Lake Abbotsford. This is what happens when you drain a natural lake to create farm land and you need to keep pumping to keep the water level down. The lake comes back eventually.

Abbotsford supplies 50% of British Columbia's dairy, meat, and eggs. Not easy to replace that

That's what you get when you build houses sitting in a lake bed, all the water did was to flow downhill to take back its land.

Sumas Lake was a shallow 134 sq km freshwater lake surrounded by extensive wetlands that once existed in eastern Fraser Lowland, located on the south side of the Sumas River between the foothills of the Sumas Mountain and Vedder Mountain. In 1924, the lake was drained and reclaimed in 1925 with the completion of the Vedder Canal and Sumas Pump Station, which diverted the Sumas River along four creeks to create tens of thousands of acres of farmland. Nature is reclaiming her own.

What's interesting about Abbotsford is the old guard in Abbotsford was pretty progressive about keeping their farmland.....farmland (even though they were pretty much all Socreds, further to the Right than Trump and Mulroney and Regan and Thatcher) but zoned intensive housing up into the hills and dales. It COULD have been a lot worse. It could have been the kind of housing allowed down south of Sumas on "the flats" and the same Nooksack River re-claiming it's houses. !!

Hi Can you do a flight over the part of the highway where the emergency block dike dam is being built to damming off the highway area that is flooded and fly down to 500 feet or lower, as you can do that now as there are no persons below to getting an accurate works assessment to that program to sorting out as to how long it will take to open the highway. And of course post it ASAP, Chilliwack has run out of FOOD AND FUEL!

dude the Military will be lucky if it can muster its 4000 troops more likely it can only get half that, and even then can only do so for a short time due to both cost and most of those being reservists who have to get back to their regular jobs. Canada also does not have the money to run gulags, look how much federal prisons cost.
