If you are looking for LARGE pieces of muslin, look for Quilter's muslin, or Backing muslin. It's 108" - 120" wide. It's made for Quilters who don't want a pieced back. It can often be purchased by the bolt.

Good luck. One suggestion to help you, make a mock up. If you don't know what that is, it's where you make the dress with super cheap material, like muslin, as a practice to making the dress before you make the dress with the pricier fabric. It's your chance to make sure the fit is right and that you understand how to sew it together well. This way you make mistakes on cheap fabric and don't accidentally ruin the nice fabric.

Hi, he made a series about how he made a prom dress for his niece. In one video, he showed how he transfers a mockup to a pattern. Basically what you do is cut it clean (if you draped both sides you will notice that they are not a 100% symmetrical. You have to find something "in between" or choose the "nicer" side). Then, you copy your mockup on paper WITH ALL THE MARKINGS! Before you use your nice fabric, make sure you make a quick mockup before, sometimes you have to change it a little bit so that it fits perfectly. You will either transfer those changes on your pattern (if they are not very drastically and if you feel sure about it) or you will make do the same steps again until you are satisfied with your mockup.

Hello Nick I'm kind of confused about what you said about cutting the ball down on the cross screen if you cannot find fabric that's 60 in wide because if you can't find fabric that's 60 in wide if it's smaller than 60 in wide for example if it's 45 in wide then are you going to cut it for the width you know what I mean if you find fabric that's 60 in wide then you don't and then that's all the width that you need but cutting a ball gown skirt with the 45-in fabric how is that going to work for with if you want to go really wide or if you want to do some ruching how was that going to go how was that going to work I'm quite baffled by that
