I love that Nathan and Jacob both drew Barbies that are unsettling in a fantastical sense, but Julia drew something that an actual little girl might do to a Barbie doll.

okay this might be a reach but I feel like destroying our barbies is the first sign of internalised misogyny, or the wish to rebel against what what's being imposed upon us as "rightfully girly". At least for me, I felt less ridiculous if I was harming my barbie than caring for it. You show you aren't girly and can us this girly toy in a violent way. It's only now as an adult that I've come to peace with my femininity that I enjoy dolls unironicaly.

@@aldranzam3456 genuinely there are so many academic studies and papers on this very concept and they're SO interesting, some are bullshit because of the very misogyny they're studying, but most are cool, and a fair number of scientists agree that the Urge To Kill Barbie does in fact have roots in resenting the perceived rigidity of her femininity. 6yo me didn't care that Barbie had doctorates and accomplishments up the hooha, because I didn't know what those were. I cared that she was pretty and rich and blonde, things I could never be, and yet folks told me I should want to be like her.

As a weird little girl I had my barbies do many very weird things. One of them had their neck joint break and her head wouldnt stay on but I didn't want to stop playing with her so I just impaled her head on her neck stump and from then on she just had what I dubbed a "neck problem" which basically was that she had no neck. I also brought some to the beach and made like a quick sand hole and made them drown in "cement" I also had one guy one named Blaine from the generation girl set that had their weird random piece of cardboard attached to the back of his head when I opened the box that looked like a duck bill so me and my cousin dubbed it the duck and made up lore about how it made him stupid and how the other boys didn't have it so they weren't stupid.
I think Julia is more like listening on the conversation and subconsciously follow their concept on the topic the crew talks about and drew whatever goes with the flow. Like she did rn with candles and such because they talked about candles and witches, though she did the exact thing any little girls do to their own Barbie dolls do with putting it on jell-o lmao.

Drawing suggestion: Waluigi was created so Wario would have a tennis partner. Toadette was created so Toad would have a karting partner. I think you guys should create derivative sports partners OCs for other Mario characters
also for the monster high doll ones, (they have joints and you can take off their hands and stuff) we would loose their body parts and mix and match with other dolls like Frankenstein

I kind of love how this episode is a perfect analog of what playing with Barbies was actually like as a kid - they created some fun/weird/hilarious interpretations that were definitely not what Mattel intended. And if making up complex wild plots with Barbies wasn't the whole point of make-believe, I'll eat a Jacob Horse plush

Jacob and Julia, yes. For me, Nathan's activated my dog love part of my brain. His portrait is legitimately adorable. And even though Karina isn't back yet, she isn't too far off from her usual self. Just kinda sick of it all in a deadpan way in comparison to vaguely threatening.
Drawing suggestion: draw each other into an isekai. Example- Nathan is king of dinosaurs in a prehistoric world; Karina uses a Digimon deck in a YuGiOh-esque dimension; Julia is a Drawtective in an isekai full of vampires; and Jacob is the leader of a bunch of little guys rebelling against hot villains.
At 23:55, when Nathan and Jacob both say "Oh," they sustain a perfect fourth in a really low range for a good few seconds, and the growl of that sound shook me (and my speakers) to my core.

Only… no, that’s… that’s not screaming. That’s laughing. The deranged cackle is unlike any normal human sound. It is not sane, it is wholly without reason or empathy. Yet even still, it is aware. Fully aware of your surroundings now, you unzip your tent and step into the night. Chill and unforgiving, you contemplate returning to your bed and ignoring it. Whatever it is, it would be wisest not to engage. This is not something you are supposed to hear. Branches snap, the howling laughter approaching rapidly. The beacon of a searchlight radiates from the helicopter far above, illuminating the… what is that? Moving with swift, powerful grace, the mass seems to glide across the forest. Dragged along by countless sinewy limbs, it brings a rush of fear. Gut wrenching, paralysing terror. As you stare at it, barreling towards your location, it seems to notice you, as the choked, screaming laughter silences. It stops, mere meters away from you, and draws back the glossy tendrils of golden hair, showing its face. It does not look at you, but the eyes register a certain understanding. The understanding that you are at its mercy. “Hi! I’m totally hair Barbie!” Gunfire rains down from above, each bullet disappearing into the mass of fiber. Yet still, a maniacal grin is plastered on the fair, porcelain face. Something snaps, and just like that, it departs. The demented shrieks resume as it regains speed, leaving a cold gust of wind in its wake. The searchlight struggles for a moment, only a moment, and then locks onto the unfortunate escapee. It was, truly, totally hair.

I'm a witch who loves all candles, especially the electric kind! Electric candles are most of what I use, tbh! They can be made rainbowy and more easily painted or drawn on, and they're safer for meditation! :) Still use candles in day to day life, but honestly, usually lean into electric for magic!
