It's not natural for a large dog or any dog for that matter to be so close to a baby monkey. This baby monkey must be terrified to be in such an open space next to a large dog wondering about without it's mother to YES HOLD ON TO for reassurance and protection.

That may work temporarily. But monkeys respond in kind, you hit then they learn to hit. At age two they become uncontrollable, and will hit and bite back. the crap out of you. It is all a matter of time. That is why many monkeys male and female are abandoned 2-3 years. Now if you build a trusting working relationship that is mutually beneficial that is a different story.
