I'm in just about the same position today as you were, if I'm led to believe correctly, 9 months ago. Comment allez-vous études françaises ? (And feel free to let me know if I said that wrong :P)

If you were going for "how go [my] French studies" I _think_ it would be "Comment allez-*votre* études françaises" so you were close if that's it, and if you were asking "how are you learning French?" then I _think_ it'd be "Comment étudier-vous français?" The answer to the former would be "bien"...I hope. If you were asking the latter, then classes, obviously, though I won't divulge any more.

The former is exactly what I was going for, glad I was coherent enough in that regard! Learning a language at a college curriculum's pace is difficult, but fun. Though I will admit I miss things here or there which is fine when I can get awesome feedback to learn from my own errors :)

Darrark OMAGAD don't listen to this guy! Your sentence "comment allez-vous études françaises ?" doesn't mean anything in french :/ "Comment se passent vos cours de français ?" would be more appropriate (if person is taking classes). Or you could say "Comment progresse votre apprentissage du français ?" (if you know the person is leaning by himself for example) "Comment allez-votre études françaises ?" is... *French is hurted* *French is broken* *French lays down in a corner and tries not to cry* "études" is used essentially for scientific researches ("une étude scientifique"), or for an entire formation that leads to a superior degree ("faire des études de psychologie, de mathématiques", etc.) "Bien" would be a "good" answer technically but that would be a little rude to say just one word... "ça se passe (très) bien, merci" or in case it's not doing that well, "Non, j'ai du mal à apprendre (le français)" litteraly "no i'm having hard times to learn (french)" One last thing, make sure to understand the difference between "tu" and "vous". It's "you" in english in both cases, but "vous" is considered very respectful if you talk to one person and not a group. You should "vouvoyer" your boss and essentially everyone you'd be very polite with in your own language... But not your wife, friends nor ppl you talk to on the internet (except you wanna be very formal or make everyone think you're an old person, of course) Sorry for the long post, i hope i didn't confused you instead of helping, but it's been 5 months so maybe you already know that now ! xD

So are you natively French? I ask because you seem to be rather understanding in the difficulty of transitioning from French to English, and, not to be insulting, but I noticed some slightly marred usage that seems to originate from French, based on what I know of it. If you are, then you certainly have done a good job of transitioning to (from what I hear) one of the hardest languages to learn! My classes never really got into saying phrases like that, so having someone well-versed in the language helping me is always nice - in fact, my teacher is actually from France! - and I enjoy the language! Knowing that in the case of learning something one would use "passer" along with simply, in that case, "vos cours" may not exactly seem too important, but if there's anything I know about language (and I love language) you can never dismiss parts like that for being useless! _[Warning: tangent inbound]_ Now as for "tu" and "vous," that's actually one of the first things I learned in my first class! I do wish that English had kept its form of the singular formal "you," though, but anymore it's delegated to being used in a medieval context where it would never actually be used, especially if one considers nobility and knights to be polite; if you've ever seen "thou" "thine" or any other form of the word, that was once our "tu." I actually think there may have been confusion as to the spellings and pronunciations of words when we started writing the language down, as the letter thorn (Þ, þ) is pronounced as "th" and since type fonts didn't have the letter available, they used the letter "Y" instead, but thou/you could have always had differing initial sounds in the first place... ...And I got off on another RU-vid comment section tangent...
