across. K. did it on purpose imo
I have to say I disagree with one thing, the instrumental and production actually matters. Hit ‘em up wouldn’t be as good if it sounded poorly. Kendrick annihilated Drake pen wise, but the song doesn’t sound good and doesn’t want you to listen to it again.
When he said ‘back to back, I like that record’ I also thought he was referencing how he also just went back to back on drake with euphoria and like that
I swear to god my daughter accidentally clicks unsubscribe on the youtube tv app and that's how this happens because nevvvvvver would i have unsubbed from fantano. Either that or its straight up just youtube doing it somehow ig. Anyway. 🎉
Why are so many people overthinking this line? "I didn't aim down enough" is just him saying "actually I am at the top of the mountain aiming down at you, I missed because I didn't aim *low* enough for how far down you are compared to me" unless I am missing some other crazy bit of background info.
I disagree about the beats. I think the like that beat is overrated af with that crappy erratic synthetic horn sample. The second beat in euphoria is 🔥 the horns are more melodic and drops way harder. The difference sections create tension and lends itself well to Kendrick’s flow switches.
I judge y’all IQ based on y’all believing Euphoria was the end of any “round.” Drake’s response is the end of round one. Anything released before this was not a full fledged diss. Those were designed to get the other person’s attention.
