On the other hand nobody does videos for legit military set ups. Leaving us out in the static. So we walk over and talk to our COMO reps, and RTO’s and they don’t know how to turn a radio on in the first place.. 🤦🏼♀️
Same set up ive been rocking for over 2 years with a set of MSA's, sure you'll get crap for going "full Haji" but the radios are so widespread, in the event of an emergency its basically a standard.
make sure if youre using a CAATail you set it up optimally in the U shape through your molle. The Qore/CAATail collab video on youtube shows a few different options.
@@EODFish it's not, but of all the woven mounting methods the creator tested, that one had the best prop. Technically the most optimal arrangement would be to cut the antenna to match a multiple of your desired frequency and point it straight up but that sorta defeats the point of the product.
Try a Signal Stick, very good and low profile and a full 1/4 wave. I've got three, one for each of my radio's. I also have the Nagoya 771 and two different sizes of the Abbree. The 18.8 inch one, on my TYT UV8000E works very well.
EOD, could you show us how you route your CATtail? Is there some Do's/Do not's? Like I'm feeling like I need to route it over my shoulder or the range will be limited. I'd rather just have it going through my cummerbund to the back plate molle but don't know if it'll be bad that low.
Run it up over your shoulder for best range. Remember U/VHF is all line of sight, the higher the better. Caatail antennas are known to make contact in terrain others fail at, and reach a bit further than milspec, but always be cautious and have a backup plan. Two is one, one is none.
Sorry to bother you like this but my Earmor M51 Tactical PTT - Kenwood/Baofeng (ignore the shameless copy and paste) will connect the radio sounds to my headset but not my voice to the radio. I was wondering if there was a fix?
How well does this setup work with an MSA sordin? The plug out or mine is a standard AUX and there are connectors for it that attach to the U94. I'm unsure about the impedence tho.
