The factory .82 ohm resistor acts like a series fuse with the b+. The resistor is prone to failure with small arcs in the rf deck. If fails and operator continues to drive rf into tube cathode tube can be damaged. The resistor does not prevent damage where arc is occurring as value is to low. The series glitch resistor I add limits the fault current when a arc occurs. The line breakers are ample to interrupt plate primary in the event of a plate b+ to chassis short.
