I've had to do the heimlich twice in my life. Both on toddlers. The second time I had to do about 5 thrusts. It felt like it lasted forever. It was so scary trying to get the food out and it not coming out right away. I broke down and bawled like a baby afterward. Even thinking about it now brings me to tears. Please, everyone, take a class in CPR and First Aid. It really does save lives

@@moonlightgator I speak from experience in that I've both had the Heimlich Maneuver performed on me and I've done it on someone else. This is not a cultural thing at all. Medical emergencies are not cultural. Across the board, they're the same everywhere. You've never seen someone choking and it shows in your answer. On top of everything, this is a BABY. I'm most concerned that someone will take your answer to heart and think it will work when in fact, it won't. I promise you that. Someone truly choking doesn't have time for others to test out ideas. They'll die in the meantime. Please, educate yourself.
@sitcomchristian6886
@sitcomchristian6886 7 месяцев назад
@@moonlightgator I think you're confusing "gagging" with actual choking. Choking is when the airway is obstructed. They can't breathe, cough, or speak. It's an emergency. Gagging, or having something "go down the wrong pipe" is more in line with what you're describing. Both should be handled with as little panic as possible.

its horrible to be panicking and to be behind the wheel because you're not thinking clearly and you could put others in danger without being wary of it. Very bad situation, if you ever have an emergency, ask someone else to drive you! glad that the baby made it out of this alive !!! God bless them
@danshotguns4226

@@cannedheat300Even if you haven't taken CPR classes, most people know about the c. P. R technique for babies because you obviously can't Do the same CPR you would do for an adult. So you just do the old thing where you hold the baby with your one hand and you tilt their head down towards the ground being careful obviously, and then you give them light back. Blows between the shoulder blades... Periodically checking the airway to make sure that if they cough anything up, you are able to pull it out of their mouth before they choke on it again. And to me that's just common sense none of that is anything special.

It's hard I feel that mother and brother. When my daughter was less than a month old she stop breathing from drinking that Similac. She turned blue I was freaking out, my mom grabbed her and ran her three doors down to our neighbor who was a fire fighter. He called 911 while performing cpr on my daughter. I stayed at the house looking down so I didn't distract them. When the ambulance got there that's when my aunt put me in her car my mom got in the ambulance with pull off. My aunt is lead foot for real she beat the ambulance to the hospital by 10 mins. They had flashing lights I done filled out all the paperwork by the time they pulled up. My daughter was screaming her head off, the paramedic said she got some strong lungs mom I just smiled. My daughter is 21 and she used those same lungs in mock court rooms. She's in school to be a lawyer.

Better yet, call 911 before you rush there and tell dispatch about the emergency. This is what the line is for. More likely, then not, you will get a police escort. Just tell them your address, what color/type of car you're in, and tell them what hospital you're heading to. Just roll with your hazards on, and they'll spot you. Parents were so panicked. I wonder if they even knew how to save a choking child? Panic can be the enemy. All parents should learn basic skills to save a choking victim.

Finally someone said it!! I had 4 children and if I would have behaved that way in medical emergencies like they did I wouldn't have any children alive today. I wish parents were required to receive basic emergency response training before the birth of their children, we have to pass a test to drive and several other things but no training required to raise a child??

@@AJsWorldorignalExactly. People in the comment section are justifying the mom and brother's behavior. People have been in the same situation and have forced themselves to calm down and act. It's a matter of mental training and calming techniques.

Officer Fraser, you deserve the respect of everyone - including a raise from your department (and not jealousy from shady peers) for the good p.r. that resulted.

Good to see the police trained in first aid. That was textbook on how to treat a chocking child.

Awesome reaction from that cop. Properly assessed the situation, and saw that they weren't going to make it in time even if he raced the kid to the hospital so he tried to save him and got him breathing enough to make it to the hospital. No misinterpretation of the situation, no consideration for the race of the driver and passenger, his only thought was to aid the dying child.

I'm so happy that the officers pulled them over and was able to aid that precious baby, who is well-loved...you can see that in the frantic state the mom and uncle was. To God be all the glory, for the officers being there at the right time.
