Hi Alice, to change the stroke size of the pencil line, select the line and the mini menu will appear. Select strike size (second one in from left) and toggle to required size xx
I appreciate this video soooo much. Thank you for showing this, learning new software on the fly and working through the challenges is whatthis is all about.
If you select the line you then go to the right side second selection from the top and the pop out menu you can scroll down and select to round the ends of your line and adjust the stroke size
i barely got my ipad that my bf gifted me for my bday and i was actually able to spin it around when i was messing around with illustrator and photoshop on my ipad, i thought that was soooo helpful!
This turned out so fun! I've had some problems getting on a good flow with this too, I SO wish we could spin the art board. Stroke is under the properties button on the right! It's at the bottom on that tab and you can type it in what you want it to be/select the path and then change it from there.
Like always it was awesome Alice .thankyou for your efforts. just because of you I am now getting better in understanding the shadow techniques in vector illustration. thanks a lot.:)
Hey Alice! You’re not crazy at all looking for the stroke properties. You can change the thickness of the stroke from the pen tool / pencil tool on the properties panel on the right hand side but you can’t change it to be tapered like you can on your desktop AI where you have the drop down menu of variable width profiles. I’ve already googled this 😅 I believe it’s coming in the updates from what I’ve read on adobes website. On the home screen of adobe on your iPad you can suggest a feature you’d love added to the app to make it better! Hope that helps aha 😊
The pen tool is just a mystery to me. I am pretty sure it has always been a same size pencil, even in the desktop version. Maybe you can change the stroke size on the path later on like you would on a shape?
can I ask which iPad are you using? I'm planning getting an iPad and i want some oppinions please. are you using iPad Pro, iPad Air, or iPad 8th gen. thanks!
I got an 11in iPad Pro just last year. First tablet I’ve ever owned and I absolutely love it. The screen size is big but not obnoxious for traveling and there’s no home button on the front so it’s reminiscent of drawing on just a piece of paper. Would recommend getting a matte screen protector and pencil tip covers- the iPad is slippery to draw on compared to traditional media and can make it more difficult to adjust. Replacement nibs for the Apple Pencil are a good idea as well since most of us tend to be aggressive with it at first and wear down the tip immediately. Sorry for the long comment- hope it helps!
I love your "Draw With Me" series and look forward to it. Am also starting to be a designer and videos like this helps me a lot. Thank you for this video :')
Just 4 minutes in and loving this and not sure if you already figured it out. To change the stroke width, use the SELECTION TOOL, then you'll get a mini menu when you select the stroke to make changes, or you can then go to the PROPERTIES MENU.
Your portrait illustration turned out great! Really interesting to see the differences with working on Illustrator on the iPad. It’s too bad you can’t rotate the area like Procreate though. That’s going to annoy me too once I finally start trying out Illustrator on mine than my computer lol
How do you actually open a photograph in Illustrator? I cannot export a photo, only a few files like pdf. How did you actually open it? Thanks in advance-
It's so odd and annoying that you can't intuitively rotate the canvas like you can in photoshop and procreate. But being able to create vector shapes by drawing with the pencil rather than with the pen tool looks super interesting... got the brain ticking over..
